Post New Requests Here / IDEA: Compare File Properties
« on: October 03, 2005, 01:22 PM »
When I want to compare the properties of 2 files I must rightclick one file & select properties.  A dialog is opened but this is not listed on the task bar so when I do the same thing to the second file I lose the first dialog.  I have to minimise Windows Explorer to find the first dialog & then position the 2 dialogs for comparison.

In a perfect world I would be able to select multiple files & rightclick one to select "Compare Files" from the context menu.  A window (that is not loseable) would open that lists the properties of the files for easy comparison.  I work with a lot of multimedia files so I'd love to see things like "track duration" & "bit rate" etc in addition to standard properties.

Thanx 4 looking.

Unfinished Requests / IDEA: Fix ReDownload of Incomplete Downloads
« on: September 07, 2005, 10:34 PM »
If a connection 2 a server that U R downloading a file from is interrupted Windows saves the file 2 disk even if it is not complete.  If U try & redownload the file Windows sees the file in the cache & assumes that it has already been downloaded so just keeps dishing up the cached version of the file which, of course, is incomplete.

I know there R download managers that resume broken downloads but download managers don't work 4 every file on the web.

Searching 4 a file in the cache & manually deleting it is a very tedious task.  Would there B a way 2 rightclick the link & delete or overwrite the file?

Unfinished Requests / IDEA: Graffiti Picture ScreenSaver
« on: September 06, 2005, 06:20 PM »
Hi guys.

There R many screensavers that display pictures in a folder & it's subfolders.  What I would like 2 C is 1 that scrolls along the longest axis of a picture.

For example, some pictures on the page http://www.graffiti.org/peru/peru_6.html R much longer than they R high.  The screensaver I currently use fits the pictures 2 the screen but this means the detail cannot B seen.  The picture http://www.graffiti....rg/peru/peru_008.jpg falls into this category.  It would B great if the picture would B zoomed in 2 fit the height & then scrolled.

Unfinished Requests / IDEA: Convert Archives to Folders
« on: August 23, 2005, 05:00 AM »
90% of the time I delete archives that I have just extracted.

Wouldn't it B easier 2 have an archive context menu option "Convert to Folder".  Efficient!

Unfinished Requests / IDEA: Folder Colors Represent Path Depth
« on: August 23, 2005, 04:58 AM »
I've always wanted folders that represent their path depth by color.  So if U R @ the bottom of a directory path, folder's would B, say, the usual color.  But as U move back up 2 the top of the path the folders become a darker shade of another color (probably red).  It would B an easy way 2 gauge path depth.

Thanx 4 looking.

My pet peave is online forms that restrict the number of characters that can B entered in a field but don't report the number of characters U have already entered.

I would like 2 B able 2 select text & have a rightclick option 2 count the number of characters used.

Hi guys.

I have had a program called Ditto installed on my PC 4 over a year at least.
http://sourceforge.n...t/projects/ditto-cp/
It keeps multiple items in the clipboard.  In theory it sounds very useful but I've found I never use it.

What I do think would work though is this.  A program that adds everything copied as a new item in the clipboard.  When I press Ctrl + V it pastes the most recent data BUT if I keep the Ctrl key depressed & press V again it instead pastes the second most recent item & so on & son...

So when U hold Ctrl you can tap the V key 2 cycle back through the items in your clipboard.  When U get 2 the end it can return 2 the most recent item.  And, if U go past the entry U were looking 4 keep the Ctrl key depressed but tap the B key (since it is next 2 the V key) 2 cycyle throught the clipboard in the opposite direction.

Can it B done?

Hi guys!

My first post!  I signed up hoping someone would think my idea would B worth working on.

I run the Windows Task Manager @ startup & have it minimized 2 the system tray.  It displays a bar which moves up & down depending on the CPU load.  One thing I've noticed is that the bar can B full when the CPU is running @ something like 95%.  This gives the impression that the CPU is overloaded when it is not.

I thought if the bar was color coded green for low CPU usage & the higher the usage the color would change through greens, blues (?), oranges, yellows & finally red.

If the CPU is overloaded it would B cool if the red becomes the background color & @ the bottom a white bar moves up 2 the top & back down again 2 indicate it is maxing out.  Maybe the white bar can do something different each time it shows itself, like moving side 2 side, diagonally, the red bar following the white bar instead of the white bar moving back down after reaching the top etc.

Cool idea?

Thanx 4 looking.
