Hello folks,
lately this germ is creeping inside of me to upgrade my MS-DOS v5 to MS-DOS v6.22, i found couple of post while searching GOOGLE but it made me more confused. So i just want some info regarding this.
Has someone or anyone upgraded their MS-DOS to v6. i h' the DOS v6.0 and v6.22 as well, but the README.NOW of MS-DOS 6.22 clearly states this:
The MS-DOS 6.22 Step-Up updates your system from MS-DOS 6, 6.2
or 6.21 to MS-DOS 6.22.

IMPORTANT: To use the MS-DOS 6.22 Step-Up, you must be running the  released version of MS-DOS 6, MS-DOS 6.2 or  MS-DOS 6.21. If you are running an older version of MS-DOS, a beta  version of MS-DOS, or any version of MS-DOS that was   modified by a hardware vendor, you cannot use the MS-DOS 6.22  Step-Up. To install MS-DOS 6.22 on such a system, obtain the  full MS-DOS 6.22 Upgrade product.

How can someone check which version of DOS he is using:
Can someone show some methods to do so. Is it possible. The more i read the HELP/README file the more confused i m:

Many thanks:

I would recommend first learning basic C syntax. Start with the classic K&R book (It is short and gets straight to the point):

C Programming Language (2nd Edition) by Brian W. Kernighan and Dennis M. Ritchie

Its not cheap but its worth every penny. C is the foundation of many popular languages: (C++, PHP, Java, Javascript and more). ANSI C hasn't changed a bit in 22 years.

-widgewunner (May 07, 2010, 05:11 PM)
Hello widgewunner i had learnt a bit of C language in my formative years: i can remember doing this
#include:
io stream.h
can't recall much and can't recall the Program we used to Practice , can u suggest any program for using specifically C language only :
i know learning c language wont be too much of a head banging.

Many thanks:

well duh to update my current Windows Explorer information and data,,,when i h' opened two windows say C: and D: but the good thing about xplorer2 is that it get updated automatically.
(Just tried it now) :tellme:

i know Ctl+R does the Refresh but right clicking u'll see their is no Refresh Option (hope u understood) like in any Window folder.

Nice thread: i tried DO , really liked the Classic look, but its heavy on my pocket: it couldn't open a $Folder as it was assigned as System Folder(Total Commander couldn't open it too)....but the same folder was easily opened by XYplorer, i made a portable version and use it whenever the need be, but currently i m using  xplorer2 (havn't tried opening the $Folder) really like its small toolbar and i think its cute. Didn't find any difference to using Windows Explorer except it has many option. A little adjustment in the Option Bar and i m ready to go. i think its reeeeally versatile and light. (unlike DO...too flashy too many windows) but its really lacking a REFRESH option.

verified and tried opening $Folder with xplorer2 ,and it couldn't. Which make's XYplorer my preferred Primary Explorer then xplorer2

Hello folks, i need some advise. u see i really want to learn more about making Batch file n DOS. Although i had some training in DOS in my formative years; but  that was only basics.
I serched through web and couldn't find any decent materials, only some examples. Although making BAT file to run some appli isn't new or hard for me. Its because i want to advance to learn C++ (i did learn C++, but it was on unusual time, back then i wasn't interested and uncooperative with teachers). I heard that making/learning BATCH file is the basic to learn any programming language.
Could someone help me here regarding my query i.e.,( understanding ONLY BATCH FILE AND DOS). Any suggestion welcomed.

Many regards. :D

Hello thnks for redirecting, the MultiInstall and Compact Autorunnner v1.0 looks really simple and i just browsed thru the installed folder and their weren't any proper help file. Non of the above mentioned did not fulfill the thing i wanted i.e., even with Autorun Typhoon i was only able to make a Dialog which would just show some information but couldn't display any pictures.

Is their some other Programs i can achieve this.

Hello folks,
u see i h some huge data (ie., setup.exe etc) on my harddisk, time to burn it on a DVD. i want to make a nice looking Autorun menu page.
Currently i m using Autrun typhoon, i wanted to make a menu page, where upon clicking ay particular button another small page would show with a picture and small details about the application.

Something like this. This autoplay was in one of the DVD's that came with a PC Magazine.

Can anyone suggest any Autorun program, any Retail or one that can create a Professional looking Autorun.
i dont intend to buy these product as i'll use it only for hobby.

See the post here where I mentioned most of the available tools for creating portable versions of apps.
It may give you some ideas.
For PS-CS2, I'd probably give JauntePE, (follow the 12 step program), a go as it can monitor registry changes during program installation.
The last available build of JauntePE appears to be here: JauntePE
It appears to be a dead project which is a pity.
Thank u 4wd   that was a neat thread u started their,  i made quite a number of portables by ThinApp, now that's a Winner App. Its a good deal for a 60 day Trial for a $8,187.50 Program :( and re-setting is not a problem.
JauntePE looks like a next big thing. Able to run/install Program in a Portable like container, instead the Program being installed in the PC, is really innovative.
:deal:So far Jaunte was able to make Portable Active Desktop Calender, where Thinstall failed miserably. Both failed to make a fully functional Photoshop CS2, Disk Directoe Suite,UltraISo, ie., with the Option to set Virtual Drives
Anyways the most lousiest of all is the Portable Appication Createor Master 1.6, having to do all the things manually, where most of the time i get stuck witht the Aut2Exe v3, for compiling Script to Exe.  :mad:thats a real daunting task.
Portable Application Installer 1.91  , looks/work like Portable Application Master 1.6 in many ways,,,,,
My friend had a portable UltraISO which could enable users to set virtual Drives, the Directory/File layout lookded as it the person who made it used the FOrmat needed for Portable Application Installer 1.91
For Photoshop CS2 i used the old method, backing the Registry and copying the PS folder anywhere, but stilli get the user data missing: check the screenshot.

Can someone show a tried and tested method on how to make a Portable PS CS2.

Hello folks,
i will get straight to the point :P, i keep formatting my PC, every 2/3 times a week or in a 2 weeks time. Due to swapping Vista/Win7/Xp/Win 2000 and sometimes due to virus infection. I already h' an Image Back-up of my Drive, but old habits die hard.... :-[
Then again i h' to start all over installing all the Application from scratch. MS-Office, Winrar , Winzip ,Notepad++ , Nero ,etc etc...are a must have in my PC. And installing other Programs which i use just for fun ,Pc Tweaking and hobby namely Photoshop Cs2 ,Video Converter ,Music Converter, Renamer , CCleaner , Registry Defragmenter etc etc...are some application i use sometimes, but i do use them.
Lately i m seeing a lot of potential in having a Program in a Portable version.Having them in a portable version seems not too bad. I made some Portables like CCleaner, Music, Video Converter etc etc..and the amount of time and Resource they comsume are almost same/normal to the real Program installed in the PC. Hope u'r understanding. :D
I m using UPX, Portable Apps Creation Master 1.6  a freeware to compress and make a portable version.
But the program.exe residing in a given Folder also contains, help, dll, uninstaller etc etc ....whole files that are created during the Installation of a given program. Is their any other Retail/Freeware version that can make a single exe file which can be launched from anywhere that portable application is.
I tried making PSCS2 portable but it says the User Registration info is missing , PS is closing now. This is just an Example, their are a lots of PS CS3/CS4 in portable Version all over the Internet.
Their are some other programs i want in portable version namely DiskDirector Suite, 3gp video Converter,Win Utilities and the list goes on and on......
I see it is good to h' them in Portable version, it can save a loooooot  of time for me  ;D
I reeeally want to h'a portable Photoshop Cs2 , u know how much time it takes to install n register the dam Programs... :tellme:

Can someone suggest tried and tested Tool of the trade for this,

Many Regards:

You didn't get this from me, but start up the installer on giveaway day [today]
After the key wrapper dissapears and the installation starts, run

md C:\GAOTD
attrib -r -h -s %temp%\we*.*
for %i in (%temp%\we*.*) do copy %i C:\GAOTD
ren C:\gaotd\*.tmp *.exe

then check C:\GAOTD for results :]
Thanks for the CMD scancode, havn't used it but renaming the Temporary file did the job of actually getting the Original Installer, very cleverly concealed .Was figuring that for many weeks but anyways thank you. Sometimes , sometimes i feel why even let the setup.exe be archived another Setup.exe

Anyways fixed it,,,,Donation Coder is really a Good Omen for me.

I think the registration is within the GAOTD installer itself.  But that's just a guess.  So you may have to install it today on all the PC where you want it.  Or wait for the next GAOTD, or find an equivalent like Glary's.
Glary's Utility is good ,but each one his own Preference. Win Utility has a free version as well but this is the Pro Edition that is being offered.

Thank anyways:

hello folks,
just for the heads up todays GOTD is  WinUtilities 9.3 Pro Version, packed with many, many Utilities.
WinUtilities is an award winning collection of tools to optimize and speedup your system performance. This suite contains utilities to clean registry, temporary files on your disks, erase your application and internet browser history, cache and cookies.
You can control startup programs that load automatically with Windows, find duplicate files, fix broken shortcuts and uninstall unneeded software. Other features include secure file deletion, recycle bin shredding, cleaning tasks scheduling and undelete deleted files.
Check here: Go here:
Download here: Download here:

Its a neat program with many funtions and i think a lot of people could use it. Although i managed to get another trial version from the Homepage, getting to activate and make it a full version is a totally different ballgame.
I tried looking in the Regisrtry but could couldn't find a trace, checked it in the Windows/Currentversion/Uninstall :although here the Program seems to be Registered and using this doesn't seem to activate the Product.
My best guess either the Registry key is Encrypted.
Likewise i do not want to infringe the Forum rule's, since it is a Giveaway, n i most certainly will format my PC, dont know when in this coming week, not to mention how many times. It would be a waste to loose this Product.
Hope, u h' understood my Querry. Can someone find the Registry key. ;D

www.donationcoder.com    really for me is the last place i would ask for help. I consider this Forum hell lot better than WilderSecurity.

General Software Discussion / Re: Cyclic Redundancy Error on CD/DVD
« on: September 16, 2009, 09:24 AM »
Well i h' a DVD Movie Disc as well i wanted to rip, and i dont want to infringe Forum Rule by adding: i h' had many VCD converted to avi a long time back. And wrote 3/4 avi movies to a DVD to save time inserting it in DIVX PLAYER and would be easy on my part to play and enjoy the movie, hence i mentioned the above Programs were unsuccessful at retreiving movie data.
In the past i h' had 99% success rate by using
  • MT.Solution.Power CD.DVD.Recovery and
  • ISO Buster.
For retreiving doc,txt and movie clips like avi,flv etc.
But in this case "Cyclic Reduncancy Error", is a whole new thing i m coming across, once i got this error on my Hard Drive and i just Defraged the problem.

Before using POWER CD/DVD RECOVERY, i was using ISO BUSTER, i tried:
Of all these IsoPuzzle , worked on Retreiving DOC and TXT .Thank u for that,,,,,but none of the Warez worked on retreiving Media files ie.,Video . It failed to make an ISO of a DVD Movie Beowulf having Cyclic Redundancy Error,,,its not like i m asking too much or extending this Thread.
Like always people in donationcoder are Great....thank u.

Also, optical drives are subject to wear&tear like everything else - if your current drive is old, it might help getting a new one.
use this software called "CD Manipulator" to read the discs and make a backup image.
Unstoppable Copier comes to mind.
Unstoppable Copier, doesn't work , againg it tends to hang.
actually i h' a DVD which contains all the doc,txt n mp3."CD Manipulator" seems to work only with CD'S.
Any other DVD Reading Software.  :D
I h a Sony DVD/RW, its not that old , and i h' had no problem with it till date. Its actually the CD/DVD'S i use , i h a huge stack of DVD/S, since i dont carry it outside to work or give it to anyone else. i usually end up with buying DVD/S, just to save my HDD space, and the Quality would be compromised.
Although some branded DVD'S havn't given me any problem till date , some as old as 7 years.
Cheaper ones tend to last only 1/2 years.

That aside any other suggestions:

Try Orbit Downloader !, It has a feature called Grab++, and then Refreash the Page, then Orbit will start downloading any Streaming Audio/Video running on ur Web Browser.
I h' downloaded 78 MB of Streaming flv Video , that's the highest size i h downloaded so far by Orbit.

General Software Discussion / Cyclic Redundancy Error on CD/DVD
« on: September 12, 2009, 11:15 PM »
Hello Folks,
once again, can anyone help me. U see i h' few too many mp3, doc, and txt files i h' collected over a period of Month. Past few Weeks i tried to copy the content of the CD/DVD to my D: but after few mins of Pasting job , an error would pop up saying , so n so files cannot be copied: " Cyclic Redundancy Error ". Only half the contect in CD/DVD would be copied.
Can anyone suggest me some measure/methods/solution, for this issue.
I h tried POWER CD/DVD RECOVERY, but that piece of Program is good for Scratched CD/DVD'S, it takes too long to retrieve the DATA: i simply exit the program.

Any suggestion would be Great:

Thank you:

General Software Discussion / Re: RE-PACK setup.exe
« on: September 12, 2009, 11:04 PM »
I came up with this topic in many forums, they didn't warn or banned me. They simple put up by saying the "setup.exe"  installs in various directories, instead of only "Program files", although they gave the verdict by saying it is almost impossible to do so.
Hence i came up with this THREAD, "donationcoder" is the last place i would ask for any help.
Because folks here are helpful/prompt/and great.
Anyways i do not want to proceed with this thread anymore because if their was a solution, i would h' got it long time back.
Thanks to scancode for extending his help:

Thank you:
