Hello , i just stumbled across this topic and found its a renamer : you see i was looking for a exe extension renamer so i thought if any one could suggest anything more than this tool: i have always found it hard to go through renamer as it was hard and difficult to figure things out.

General Software Discussion / Re: Can anyone be a Hacker!
« on: March 06, 2012, 11:27 AM »
Hello and thank you all for your reply , i was very confused with this term too ie., cracker : so basically they are the same thing and having same skills but just putying in right and wrong use, and as for language its like a conglomeration of all these basic and popular languages one needs to know if one want to be.
I do not want to be one, since i do not have all those knowledge , and its not like another career option , but if i had those knowledge i wouldn't mind fiddling with others pc.

Thanks for your reply:

General Software Discussion / Can anyone be a Hacker!
« on: March 05, 2012, 07:23 AM »
Hello folks,
i just want to know about Hacking and what is it used for and can anyone be a hacker.

These are the following things i need to know i.e.,:
  • Who can be a Hacker:
  • What should one know to be a Hacker:
  • What are the programs used by a Hacker:
  • What are the languages a Hacker should know:

The reason why i am asking is because i have always heard this term and do not know properly what it means and what it signifies.
And although their are tons of material out their in the internet, i would like to know first hand from the members of the Donation Coder.

Thank you:

Fixed it : this is one topic i think i figured it myself: here's the link if their some Linux users: This one

How to restore the Ubuntu grub bootloader (9.10 and beyond)

First you need to find out what your drives are called. You can do this by going to a terminal and typing:
Code:
sudo fdisk -l
From that you need to find the device name of your Ubuntu drive, something like “/dev/sda5″.
So, still in the terminal, type:
Code:
sudo mkdir /media/sda5
sudo mount /dev/sda5 /media/sda5

And then, to reinstall the grub:
Code:
sudo grub-install --root-directory=/media/sda5 /dev/sda
Push enter and you’re done! Of course you need to replace “/dev/sda5″ and “/dev/sda” with what you found in the fdisk output.

i have installed Ubuntu 11.04 and i installed it in second partition and everything went well , during the boot process its Boot Manager ie., GNU GRUB  version 1.9~rc1-13ubuntu3 did recognise the Microsoft XP Pro (on/dev/sda1) on the last line the first being Ubuntu, with Linux 2.6.38-8-generic .

So what if i happen to reformat my XP partition  would that make the Ubuntu's boot manager useless does it , if it does then is their any safer way to do so properly ,i want  XP Boot manager to recognis Ubuntu's entry: i can do that by editing the entry in the boot.ini but would that make the Ubuntu partition to boot properly, since it is uses Ext 4 journalizing system, i can't see that partition when i am in XP, that's ok with me.

Does or can any one give a nice suggestion with this, it would be a tremendous help.

P.S: I restore my PC more than i fix my PC if their are some nagging issues, since after installing UBUNTU , when starting the PC it will first show the Ubuntu's boot manager and their is an entry of Win xp, what would happen if i reformat my first partition would that effect the second partition where Ubuntu is installed.

General Software Discussion / Some dll errors
« on: February 21, 2012, 04:44 AM »
Hello folks i recently deleted somesoftwares and ran a portable version of different porgrams and while doing so Avira anitvirus detected msiwvm32.dll as a virus and it deleted it.

But after doing so after the system restart it would prompt as error loading msiwvm32.dll .

I can't figure it how this happened and where can i get this dll file and place it in its c:\windows\system32\ folder: anyone can me.
I do not want to restore my PC just because of this issue.

My system is running without a problem even with this error or is their any way i can make this error not show during the system startup.

General Software Discussion / Re: Is WinZip still worth updating?
« on: February 16, 2012, 01:23 AM »
Tinman u r still using v.10 but i still believe the then v 10 would have the same level of compression as the present one.
These v15 n 16 are coming bloated with useless stuffs. but i think i ll switch to v 11 too.  its not always true that new is better.

although i still can't get the folder view to be in View List and Sort it by Type:

Do you mean you want any lister you open to be in List view sorted by Type?

If that's the case, then:

a) Switch folder view to Details, you can do this by right-clicking on a blank spot in the lister, (ie. not a file/folder entry, button, border, etc), and selecting View->Details
NOTE: If you have Full Row select turned on then you need to right-click below the list of files/folders otherwise you'll just open the normal context menu.
 (see attachment in previous post)
b) Click on the Type column header to sort by Type
The Type column is normally one of the default columns after DOpus has been installed, if you don't have it then right-click on the Name column header and checkmark Type in the menu that appears.
(see attachment in previous post)   (see attachment in previous post)
c) Switch folder view to back to List, right-click in a blank spot and select View->List
 (see attachment in previous post)
d) Set as Default Lister
 (see attachment in previous post)
Any lister you now open will be in List view sorted by Type unless there is a saved layout for that particular folder.

NOTE: To be able to sort by a property, (Name, Size, Type, etc), in List view, the corresponding property column has to be visible in Details view.

eg. Details view on left doesn't have Type column, ergo, List view on right doesn't have Sort By Type option.
 (see attachment in previous post)

PS. @tranglos: I am going to delete that mp3....honest!  I'm just a bit lazy....there, it's finally gone (I didn't like it anyway - sorry) :)

Thanks for this pointers with the pictures it is really helpful and that is what differentiate you with the other donation coders , with your selfless act and a willingness to help people, i feel i have a little bit of me in you in regards to .

also the icon in the Tray icon is really bothering , i.e., when i want Dopus to exit the icon sits in the Tray icon, please see the picture.
(see attachment in previous post)

Thank 4wd, you are always their with every problem i come up with and you have all the suggestion their is available and something i can comprehend with, although i still can't get the folder view to be in View List and Sort it by Type: although same thing can be easily remembered by XYplorer and its simply light weight and versatile.

Achieving the same thing here at Dopus will make it more versatile compared to its installer size and service running in the background. Hoggind the memory and achieving something meagre simply looks useless. I think i will end up with unistalling this Dopus.

Why dont they make it versatile, hey Q-Dir does what i want it to do.
Any suggestion or outlook on this. i.e, Dopus.

Is their any option to autosave the screenshot taken to be placed in the Desktop, i downloaded the portable version and its default location seems to be.c:\ScreenshotCaptorPortable\Screenshots\

in preferences,
"Screenshot folder & tools" for location of screenshot folder
"Interface Options 1" for choice of automatic save ("stay minimised") or pop-up dialogue (read the "Tip" there)

Yeah i got it now, stupid of me not to see those options, anyway besides integrating with a wide range of format , which irfanview does with its slidshow viewer this tool has the ability to take snapshots with a hotkey , that is what it make it a winner tool then irfanview.

 Thank you again.
Definitely a keeper.

164
This program is good as Irfan View and a little better for me, i am speaking for myself, and although its free i really like this and i am going to replace my Irfanview with this program, thanks Mouser, can't believe this Forum has quite good coders.

Is their any option to autosave the screenshot taken to be placed in the Desktop, i downloaded the portable version and its default location seems to be.c:\ScreenshotCaptorPortable\Screenshots\
Is their any way i can change that to Desktop, after each  snapshot it will ask for where you want to place the file to be saved, that is which i changed it with the feature After Capture :Hide the Main Form.
But it will save in c:\ScreenshotCaptorPortable\Screenshots\   : is their any way i can change that to Desktop.

Great program.

I'm no expert with changing folder layout format. I know it was very complicated in past versions, but I presume one of these options would work for you:

right-click a column header ->Select "More" at the bottom of the list.
Adjust your settings, click save; you then get these options
 (see attachment in previous post)
I presume the last option is what you want - but note that this might remove custom-default formats for e.g. music (maybe someone else could confirm that?)

Dopus FAQ thread on the topic here

EDIT/ I'm not actually sure what exactly they mean by a "layout"... :-\

EDIT2/ this FAQ guide might be better Folder Formats: Quick Guide

I didn't understand that part can you please rephrase that , which column is that, i can't find that.
right-click a column header ->Select "More" at the bottom of the list.
Adjust your settings, click save; you then get these options

Thank you ,

General Software Discussion / Re: Is WinZip still worth updating?
« on: February 09, 2012, 02:58 AM »
I am using Winrar and Winzip 15 and the commandline program too that is in their website and i like using the commandline version of Winzip although it can be used only after version 13, i noticed Winzip performed more better if not in a fraction or in a few and i mean few marginal scale while compressining the pictures and opened files , where as Winrar performed much better while compressing single Setup.exe and mp3 files no matter how big the file size was.
I have made a batch file for both the programs and i like both of these program and 7Zip is my new addition to my tool and sometime in most of the cases 7Zip performed exponentially well then Winrar and Winzip and although i don't like its ugly interface it really does compresses more than Winrar and Winzip and i am using this to compress only huge files like something around 1 or 3 or 4 GB of data and what do you know it compresses and gets the job done.

I have made a batch file for this too, but back to the question wanting to update Winzip , i think its only a personnel choice since new Winzip supports rar, 7zip , iso and whole new list of extension.

But the new Zip files made by Winzip 14 or 15 or later cannot be extracted by Winrar i already checked and double checked don't know why but may be it is made that way(i know very clearly that Winrar used to extract the zip extension quire easily). But 7zip can be extracted by Winrar and don't know about the zip extension.

General Software Discussion / Dopus 10 : Some question about it.

Although i have been  using Dopus for few weeks and although i am not a great fan of it or any other explorer for that matter but once in a while i realize its great to have them, so i install Dopus 10 and one thing i am really bothered is the way i want the folder of any drive to look the way i want i.e., File View in List and Sort by Types and i want this setup to be permanent in every folder i view and next time i logg in the PC or Restart the PC i want Dopus to remember that setup can i do that also the icon in the Tray icon is really bothering , i.e., when i want Dopus to exit the icon sits in the Tray icon, please see the picture.

Although i would like some suggestion as to which versions have been well durable and stable in all these releases of Dopus.

Yup time will tell  i am not complaining about how quickly win 8 is being released but the hardware supporting to run only win 8 is bothersome ...heh XP was released soon after win 2000 and win ME .
But the fittest and the most versatile do survive in computer world too .

I believe win 8 is better in its own way the ARM device and SECURE BOOT thing.
But how many people can afford the devile perhaps thats the single factor for XP s success. Put XP in a win 7 hardware and see how beautifully it works.

Their is one saying in my place that if a Monkey acts too smart ,he will end up with a stuck ball ( i mean testicle ) .
Ms is trying its vested effort in monopolizing the market just when things looks promising for them.
No doubt that max pc users are windows but elemenating   competition from the market is not healthy.
Just quick with XP or WIN7 just dont support WIN 8 by not buying. . . . . .

p.s: Sorry for sounding crude but i think all of us can see what MS is trying to do with its subterfuge effo

i just wanted to bring to the users and the OP notice who commented here, last time i integrated SATA controller of a small ASUS notebook by using nLite and upon booting for the setup process  it recognised the Disk's and the Partitions, and i was then able to format the disk and install XP, but in my case i wanted 2000 to be installed in a SATA Controller disk which would not recognise the disk and the partition at all, too bad now i can completely relax and give away this urge to install Win 2000 on a SATA Disk, from my first hand experience.

So each time i give a comment for a file  or folder by pressing Shift+ F11 , will i be able to view it any way.???

175
I think its too complicated with nLite, i tried it once:(it is too confusing may be i 'll check with that later) and proceeding to format and delete the partition and recreating would prove too expensive in my time, i been their without installing the SATA Controllers it wasn't good :i had to redo the partition table.
huffff...... may be i will giveup this madness for trying WIn2000 on a new PC after all its a 12 year old OS and with limited feature like xp does. Latest games wouldn't run in Win 2000 after all, XP still is good for me. :)
Here i rest my case, thank you all for trying to help me especially 4wd who was at the start of this thread, i have taken a printout of all the comments for future reference, dont know when it would prove valuable again...!!!
