N.A.N.Y. 2009 / Re: NANY 2009 Release: keydb
« on: December 22, 2008, 03:05 PM »
Hi Parttimecoder.

Nice program well thought out.
Just one bugbear    when the window is maximised it reverts back to the small window when the program is restarted.
Could there be an option to have it save  the last time open settings as regards the maximised window.

regards

I used to be able to get 20- 30 messages (recent messages) to show on this page however now its only showing 10.
with no past pages being able to be accessed  ie: 1 2 3 4 .... next.

Have tried the icon on the left hand column and get no response to open the messages to a larger number shown.

nogojoe> i assume you use Windows Explorer ? I guess i could send a "F5" to the active window if this window is Explorer, but i don't really like the idea. The main reason is that the problem doesn't come from my code but from the fact that, obvisouly, the file explorer you use doesn't automatically refresh.

that's ok ak_ it's just a minor thing that I can live with .At least I know about it other than that it works just fine.
I guess the file explorer is Window's Explorer as I don't run anything else as a file explorer.

Thanks nogojoe

Here is FileNanny 1.4 :  (see attachment in previous post)
Changelog :
- Added the Autoarchive feature to automatically move newly created folders to an archive folder.

Thanks ak_ for your explanation.

tried the 1.4 version and it works ok except it did not remove (delete) the file that was filenannied   .....that was until I hit F5  then it disappeared.

Carried on and tried another file from a folder on the desktop and it did the same didn't remove the file after being filenannied however this time I just closed the folder that file was in and reopened the same folder and it had gone.

Dunno if perhaps you could include a auto-refresh at the end of the code might solve the problem.

Thanks for the autoarchive option that works just great.

However, at first I didn't think it changes were made immediately after selecting the FileNanny option. With the new version on my system the changes only occur after refreshing the folder view. I don't know if anyone else has noticed this behavior.

Thanks for the revision, I just thought I'd let you know about this behavior on my system.

I had that same problem yesterday I didn't think the new version was working 100% right but it did create the folders after a while I don't what made it work but I can only hazard a +guess.
TheBigGuy you are right, however after booting up this morning and seeing your post I tried filemannying three desktop shortcuts on the desktop worked 100% ok.

So after removing the shortcuts from the folders and deleting the folders tried filenannying the same shortcuts again didn't work !!!    tried the F5 refresh and strangely it worked.

I'm saying strange because the shortcuts were still there visible on the desktop however folders with their names had been created.
So I opened one of those newly created folders and found that another folder was inside with the shortcuts name plus filenanny   as its name.    ie:  1st folder named "tabslock" 2nd folder named "tabslock filenanny"  and strangely the shortcut was inside that folder.

I'm running XP SP3

nogojoe> can you explain your request please ? I'm sorry, i didn't get it :)

Hi ak_

what I was meaning was once filenanny had done its job and put the file into a folder the next step for me is to archive that folder ie  move that folder to "I" drive.
Am just wondering if that move could be incorporated into filenanny ie an option to select a folder which to archive (move) the filenannied folders to.
thanks  nogojoe

kartal> At the time, it doesn't work with multiple files. What are you thinking about, putting each selected file in a unique folder or putting all selected files in the same folder ? The first behaviour seems the more appropriate to me and it's a shame it doesn't work already :) I'll look into this.
I think it does work with multiple files when you use the send to option on the right click context menu. it puts the files into separate folders.
from memory I don't think it works with the "Filenanny this" option in the rightclick context menu, which by its name suggest single file.

Would it be possble to add option to archive the file onced filenannied to an archive folder of ones own choice.

have you tried PDF Splitter/Merge maybe that what you want.

I use the merge option works well

NOTE: currently PAste works only on WHITE background only. Too long to explain why.

Aha that explains a lot, that was where I was having the most trouble. Thanks

Hi Click Cutter

Have tried your program out and it goes OK.
I run Smartboard 2000 as a clipboard manager and it runs ok with that, no conflicts at all in fact it enhances Smartboard  2000 by activating the copy command when C C does a copy.(that saves 2 clicks in Smartboard. however Smartboard allows me to retain all the clipboard contents for as long as I want whereas C C is a straight copy--paste command utiity.)

have had a little difficulty with C C pasting maybe I need to try different time  settings . Nothing major rather minor and I'm lucky I can fall back on Smartboard 2000 if I need to if C C won't paste

nice play on the words, Caption -> Captain. btw, i've also posted mine as well. :)

I've downloaded but it doesn't go.
doesn't reside in the taskbar

checked the script I see it uses the middle button it goes ok
Just runs silently in the backgound .Used to having programs residing in the taskbar
I was writing this up when I got the reply  Thanks I had worked it out.

Thanks Wep

just another little tip

Could you provide a printable version of the "help" as I feel that it would be useful for new persons until they get used to the commands  perhaps a clickable link in the about window which will print out the about windows data.

I use Mousers screen captor then enlarge the data then print it full page and have it handy to refer to till I’m used to the
commands.

nogojoe

ps more credits coming your way

But in the next releases I may reassign PageDown and PageUp to the "history of the calculations" function.
Last version of the WinMouseTipCalc have better precision of calculations.

Hi Wep
I’m using WinMouseTipCalc almost everyday now and have a suggestion ---is it possible to make the windows key stay on , perhaps toggle off and on, so that you can free one hand (the one holding down the Win key) it would make reading figures  from papers etc easier like turning pages

Something to think about for your next release

Post New Requests Here / Re: IDEA: Dynamic shortcuts
« on: July 15, 2008, 02:06 AM »
tried this out and it worked OK  except it removed the icons to the shortcuts of my drives C D E F G H I J K that I have on my desktop.
Also removed a icon from shortcut that was already on the desktop that was of the same program that was also on the usb drive. (the drive had a backup of that program although the icons were different it removed both at the finish just leaving the shortcut itself that was already on the desktop.

Left all the other shortcuts and their icons alone.

I can see some promise in the program but for the above.

a possibility would be to have the  shortcuts be delivered to a place on the tray  (something similar to DESKonTOP) as in the finish you have to access the "Safely Remove Hardware" from there.

If I understand you correctly, then you need only the function to add % sign into the result at its end?

But you have to know: you cannot calculate expressions with this signs, and you can only paste result with % and $ signs only using <Win>+<Insert> hotkey.

No I didn't realize that until you pointed it out as my financial programs calculator does allow it(the shift + $ key to do it ) but that is a bit cumbersome at times . I would rather use your WinMouseTipCalc instead.
I see now what you are trying to tell me and I think it may be best left up to you to decide on what's best and I will carry on using WinMouseTipCalc as you decide to do.

If you can have an option to reduce the 14.00000  (final calculation) to 14.00 that would be great. I really only need the numbers

the $ and % signs are not really of great importance to my needs (still could be handy though ) but  still could be of benefit to other users of WinMouseTipCalc

To accord with key names (PageDown suits with End position, and PageUp suits with Start position) I prefer to assign keys as following:
<Win>+<PageUp> = $-sign,
<Win>+<PageDown> = %-sign.
What do you think about it?

I will leave it up to you as there would other users that may require it

Of course I can set other key assignments:
<Win>+<5> for %-sign (<5>-key where %-sign is placed)
<Win>+<PageUp> for %-sign (as you ask)
<Win>+<4> for $-sign

I will leave it up to you as there would other users that may require it

More, it is possible to make last and first sign dinamically assigned by means of dialog text input. You could to assign other signs instead of % and $ for the <Win>+<PageDown> and <Win>+<PageUp> hotkeys.

I will leave it up to you as there would other users that may require it

<Win>+<End> and, <Win>+<=> works if you do not include equation sign (=) into the selected formula (see the screenshort). (see attachment in previous post)

Thanks Wep I can works those commands OK now

Makes WinMouseTipCalc a thing of beauty and a joy forever

nogojoe, do you want to calculate simple financial expressions includes %-sign like followings?

123+53%=65.19
12*4%=0.48

[/quote]

Thanks for your reply Wep.

Yes just simple. All I need is the  final answer eg. the 0.48 whether the % sign is included is immaterial to me only it would be a safety check if required. All that I would be pasting if  I needed to would be the 0.48.Only occasionally the full equation would be required
At present I just do 80/100*75 [enter] to get the answer 60
Just thinking about it to activate the % key may be a little difficult (Shift+%) maybe you could perhaps allocate the page up key to be the % key so it becomes a single press key whilst holding down the Win-key. It is the nearest to the numpad

All I need it is for financial equations just to calculate apportions of an account to various sources.
ie.   12.5% Gst
       15% personal
       25% personal    75%expenses   etc etc

Many thanks for your reply and I will try those commands out as you have explained.

it's a great little program non intrusive but at your fingertips if you pardon the pun.

The calculations made by means of Win...Calc not precise. Because "In case it's of interest, AutoHotkey stores intermediate expression results as 64-bit floating point numbers (or integers if there's no decimal portion). However, when the final result is stored in a variable (or for use by a command), the default precision is 6 decimal places." as said Chris
on the (Autohotkey forum).
So, I must to inform you about this bug.

I realize what you are saying as when you do a dollars and cents equation that happens.
I just need the % to quicken up GST calculations at present I have to go the long way around

I do find that the (win + end) and (win + = ) in WinMouseTipCalc don't work as stated.
The rest of the commands do.

123
Hi Wep.

Could you increase the functionalbility of WinMouseTipCalc by adding the % function to the setup if at all possible

it's a great little program non intrusive but at your fingertips if you pardon the pun.

Here is something from HP that aims to make printing (and collection) information from the Web a little easier.
It's free.
-cranioscopical (May 18, 2008, 10:28 PM)

Thanks for that.
Installed it and found it good to use for printing out just what you want without the adverts etc

Thanks again
