I can't play your gamw because it requires the spacebar to be pressed. How about also letting me click my mouse?

No keyboard for this Wii. . .

Pure and simple: Windows Sound Recorder.

Go into advanced settings of your volume control and change the recording source from Microphone to Synth or something like that. Whatever noise your speakers make will be recorded, so be sure to turn off any IM or other apps that might beep at you.

That's how I've done it for about 5 years now.

Living Room / Re: Learn How to create No-CD Cracks.
« on: December 23, 2006, 02:54 AM »
I dunno if this topic should be discussed any more, though, since most people's use for no-cd patches is to pirate games, not to avoid scratches or inconvenience.

I have 1TB of HDD space so I always try making a disc image of every game I own (and some programs), but when the image doesn't work I look for a no-cd/dvd.

I agree that such information isn't really appropriate for this site, and most no-disc patches are probably used for pirating, but I can attest to the fact that some people (like myself) do everything we can to avoid having 50 discs somewhere nearby to swap in and out.

My desk is already messy enough as it is. I don't want all those jewel cases lying around and I'm too anal (in this respect) to throw away the case and pamphlet, etc., and put them all in an organizer they will get lost in or stolen.

Making this post from my Nintendo Wii browser--typing is a bit slow but DC looks great!

Hey Allen. I know you like making things the hard way. You should write a php script in your Wii browser!

This is also from a Wii. Everything Allen says is true!

Except when it's not. . .

I don't know about each webpage, but I saw a firefox extension once that tracked how long you spent per website, I think. I don't remember any info about it. I installed it on a whim one day and then shortly after did a fresh OS install.

Living Room / Re: adding SATA to a non-SATA motherboard
« on: December 20, 2006, 01:29 PM »
I'm going to add a SATA PCI card to my 5 year old motherboard.  I just also read that SATA hard drives also use a different power connector than the 4-pin molex one.  So, could I just get an adapter for the molex and use it for the SATA?  Most of my information that I read is from Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serial_ATA

It says that I can add an adapter, but because of the voltage issues, I won't be able to hot-swap the drives.  Did I understand that correctly?

I just bought a 4-pin to SATA power converter/splitter on Saturday from a local mom & pop cyber cafe for about $5.

I don't know about an IDE to SATA converter, though. One thing you can do is get an external SATA-to-USB shell and put your hard drive in there.

Also, one of my SATA drives has the 4-pin Molex power connecter, but it is covered by something you can pull out so I didn't know it was there. My latest drive (300GB SATA) has no Molex, however.

Ha ha. Thanks! Maybe it will be Deozone II: Playback Time!

If you need to distirbute some really large files, look into torrents - µTorrent has an easy-to-use built-in "mini tracker".

I have uTorrent and I can't find the option for the built in tracker anywhere. Not even in the FAQ or Guide online. Got any tips leading to instructions on how to use this?

Spoke too soon. I found it. :)

I finally got to try connecting to my brother outside of my WiFi and LAN networks. Interestingly he can ping me but I can't ping him. He can send me files, but I can't see his system.

I never thought about being able to play games with it. That would be awesome! I'd love to play (legal) games over the virtual network with my brother, but if I can't ping him then I don't think it would work. . .

9188
W00t! Hamachi is cool! I just need to test it out with someone not connected to my same physical network.

I think I played this some time ago, or something much like it.

It didn't like my trackball mouse. Or maybe it didn't like me trying to play it on another computer via Synergy.

Living Room / Re: Tofu Makes You Gay
« on: December 15, 2006, 01:50 PM »
I can see how some of this would be true. That whole part about human beings starting as female and then becoming male once testosterone is introduced is true. Therefore getting additional estrogen levels that are not normal for a man could certainly lead to a bit of effeminism, I suppose. Will it make you gay? I really don't know, but I imagine that you can't blame it entirely on soy products.

I don't know in great detail the inner workings of the female reproductive system, but I did take an anatomy class in high school and from what I know about the birds and the bees (I don't understand what either of those creatures have to do with the human reproductive process.) it makes sense to me that an enlarged uterus could be cause for infertility.

As for the other scientific studies, he doesn't cite any sources, he doesn't give specific years on some of the studies ("in the latest year we have data for, studies say..." (paraphrased)). The only year I remember him giving was 2000, and we all (hopefully) know that science can be wrong or skewed and more modern discoveries can prove the facts we knew a decade ago to be false. Just like Galileo's time when everybody thought the Earth was the center of the universe and everything revolved around it. I'm not saying what he said is not true. I just can't find out for myself that it is true because no information is given to back up his claims.

When it comes to overpopulation; I honestly don't know any statistics about China or any other place people are living, but I seriously doubt China is overpopulated. I think if anything, it's probably Chinese propaganda and a method of controlling the people. Just because a lot of people live in a relatively close proximity it doesn't mean it's overpopulated. But that's another topic entirely.

While we're (back) on the topic of tofu making you gay, I say that being gay makes you gay!  ;D

Yikes that's scary news. I've heard of people (in the USA) that bought really nice bikes but just wrapped them up with Duct Tape so they looked old and falling apart, and those bikes never got stolen.

Can't say that would work in a country where the police tell you to just steal someone else's.

As far as the rewards of building and maintaining the castle, I understand the traditional goals of that in a regular civ-like RTS. It sounded like it was being suggested that it be different than that though, particularly in the sense that the user only controlled one guy. Would people follow you? Would additional units just run around with AI and do their own business? Lots of questions are raised in this scenario.

- Oshyan

Multiplayer RTS style games would probably not work for Flash because of latency. But when I was describing the RTS I meant that you would be just one unit. You would see the world in third person like most MMOs right now, you would be on a team/faction which could possibly be compared to an FPS deathmatch, but you could gain levels and increase your skills and with the right strategies you could win the game.

It is very complicated and this is just an initial idea, and it does raise a lot of questions, but I think that a proper development team would take the time to answer the questions and make something out of it.

100% of the ad revenue is yours.

I think this paragraph is open for interpretation:

Wikia, a commercial counterpart to the non-profit Wikipedia, will go even further to provide customers -- bloggers or other operators who meet its criteria for popular Web sites -- 100 percent of any advertising revenue from the sites they build.

I think that means that only the ones that qualify as being "popular" get the 100 percent ad revenue. Or maybe it means that only the popular operators are eligible for the Wikia offer.

However, I'll remove that part from the original post to try to avoid giving misleading information.

I like this idea. However I'm not sure that a whole new set of child boards need to be created for this. Then again, I don't know how much these boards would be used and for how many languages.

I am not able to get GridMove to work! The first time I run it, the program freezes after I click "OK" on the info box about tooltips. The .ini file is created and so is an empty plugins directory. When I run the script after windows kills it, I get the GridMove tray icon. However it is not clickable and none of the functions of GridMove work. Same thing happens after deleting the newly created files.

I am running the latest version of GridMove on Windows XP. I also have the latest version of AutoHotkey. I'd love to use GridMove if I could!

This sounds like the same problem I've had with Skrommel's TakeAbreak - Forum Topic TakeABreak should be named "j00 Got Pwned!"

The founder of Wikipedia says that his company, Wikia, Inc., is going to give away all the software, computing, storage and network access free for people to create community-based collaboration sites.

Read the article on Yahoo!/Reuters.

I came out as INTJ, a lot of the profile didn't seem to fit. The profile by David Keirsy seemed to fit a lot better, but also seemed to contradict a number of the things in the first profile for my personality results.

On the test page it says that INTJ makes up about 3.8% of the population, but David Keirsy says INTJs are less than 1% of the population.

I think the second language I used most was whatever language is found inside Game Maker.

I voted other because the language I've used most is ActionScript.

I just noticed ActionScript is included with Javascript. I corrected my vote.  :-[
