Hmmm, somehow the reg key I received from them failed activation. :(

It worked for me. But it says my MPEG-2 is still a trial. Everything else is registered. . .

I was into chatting and forums since I was about 12 or 13 and I never went through a trolling stage. I was in the middle of a Yahoo! Club that consisted mostly of teenagers who were seemingly always flaming each other. I'd pretty much always be the one to tell everyone to knock it off.

Okay so I installed Gears. Now what?  :tellme:

I found a great site yesterday with a bunch of animated images good for quick prototyping art. Only problem was that each frame of the animations were separate image files, and for the game engine I'm using (Torque Game Builder) it needs them all to be on one sheet. I needed a program to splice the images together! Reiner does have one on his site but it's a little more complicated than I'd like it to be. I asked around on the GarageGames forums and was directed to GlueIt, a very easy to use program to do this task easily and quickly.

GlueIt 1.06 is the perfect sprite companion, it will take a series of single images and paste them as
an image strip making the sprite animation immediatly ready to be incorporated in your sprite engine. NEW Loads .PNG, .BMP, Saves .PNG, .BMP, .JPG
It will save you ALOT of time!
Best part is, it's FREE !

The only possible downside I see to it is that it requires .NET 2.0--which isn't a problem for me.

Seems pretty easy for a while if you get a poison gas turret (double->triple->poison) up by the anthill and then some electric (quick->long range->electric) turrets and more poison gas turrets in other places.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is this? Just a collection of multimedia tools? Is this a build of Ubuntu that comes with those things installed by default? Can this run on Windows?

EDIT: Nevermind. I just needed to read the quote again before the words clicked. It's Ubuntu with those tools in it. Or something.

General Software Discussion / Re: Web Mail Recommendation?
« on: May 17, 2007, 11:28 PM »
I'm a little late to the party (Hey where'd everyone go?) but I just want to say that Gmail is indeed the best in my opinion. I used to despise webmail and feel sorry for everyone who had it. Once I started using Gmail, I stopped using my pop3 client.

 :-*

Now I feel sorry for anyone who doesn't use Gmail.

Thanks everyone for the responses.

I've decided to go with Outlook Calendar and the Vista Sidebar Gadget called Outlook Info. Seems the quickest and easiest way thus far. I've customized it so that it only shows calendar information and am in the process of building a countdown into it. It already is able to show the date/time when the calendar task is due, so implementing a countdown shouldn't be too difficult.

Although, if someone knows vbs and javascript I could certainly use the help. This thing doesn't make much sense to me, and I have to set default values for options in three or more places, it seems.

I've managed to get many of the settings to show up properly, all that's left is to actually build the countdown timer function into it, which will require a bit more of an investment of time and effort for me.

8986
I installed Outlook for the Calendar/Task options and I found a Vista sidebar gadget that lists Outlook e-mail, calendar items, and task items. I also found a countdown timer but it isn't nearly as customizable as I want and doesn't automatically get info from Outlook or anywhere else.

It's a start, but I'd really like an integrated countdown timer, too.

I wonder if it would be hard to alter the Outlook Sidebar Gadget. . .

8987
I have Office 2007 but I can't seem to find the Project 2007 they mention. Come to think of it, looks like I didn't install Outlook 2007 either. . .

8988
I'm interested in some software that mixes elements from a calendar, a todo list, and a countdown timer. Here are the features I'm looking for:

  • Calendar view.
  • Option for recurring tasks.
  • Show countdown timer on desktop for next "todo" item. This would be great if it had the options to display more than one todo item at a time and be always on top of other applications, with options to adjust font, size, color, transparency.
  • Easy way to check the task as done.

Does anyone know of anything that does this?

I agree with mouser. It's a good start.

I'm not sure how all the upgrades work and stuff, but there seemed to be a bug in which I would upgrade the range of all nearby towers, which, according to the tooltip should increase the range by 4, but they only increase by 2.

Also, it would be nice if there was some sort of way to know that when you clicked an upgrade button that it did anything. The tooltips don't update unless you click or move your mouse off and then back on.

These might be useful if I ever used IE. But since I don't, no use getting them.  :-[

PS: Folks, did you know that the makers of PHP (actually they rewrote the PHP-FI parser of Rasmus Lerdorf) Andi Gutmans and Zeev Suraski are Israeli?

Not to sound like a jerk or anything (which I probably will anyway), but why is the fact that they're Israeli pertinent? I don't believe I've ever wondered where a programmer was from. Even when the documentation has broken english I don't try to determine where they are from.

Post New Requests Here / Re: Idea: A directory box
« on: May 04, 2007, 03:06 AM »
:) How about Microsoft Windows XP?

If you drag a folder from your desktop to one of the edges of the screen, it creates a dockable Explorer window. You can also detach it and have it floating freely.

Skrommel

That's cool! I can just make a directory with a bunch of shortcuts and have a little launcher sidebar and it works on top too. Neato!

i passed the idea by cody but he says he's not giving up his coins unless we pry them from his cold dead beak.

I can make a Flash game in which that will be very possible. . .  >:D >:D

The poll question isn't really a question.

Shouldn't it say, "Are you..."

Male,
Female,
Rather not say.

Instead it says "Let's find the ration in DCC." Male, Female, Rather not say.

Uh?  :-\

BugMeNot has a FireFox extension that lets you right-click login and select BugMeNot and it tries to put in the login information for you. Very useful.
