Probably your best bet would be to load it to Vimeo

They allow 500MB a week for free.
Free acount, and free uploads.
The program is interesting, but very user friendly.
The will allow almost any  video type readily available.
We use them over at Mozilla for tutorial and interviewing purpose.

The upload process is easy and attaching the window to any forum is easy.
They also do very clear high def. These folks put almost all others to shame.

Definitely do not have to worry about that poor video quality from the other guys.

It would be greatly appreciated, and any video documentation can be linked and windowed to here.

I have been working a tutorial for some time, that will cover everything I can find, so it would be basics, to lower advanced levels.

Had not considered a video thing though

But hey, all help is welcome here

Although once created, I would place it in it's own thread

If this has been working for you under Windows seven, then this is something of note.

In XP and Vista, if you make a link to a shortcut, and then delete the shortcut you linked to, then in CD you get a ? mark, or worse the link is gone altogether.

Essentially it would break the chain after deleteing from the desktop.

I am curious if this does work, and what method you utilize to build your CD shortcut links.
Maybe it is something we are doing wrong, that you are doing right, that allows you o delete the desktop shortcut when you have esteblished the CD link?

If you are willing I would appreciate some quick notes on how you are building your links to non primary drives  :)

581
Thanks

It is nice to get some feed back on the 64 bit environment.  :-*

A suggestion from one of our other CD goers, is to take all the alternate drive programs, make a file of shortcuts to the C drive (this file can be placed anywhere in the c drive), and then make links to the shortcut in CD.

This would avoid flooding the Desktop with shortcuts that you already have in your CD  :P

Interesting suggestion. I will  leave thje suggested solution for Dormouse, if he is inclined to try.

I will also be making a note of your findings in the tutorial I am working on as well.

I thank you for posting your notes and suggestions

I also welcome you to Donationcoder.com

I hope you will enjoy and learn with your time here

I am right there with you. I hope that VIP will return soon to address the issues that I am unaware of how to.

In the mean time I thank you for the trouble, and I will be putting a post in the tutorial regarding this

Thanks again

Okey doke.

I am very curious concerning the results.
I would appreciate a post of your findings, and would place a note in the section of the Tutorial.Manual I am creating.
I will have a section for known issues.

If you would not mind I would post them to my tutorial.

I hate to admit it, but you have hit an issue, I do not have an immediate answer for, most embarrassing.

Any ways, the only time that I have noticed slowing in CircleDock and my system slowing is having a lot of custom Icons, that are large. In order to speed up boot time, and Launcher speed, was to either go back to the original Icons, or reduce the size of the custom icons.

I have never noticed a large decrease in overall systems performance/resources while using CD, most times it sit very quiet in the background an does nothing, after load. While using CD, it may us 0.3% to 0.7% of my system resources, and that is while it is spinning, the Stacks uses a little more when open.

But I am unsure that this is related to your issue!

Thanks you sir

Absolutely on the review! I have started one, but I am waiting patiently and developing and adjusting an article for DC, as progress is made. I have no idea when the next stable release will be made, but you better believe DC will have me right there on top of it, and giving DC'ers the play by play.

Thanks for the Congrats, it has been fun, exciting, and full of anxiety, but I have no complaints. Just look at what we have done in less that 30 days, and we are not done yet!
I feel greatly accomplished.
Not bad for a guy a couple of weeks outside of knee surgery and delirious on painkillers, a guy part time out of New Zealand, and a South Carolina fanatic. The forum is growing daily and the response and input is excellent. I can tell that "Raineers" have needed a home for some time.

As a note for you folks here though; there is an untested release about once every few weeks, and you are all welcome to come and try it out, we even have a Beta Testers forum to help cover the latest releases. So far so good, but Rainmeter has a long way to go. It has been 3? 4? years in absenteeism, and the dev guys are catching up as fast as they can.

If any one has any questions, I am easy enough to find here, and at the new Rainmeter forum.

Thanks again

Apparently one of the other new Rainmeter Forum Administrators has tracked me down here:
He is ratting on me, because I am also (supposed to be) working on the CircleDock tutorial as well.

J.M. , you could have at least dropped the rest of the information to the folks here.  :P

I was going to wait and make an announcement her at DC, once there was a full version release.
Here is the post release that I have worked up for other sites.

Click below for the full release information:
Spoiler
Hello Folks

Very exciting news for us Raineers.

Rainmeter; once a leader in skinned custom systems monitoring, or as Rainy put it: “Rainmeter is a customizable resource meter that can display various performance data in different formats”, has been placed back into development.
Rainmeter not only has been customized over the years to get information from your system, it has been used to create control interfaces, obtain weather, and depending on how much information you want, yes it can tell you if it is raining. The customization and skinning capabilities are all but endless, and there has been more than one article in the past stating that Rainmeter has never been used to its full potential.
Rainy dropped development some time ago, but with the release of windows Vista and 7, a call went out!
Do to public outcry Rainy opted to place Rainmeter to the Google Code site. Rainy has gathered some volunteer developers, and for the last couple of months they have been programming a storm.

Along with the return of Rainmeter development, a new forum has just been erected in the last few days, and there are forums for help, requests for plug-in development, beta testing forums has been instituted (for those that would like to work with the latest release and post their findings), an area to show off your skins in the screenshots area, and so much more to be done, had, and discussed

To aid in this Rainy has also temporarily reposted the old forum in a read only format, so that new Raineers can access help and support that was offered before the drought began.

There are already constant updates in an alpha/beta, and the latest releases can be monitored and downloaded from the new code site. Latest code changes and update logs can also be monitored at the new code site as well.

We have added an IRC channel for folks to come and ask for help, gather, and discuss Rainmeter.

The forum and IRC is run by volunteers. Rainy is here and lending assistance, but this has become a community of Raineers, for Raineers, and by Raineers.

I call on all folks interested in Rainmeter to come. Come to the new forum, our new home, and help rebuild the Rainmeter community. Help others, get help as needed, and discuss development.
A call for coders has already gone out on a couple of projects, and your help may be needed.

I send this out as the formal invitation to the rebirth of Rainmeter.
Everyone is welcome.

It has been a long drought, but the Rainmeter storm is coming.

UPDATE (04/17/2009):

We have had some magic folks.
A former Raineer, and designer of the Wireless Plug-in, has come forward and offered to host the forum for free. As of this time we are Donation free for the forum. NiteShdw has been gracious and willing and is very excited that he could help out in this manner.

We also have a new access/intro page.

Rainmeter, the Forums, the code site can now be at;

As one of the new site Administrators, and a Forum Moderator (among other things), I apologize to the DC community for not making this publication sooner. It was my intent to list this as a new product at the next stable release.
But do not hesitate, the Rainmeter community is in full swing, and all are welcome.

My sincerest apologies and regards to my fellow DC'ers

At the very least we know this much to be true; when the USB 3 is fully released to the public, it will be backwards compatible, so anything you buy now will work later.

No great loss in my opinion, and not worth the wait currently. I mean how fast do you need, currently the average system will not give you the complete I/O capability of your flash as it is, maybe when the new standard comes out these drives today, will be a bit more impressive tomorrow!?!!

Living Room / Re: Recommend to me the BEST USB stick to get
« on: April 20, 2009, 05:49 PM »
Ok, thanks for clearing that up!  So...if i understand you correctly, you're saying the 4 GB is too small, I might as well get 16 GB?

Purely a personal choice, I keep approximately 5.2 GB of software, and 6.7 GB (currently) of general graphics and documents, on mine at any time, and I deal with a lot of graphics, as I reate and deliver presentations.
As software gets larger, and the files we take with us do the same, we should always be looking forward.

I have used this OCZ drive for some time, it is shorter than some and a little thicker than others, there is always the possibility of losing the lid, but that is true of most.
I consider it a plus, and some do not, but from a safety stand point, you can not miss the obnoxious blinking LED when information is being transferred.

I find the transfer to be incredibly fast (transfer of 12GB in 15 minutes), but this may be reduced by scanning/Anti-Virus software.

4GB may be adequate for you, but I would not pay the local store prices at any rate.
Would I recommend a larger drive; Yes
Most of the IT pro's I communicate with advise the same.
At least 8GB.
It will greatly depend on how much you transfer, and how much you keep on the drive.

I have found, personally, that 4GB is always adequate until you need more.
If you are going for 4GB, get a DVD rewritable, and there is your 4GB, albeit slower, but price justified.

« on: April 17, 2009, 07:35 PM »
Ouch!

I would have no truck with someone freely hanging that individual from the tree earlier discussed, I would gladly donate the rope.

Even if there was something constructive in the post, but all we have learned is that this individual is an idiot, and if there are serious issues I would not have much of an understanding as to where to start troubleshooting and debugging.

I worked phone centers for a long time, and eventually moved onto IT Administrative work at the local jail, and If one of the folks that requested anything from me had pulled this, I would have cleared my desk of all other issues, until that individual was no longer a problem to the collective work environment. As it is I did exactly that twice in 10 years.

What bothers me is that there seems to be more ond more of these people every year.
An ugly phenomenon.

Living Room / Re: The entitled generation....Are they right?
« on: April 17, 2009, 06:25 PM »
I have pondered this for a few days, and having been raised by grandparents, and great relatives, in my younger years have given me many unique perspectives.

I will start with a few quotes:
"You have to work for your freedoms"
"The price of freedom is eternal vigilance."
"From time to time; the tree of freedom must be watered with the blood of patriots."
"If it's free there is always a price"
" 'free' is a four letter word"
And I could go on and on.

I have had an opportunity to watch and watch closely, being a Generation X'er, I have watched as the "Entitled Generation" has grown up.
I am part of the beginning of the "Entitled Generation", but the new Entitled generation has something else attached to it!
A friends son's incident sums it up nicely for me, and I will relate the story to you:
my friend's son (I will use the name David for him) came over to the house a few days ago, and he was cursing up a storm. He stated to us that while riding his bike, he was almost hit by a truck. he explained the situation to us, and after understanding his location and the maneuver that he made, I realized that he had cut off the driver, and was riding his bicycle in the middle of the oncoming lane.
I was flabbergasted, I could not believe what I was hearing, and what I could not immediately comprehend is the "fact" that he thought he was in the right.
David exudes the Entitlement Generation: he has a college education, and does nothing with it, as he has trouble understanding why someone has not handed him a 6 digit career on a platter. Therefore David is a waiter/busser at the local Casinos. David's grades and education are such that he could become and ambassador to a foreign country. He has Schools loans, and received subsidiaries from his father to support his education, but because his education has not served him any, he believes he has no responsibility to pay his loans, and when he gets warning bills, he comes to his family, and literally telling them off, explains that his failures are not his fault, therefore he should not have to suffer these harassments, and that his family should cover his expenses.
He does not understand why, or the concept, of patience or job application or interviewing skills, although we have all offered to assist.

He is also a pirate!
David will openly discuss that he downloads all types of software, music, movies whatever, and he seems proud of the fact, but in the same breath I will hear him curse the folks that would pirate software music and movies, and then sell them.

I could go on, but the bottom line is that; he feels self justified in what he does.
I believe the that we are now not only dealing with a group of folks that feel Entitled, but also a group of folks that feel They can Do No Wrong!!!
David is by no means poor by any standard and makes decent money in what he is currently doing, he recently went out and paid cash for a new Toyota Hybrid, out of his own back pocket.

It is not that they are "Right", but rather they have been doing things the way they have been doing things for so long, that now they are being told "No" they do not understand.
It is like convincing yourself of a truth, and after awhile it must be so.

As for the record companies and it's agents I think the are at the other end of the extremes.

And as we have all learned two extremes butting heads is a battle of amusement and overall damage, eventually it is the folks stuck in the middle that get hurt.

But I will point out there is a group that is missed in all this.
The poor.
I have found a lot of "poor" that pirate, and they do so based in the fact they can not afford various what have you. These folks are not Grey/Black hats, but they pirate none the less.
I am not saying it is right, but I do not blame them, especially at the expense of some of the better software.
I have acquaintances that are still running windows 98 on older systems, because the can not afford new systems, or OS upgrades, and refuse to pirate, and I applaud them.
But I hold no harm from those that do pirate, but have a consciences about what they have done.
I have a personal friend that must have pirated about $12,000.00 of software about 6 years ago. He then took what he pirated and built a business, and eventually paid for the software, and upgrades he was using, even though he knew he could pirate it. He paid.

By pirating are we taking food out of the mouths of hard working people? somewhere along the line the answer has to be; Yes.

I have a friend that has built ad-dons for FireFox for years, and recently stopped, because he was tired of the "Entitled Generation" Demanding he do this and do that.

Do I believe the "Entitled" are Right; Possibly
But only based in the fact that folks have continuously let them get away with the things that are freely offered.
Understand; the Entitled Generation does not understand the concept of respect. Respect of others and their accomplishments, and others works.

But that being said, do I believe that the Entitled, can do no wrong, self righteous are correct: NO!

One simple reason, they have not earned the right.

Even war time Vet's still pay taxes, work hard and support their countries and the capitalism  market, and I think such people "Deserve" it, and are "Entitled", but these folks never feel they should it on a platter.
I use Vet's as an example there are folks everyday that sacrifice for themselves and others that "deserve" more, that "Entitled" to at least some respect.

I feel ultimately it is a battlle of extremism, and unfortunately the various record and movie companies are right. Not because it is law, and they have money and power to manipulate law, but because they have been getting away with bilking the singers and the public for so long, it must be right.

The "Entitled" are wrong not because they are pirating, but because of the selfrighteous, 'I can do no wrong" attitude.

Although ultimately both are wrong and neither will compromise.

I will say it grinds my butt, when a person goes to a "free" software site, gets the software, does not donate to, or respect, the hard work and time that the developer has placed into the work, and then "Demands" that certain changes and updates be made.

I have no understanding of this.

I do not believe in the "Free" software.
I am poor by any countries standards, but I donate what I can, when I can.
My recent donations to DC add up about  2% of my annual income last year.
But I donated and gladly so.

I would also point out that the "Entitled" makes up for a larger group than represented. I see folks all the time complain about this and that, these people also feel disappointed they have to do anything to get their Needs and Wants.
These people are miserable and have no understanding.

On and up note though, I would like to congratulate the folks at ADOBE, they have just opened a program for the low income and students, where you can currently apply and get there new web building software for free, and a full version to boot. Apparently their is talk of expanding this to there flagship software and packages.
Now I understand that this is in the hopes that they will bill potential customers for products later on, but it is the emergence of understanding from big software sellers that is coming through.
I am just sorry it came at the expense of the current world economy.

Welcome Octupusss
And to CircleDock forums and to the Donationcoder.com community

I am sorry I did not catch the original post, I fear it was before my time here, and I have yet to review all the past posts, but since you brought it to my attention, I shall adress it now.

The MS code : 0xc0000135
is a .NET framework error, this error is given in the following circumstances.
!.) you do not have the appropriate .NET class Framework
2.) You do not have .NET installed at all
3.) your .NET framework install is damaged, or installed incorrectly
In the later, a bad install is not unusual in about 1 in every 4500-/+ installs.
The .NET Frameworking becoming damaged is even more common, especially after various updates.

CircleDock requires the .NET 2 framework (or Higher), so I would first ensure that you have it installed.
The quickest way I know how to do this is to open the Control Panel and open the uninstall programs window and see if you have and entry matching the following: Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0
If you do not have .NET Framework 2.0 or higher, you can download it here:
Micrsoft .NET Framework 2.0

If you do have the appropriate Framework, this could mean that the .NET Framework is damaged, again this is not uncommon.
In this case you can attempt to repair the installation, and I have found the following article of great use in the past:
Repairing the .NET Framework 2.0 SP2
Do not hesitate with the SP2 designation, the fix is common for 2.0 and 3.0 Framework(s)

Worst case scenario is that you will have to uninstall and then re-install the .NET Framework. A step by step article regarding this, from Microsoft, can be found at the following link:
How to manually remove and then reinstall the .NET Framework 2.0

I hope this helps.

If not, please post back, and I will see if there are any further steps that can be taken.

Good Luck

It is entirely possible.
Again I mention that I did say there may be some bias.

Site/Forum Features / Re: March 2009 Survey Discussion
« on: April 12, 2009, 09:16 PM »
Now understand what I am about to write here may have bias.

After having skipped quickly once and taken a second slower look, for some reason certain things stick out to me, beyond the bad humor and rank comments.

1.) apparently a need/want for cross-platform programs, and/or Linux induction.
2.) there are some that would wish to learn to program, and learn how; here at DC.
3.) in relation to #2 these folks would appreciate support and distributorship of their programs through DC.
4.) I agree deeply with the following, but this is not a minus. The DC site is overwhelming. Proper Navigation is an issue.
5.) Apparently a lot of guilty consciences out there. I would put this to rest by saying I just did not donate to DC, but I also donated for the ones that could not as well. Even the ones that could not donate still make this :Community" worth wild. There are those that have not donated money, that still donate their time, ans that is very valuable as well. So stop fretting.
6.) seems to be a call for tutorials of the products distributed and supported through DC
7.) Overall the folks, and the goers, here at DC have built something wonderful.

Again some of my immediate insights may have a personal bias, but it is what I immediately took notice of.
I am sure if I look tomorrow, I would find a completely different list.
