FARR Plugins and Aliases / Re: FARR plugin: FARR Remember The Milk 1.1.0
« on: September 09, 2009, 12:29 AM »
This is an awesome plug-in! thanks for all hard work.

Is it possible to apply filters such as /dueBefore:Friday, /dueWithin='5 days', etc. These are supported within the built-in search facility inside of RTM's website.

I also notice that

rtm t /thursday doesn't seem to work and that only

rtm t /today
rtm t /tomorrow

Are supported.

Thanks in advance.

Today and tomorrow are the only due date filters supported by FarrMilk at the moment. I'll consider adding the others, but certainly not this month.

i agree that we need a faster way to show all.
++ would have made the most sense until i made it be the way you specify commandline arguements :(

maybe if we did it like this:
pgdn in result view will show all, and then subsequent presses will page through the multiple-pages of results?
I just want to state again that I think it would be better to have a way to switch to extended result list that doesn't change the input box. Changing the input box triggers a re-search (I'm thinking plugins by the way).

978
I'd prefer a solution that does not change the FARR input box to switch between normal / extended result list like for example a keyboard shortcut. And use up/down to scroll through the results as was once suggested by justice.

979
Many thanks, it works now!
Matt
You're welcome!

OK, so this was problem #1: you required a physical IP number.
This is inconvenient because it changes while the logical name stays the same.
Interesting. I would have expected this to work with a name as well. All I'm doing is setting the respective curl option (CURLOPT_PROXY). I would have expected curl to make the lookup.

But now I have problem #2: the RTM page opens in Firefox and I press the [OK, I'll allow it] button and RTM acknowledges this choice. But Farrmilk doesn't get it and keeps asking this question.
Once you've pressed 'Ok, I'll allow it', make sure to go back to FARR and select the entry 'Grant Access Permission' and hit enter.

:)

ps. i have now finished recording all of the base FARR videos (38 of them in total), and i will be moving to work on the plugin screencasts next.  looks like i will definitely be doing "Another 30 Days of Screencasts" through September.
I was always wondering when you said that something would be going to be demonstrated in a later screen cast ... :)

982
And here's a tip for viewing the screen casts for once.

When viewing one of mouser's screen casts, make sure you move your mouse pointer somewhere where you can't see it. Otherwise, you could come to the conclusion that there's either something wrong with your system or that you're drunk. ;)

983
This was my first guess as well, but NO - I had filled this in with the correct proxy - the same I use with all other programs connecting outside. I have also tried using another browser. Since this is a Windows-7 installation I have also tried to make sure that administrator rights  are present.
Matt
Matt, could you please download a test tool I once made to find connection related problems from here:

http://farrmilk.obje...nticationUrlTest.zip

Then run it like this (it's a command line tool):

C:\AuthenticationUrlTest>AuthenticationUrlTest.exe Proxy

where Proxy can be either a hostname or dotted IP address and port added the usual way (i.e. with : ) and send me the output.

Cheers,
Philipp

984
Most likely you are behind a proxy server. When you are where the screen shot shows, press Enter to get to the FarrMilk options screen. Then enter your proxy server's details in the fields on the lower right. Then you should be ready to go.

985
Hi Matt,

Where do you see that error message? In the FARR status bar? Or does a browser come up with some long weird URL in the address bar and you see the error message in the browser?

986
First of all a big  for taking the time to make these screen casts! They are really cool.

Concerning FARR screen casts: I think a tour through the built-in aliases would be good. Maybe pick out the ones you personally find most useful and demonstrate how you're using them.

987
BTW, if I install this version of FScript, will it break CZB_plugin? (it requires sort of 'patched' FScript)?
I would expect czb to have this problem fixed in his version of FScript. I'm not sure to be honest though. You'll have to ask czb directly.

988
Hi anaderi,

This is a known problem of an older version of FScript used by some scripting-based plugins. You can download a newer version of FScript here:

https://www.donation....msg156890#msg156890

Maybe I need to add this info to my first post.

989
It would be FarrWindowsSearch. No, you're right, it's not there. And I don't see FarrMilk either :(

990
phitsc,

It's my turn to apologize for not responding much faster as i too, was enjoying some holiday time!  :)

Yes, issue is same a initially posted.
One thing i did notice (but don't think it has a major impact), when unzip to the plugins section there is no specific folder installed for your files. They're just loose.
When unzipping make sure you select "Unzip to 'FarrWindowsSearch'" or something like that or even better use the DCUpdater application to install it (if the FarrWindowsSearch plugin is already available). Concerning the propsys.dll problem: I'm afraid I have currently no idea how I could help you with this :(

991
Thanks for the hint, I've updated the download link on the first post.

Please, specify where can I download the latest version.
Since http://farrmru.origo.ethz.ch/download have only broken links.

992
Hi dantheman,

sorry for the late reply, I was on holiday.

I never tried with XP Home, only with Vista Home Premium and XP Professional. I can't imagine that being the problem though. Are you still having the same problem with the missing propsys.dll? And that with a freshly installed copy of Win XP?

phitsc,

I've not lost interest in this plugin!
Have recently reinstalled my notebook and it's a no go.
Is it possible that it won't work with XP Home loaded with SP2 ?

993
phitsc, in august i'm doing my 30 days of screencasts.. when i do my farr plugin screencasts i'll be sure to link to yours -- maybe we can wake some people up about the power of your plugin (or as i call it, FarrMilk).
I'm looking forward to this! Actually, I wanted to make some new screen casts of FarrMilk a couple of months ago (the ones I have are of preliminary versions with the old ugly icons). But it was taking too much of my time (unpractised), so I stopped it again.

994
we need to have a special link on the forum: Take Pity on a Coder and Respond to Post About New Feature
Or a forum bot that responds with some 'This is so cooool!', 'How could I ever have lived without [feature]', 'I love [projects] new [feature] feature' or my mouser favourite: 'holy cow!' and that sort of messages. Actually, such a bot would be a cool project all by itself (so the bot could praise it's own new features). Is there such a technology as 'forum bots'?

995
i suppose no one is using these new features that i was so excited to release?

I'm not using LBC, but I know how you feel. No reaction whatsoever to one of my favourite FarrMilk features.

996
Concerning Stickies (Zhorn) and searching & sorting: I've been playing with the thought of making a FARR plugin for that (à la FarrMilk) as I'm using it myself. But I wasn't sure how useful it would really be (I don't have that many stickies), given the amount of work it would cause. And now that hamradio made a notes plugin for FARR that gap has been closed as well.

997
When I try to search (input 3 characters), FARR crashes almost everytime. I'm using Vista 32. Am I the only one who is having this problem?
Sorry for the lack of response, forgot about your post. As it seems, no one else is having the problem, or not enough people are using the plugin (so that the problem would annoy more people).

If you're willing to help I could add some code to the plugin to help me track down the bug on your machine.

998
I have that too, but only on my Vista Home machine. On Windows XP it starts automatically after each update. Don't know if the OS is what really makes the difference though.

999
With last free WinZip version, i installed propsys.dll to manually created folder within FARR plugins section (after online Jotti's malware check), rebooted and still get same error message.  :(

Will follow up on your link later on in the day. Thanks!
Sorry for the misunderstanding. propsys.dll is not a FarrWindowsSearch dll, it is a Windows System dll (which is why it's so weird it isn't there). You'd have to copy it to the Windows\system32 directory.

Just curious.

Is it normal that the extracted files to your plugin be dispersed in the FARR plugins section?
All the other ones have their respective folders.
No. That is certainly not correct! Make sure to unzip to a subdirectory instead of 'unzip here', or use Window's own 'Extract All...'.

Also, i wonder why i would need this propsys.dll on a freshly installed OS without any tweaking programs like CCleaner running?
To be honest, I would expect propsys.dll to be installed on a freshly installed Windows XP or Vista. I found this: http://pcsupport.abo...nd-missing-error.htm
