...and which logitech mouse would that be?  it looks similar to a wired mouse i used to use with my laptop.

152
I've owned an Actual Tools license in the past, and I must drop a warning that you are only buying 3 months of support & future versions when you buy this product.  A very not-so-fair deal in my opinion.
But still a well written & supported program, with good features.

153
WOW! Nice find, Invaluable Software. Just giving this a bump so people don't miss it, only 5hours and minutes left to get in for $15.00!!

I would also like to thank DCoder & Martin again for the copy I won many months ago.  Good job with flexibly promoting your product, better than most others out there.

154
Given the right search parameters, I would imagine you could accomplish this.  But I would be one that would prefer to keep the live indexing turned off if at all possible, thats all.

155
There is one feature I have been wanting for a long time, but have never taken the time to speak up about it.  It would be quite helpful if the main search window (Name & Location) had a 4th dialog box below "Look In:"  Essentially what it would do is, whatever you type into that box is like a live filter of any search results that have been returned to you.  So it, wouldn't take up any processing power or run in the background, but as you type characters into that box it filters down the search results that were returned to you.  That way if i knew I was looking for a text file, but not sure which exactly, and had a bunch a different combinations to search, I could just search .txt, then, saving myself alot of searches and leaving every possible file I'm looking for (.txt) in front of me, I could continuously try different typed combinations to narrow down my results (and they narrow as i type in that box), just without having to execute more searches.

Basically for me, it's like executing a Newsleecher search then filtering the results using the 'live' results filter.
Make sense?  I hope! :)  Any chance this could happen for locate?

Thanks for listening.

Mini-Reviews by Members / Re: MetaProducts TrayIcon Pro 1.7.219

Nice Review.  Not a product I have a need for, but, that really was a well done second effort!

I have a somewhat related question, I see the feature for folding code in these programs, but I've always wondered if it was possible to "fold cells" in MS Excel.  Say I was doing a excel sheet of all the cd's i own, I want to enter the album & the track infos in their own rows, but i want to hide the tracks on each album in a collapsable/folding row(s) to save viewing space.  Anyone know if this is possible?  Thanks.

158
Looks like they went with SMF Forums http://smf.citizendium.org/ - go figure  :P

159
for me it's either Locate (http://locate32.webhop.org/) or File Locator Pro (http://www.mythicsof....com/filelocatorpro/), no exceptions ;)

General Software Discussion / Re: Mp3 catalog/database programs

If you can get past the initial shock of pricing system, check out Music Label 2006/2007 (http://www.codeaero.com/).  It is by far the best out there for cataloging music. Otherwise, I would say Where is it? (http://www.whereisit-soft.com/).

I will go months without listening to pandora, then *poof* someone posts in this thread flipping that switch in my head to listen me some pandora.  so tanks.

162
I too would like to thank mouser/donationcoder & Emurasoft for the copy of Emeditor.  It will be put to constant use - now I don't have to keep debating which allaround text editor I will actually use for most tasks.
DC ROCKS!

I would like to say that I really like XYplorer and was happy to get in on the DonationCoder discount to purchase it ;)

BUT. and it's a big BUTT..... It does not support dual panes and the author states it NEVER will. I guess this is a big peave of his and says he doesn't want it and doesn't like it when talk of this feature comes up in the XYplorer forums.  Personally I just find myself really missing this feature, ALOT.   I do not understand why someone who writes a program to sell to users, says it's NOT something HE wants in his program and therefore it will NOT be there. Leaves me more inclined to believe that somehow the code would actually not be able to function properly if this was implemented, because it CAN be an optional feature.   I also don't think that adding that one feature desired by many, would have to lead to bloating the program with a longer list of other features.

Ok no more CAPS ;)

Aside from that Glaring omission, this program is very fast, customizable and well supported.  Definitely a top 6 in the world of explorer replacements. Others of course being:

Total Commander
Directory Opus
xplorer2
Servant Salamander
Free Commander

General Software Discussion / Re: foobar...honestly...WTF?! WTF?!
« on: September 26, 2006, 04:57 AM »
You're pretty much bang on the money.

Foobar is like 7-zip (and quite a few others). Good software, with an impossible interface. Neither of the rise to the level of decent usability. The programmers aren't interested in that aspect of software.

You're kidding right?  OMFG foobar has more usability and features than any audio player out there (add plugins too).  It's VERY deep.  It just so happens to also be VERY poorly documented.  Take the time, learn it, it's Uber powerful.  Unfortunately is does feel like learning regex syntax or scripting or another not so learn it in an hour task.

Site/Forum Features / Re: Recent topics

I'd like to see 'recent topics' back on the toolbar, as I keep that top area minimized as it takes up too much space otherwise.

Opera is most secure and loads pages nicely most of the time. Downside is its closed source, so flexibility is what you can achieve by manipulating customization files, no outside tools.
Firefox is the most flexible with it's extensions and customizable files.  Downside is its security and breaking of extensions.
Maxthon is fastest and easiest to use, with a decent array of plug-ins. Downside is it's an IE shell so it's weak on security like Firefox.  And never any core updates to IE6. (then there is IE7)

They all have their advantages and disadvantages.  I recommend having all 3 installed and dabbling with all of them on a regular basis.

I just have to blurt out that I am SO over hearing which is better, because the answer is None. It's give & take, probably always will be.

IE actually has always had the most potential to be the best all-around because it's not closed and development COULD be organized much better than Firefox is, and funding wouldn't be a problem.  Problem is, Microsoft has already shown in the past how unimportant updating a browser is.  After IE7 Final is out, why would this change?  They just need a new hype (IE7), then they will probably leave IE out to dry like they did with version 6, with the exception of occasional security updates.

another GREAT find!  nice work and thanks for sharing this. Personally I use True Launch Bar, but I've never been able to decide which other program to use, ie. Samurize, Widgets, etc...

As far as mailing list vs. forum, I personally much prefer forums. It used to be that forums weren't as full-featured as your email client in terms of formatting, spell-checking, unread post tracking, etc. but modern systems like SMF and vB take care of most of those things very well. So the arguments for using a mailing list are diminishing. There are still some who simply like to download everything and read it "offline" at their leisure. It's just what works for their particular work approach I suppose.

Actually both Invision & vB have made this very easy to do with the newer option to download a full thread in your choice of formats.  I am on like 6 forums that use Invision and about 16 that use vBulletin.  On a good server, I much prefer vBulletin, but thats just me.  I too would love to see a review of forum softwares, if not even just a list of all the options out there, with what each one can do & can't do and let the user decide from there.

Living Room / Re: list of free software offered by MS
« on: August 06, 2006, 11:25 AM »
that is impressive.  kudos to the person that did that.

173
I think investing in vBulletin ($120?) is the smartest move you can make if looking at a forum, which IS the best way to get a community started.  It's very familiar, fast & flexible.

General Software Discussion / Re: Maxthon 2.0 Invitation
« on: August 05, 2006, 05:12 PM »
Thanks for the heads up, these days I just use Maxthon as backup to firefox.  I do miss how much faster it could load a group of pages than firefox does, hopefully there will be exhaustive improvements, including memory usage in the new version.  Can't wait.

That kind of reminds me of this old gem:

http://video.google....-2542580036602389550

Wonder if that guy still had his same job with Microsoft after that.  You would think he would have run multiple simulations first to make sure something like that wouldn't happen.  Then again Win98 was so unpredictable even AFTER it was released.
