I wanted to update potential developers on the status of the SDK.

Currently there is an issue with the amount of C# plugins you can put to FARR directory. The reason is that each FarrRCW.dll is .NET assembly and they are all identical in .NET sense (same identity). Basically it means that for every C# plugin there must be a unique RCW dll (and not just a copy as I thought).

Now, recompiling the RCW dll is relatively easy process (rename project & recompile) however, not everyone have C++ compilers and I am aware that many programmers out there never did anything beside C# and possibly don't have anything that can compile C++ installed. I still hope I can find a way to let anyone just change the RCW dll identity without any additional tools as the only other alternative I see now, is forcing people to recompile SDK everytime they want to develop a plugin.

In the while, if you have a plugin you want to develop, simply remove FARRAltTab from your plugins during development process so you'll always have only one C# plugin. If you want to publish it, let me know and I'll send you a unique RCW dll.

Hope it will get solved soon :(.

Very cool!

P.S I hope in the version of the site there will be a place for repository of aliases as well of as of plug-ins (with some rating/categorizing/tags system maybe? ;))

Welcome aboard!
Also don't miss the clipboard plugin (KlipKeeper), Uninstall plugin, ProcessKill plugin and Calculator plugin.

Those are my favorites.

While we're on the topic :)
Updated the AltTab source plugin to the current latest version (1.15) and updated the SDK. The only thing that got added is an option to send to FARR callback commands (e.g change the status bar).

105
Hmm. Well. Unless you can debug it yourself, send me the files, see if I can reproduce it :)
I'll PM you my gmail.

NullReferenceException is a .NET exception. What did you copy to FARR plugin directory?
Did you make your plugin directory with both the wrapper and your plugin inside?

Find And Run Robot / Re: How to use "noresults" alias?

Got it working.
Thanks =)

1) %paths% currently aren't recognized by FARR as valid paths, same thing with network paths (though I guess you are aware to this). It would be great if I could actually use them as regular path in FARR, but even just opening them directly would be nice.

2) SlickRun has a rather limited auto-complete that remembers your history input but currently FARR has none. It would be nice if FARR could implement a nicer auto-complete. I was thinking that when you start to type, along the results in the bottom there is a similiar (but smaller) list box popping up with auto-complete options sorted by match\amount of use.

Find And Run Robot / How to use "noresults" alias?
« on: December 10, 2007, 01:57 AM »
I tried several ways but nothing seems to work, that's what I tried:

1000>>>noresults>->No results found | noresults cmd $$1

What am I doing wrong?

Sorry dude, it does look fine :(
I really have no idea.

Are you able to debug it? I could assist you there.

I tried it and it is really horrible to watch. Frankly, I just can't get get myself to put it on the screen.
Besides that, it felt slow. I admit I didn't test it more than that though.

Woah.
That stinks man.

Are there any event logs in the Application/Security log?

zajc: What about .net security configuration?
In .NET you can restrict access of managed code to certain places.
Can you run .NET application under your computer? Is FARR on your local disc?

I wish I could remote debug over internet =\

Hmm. At work I have a computer connected to the network with a domain and still it works fine.
The other thing you say though - lack of administrator permissions. That could be the problem. I'll have to check it on another computer with regular user account.

That's really.... What's your FARR version?
I guess you were able to upgrade to the latest version and you see more than 9 items?

Something is really wrong here.

New version 1.15: Now shows all the Windows, including those that were previously skipped (liked iTunes) also, shows all the open Windows and does not limit to 9 as before
I think by now it is completely viable windows alt+Tab replacement.

If you notice any window that doesn't show on AltTab but should (or hidden window that shouldn't), let me know - it might happen.

I can't install this plugin on Vista 64-bit :(
I have a folder \FindAndRunRobot\Plugins\FARRAltTab\ and 4 files in it

The file list looks fine. Anyone else has Vista 64 and has the plugin working or not working?

Could it be a .NET framework issue? How to check if you have .NET framework
Do you see inside of Framework directory a folder named v2.0.50727? Link to get .NET 2
Do you get any error message boxes when you start FARR?

It sounds strange to me :(

great ! ... i thought ;)

still the same behavior for me  :-[
 (see attachment in previous post)

That's really strange. That is the bug I fixed.
Are you sure it is the latest version? Does it say 1.11 in version manager?

Mouser: It might be a FARR bug in a way too but it should be fixed from the in the latest version.
This occurs when the SearchState says "Items" but the Count is 0.

Even though I tell that the search "Stopped", FARR still shows as it is still searching.

And everyone! Thanks for the complements :)

You misunderstood. FARR does see the inner icon in the group (of the first alias) but it doesn't show the icon of the group itself.

Here is another example. I created a group/alias to "C:\Program Files" named pf:

1000>>>pf>->C:\Program Files

When I write "p" however, I see it without the explorer folder icon:

Screenshot - 26_11_2007 , 00_05_23.png

As you can see the "pf" groups on #2 but the icon is empty. Now if I complete the group name to "pf".

Screenshot - 26_11_2007 , 00_05_42.png

Now you can see that the name of the alias gets the icon just fine.
Now what I wish would happen is that the first alias icon would become the group icon IF the group icon has otherwise no icon.

Thanks!

This is what I mean:

FARR.JPG

123
For example, I am searching for Visual Studio and decide I want to assign an alias for it.
So I do "Add to group alias" (new one) and assign the alias devenv.

However, when I write "dev" I see lots of results and one of them is devenv however since this group (with one alias) has no icons, I see a blank icon.

Another solution would be to give groups with no icons the icon of their first alias.

Try the new version. It should load a LOT faster now.

The difference between .NET and using the raw Windows API functions :(

125
I'd like to expand my prvious idea:
https://www.donation...43.msg85801#msg85801

When you do "Rightclick->Add to group alias" it fills the path for you but it wouldn't take the icon. So in result I have lots of aliases with empty icons.

P.S An alternative solution would be to create a folder with shortcuts, just as it is done with "cpanel".
