Perfect, thanks, I will update to the beta then! :)

Can you make to center only if it is completely outside of visible area? Basically I like it to be visible on the last place I moved it unless it's really not even visible because it's on a non existing screen!

3
Is it possible to capture the audio that is playing through the computer (internal speakers output) instead of through the microphone?

Thanks for input @Nod5, @BGM, looks great

Hello,

I have a batchfile that requires a %1 argument.

When searching for this batchfile, I would like to be able to drag&drop into this FARR result to open an application with added %1 argument.

Alternatively, does any know of a small "drag & drop" executable that would just open a bank window for dropping, and that after dropping would close and provide the dropped link as an command line variable? With that variable, I would then pass it to the batch file!

Interesting?! ;)

Two topics related with icons on the toolbar as well:

Fix: 01. Toolbar shortcut items with relative path are not showing the icon - "..\Winamp Lite\winamp.exe" launches winamp but it does not show the winamp.exe icon while "c:\sw\Winamp Lite\winamp.exe" does! (it does show relative path icons if FARR is restarted but it will remove them again when clicking "Configure Toolbar" and "OK")

Feature: 18. Toolbar shortcut items with custom icon - add option to select a specific icon instead of using the builtin .exe icon - could be handy to assign an icon to batch file as well!.

They are part of my wishlist for Farrv3, It's an old thread but 100% up to date!! heheheeh

Screenshot Captor / Re: SC - smart screenshot folder
« on: August 01, 2020, 12:54 PM »
if the SC systray icon would change color / overlay icon when there are screenshots on the folder and when it's empty it would do the trick of reminding me to clean up the folder more promptly and separate the good screenshots from the garbage ones!!

That way the folder would not need to be the desktop!

Screenshot Captor / SC - smart screenshot folder

Great software and difficult to find improve points but here is a picky idea!!!

I have screenshot folder to be directly the %Desktop% - This is so I can promptly organize or just delete screenshots instead of leaving a bulky folder behind.

This setup that I have been using for years, also creates some issues as sometimes the desktop gets full.

I now tried to have a subfolder (like %Desktop%\SS), and this is where I see it can be improved.

I want to see the SS folder on my desktop only if there are screenshots inside, otherwise I don't want to see that empty folder.
This just means that if the folder %Desktop%\SS exists there are screenshots for me to organize / delete!

Some topics that might help to make this happen:
--> SC to create %Desktop%\SS only after taking / saving a SS (if the folder does not exists!)
--> SC to not create %Desktop%\SS folder on startup (which is just leaving an empty folder)
--> SC explorer to use the first existing parent folder to monitor when the default does not exist (When double-clicking systray to open SSC)

Feasible? :)

Hi Mouser,

This is an old topic, but the "Launch, stay open and continue searching" is something that could be really handy when searching multiple document of one topic/keyword.

I understand it might be difficult to implement and was thinking of some "Workaround" or way to make it easier to improve here.

Whenever we have a result and the user clicks an item, FARR stops populating results - This is what is happening now and I guess it might be because the user can then trigger the context menu and would also be annoying to have the selection being moved all the time.

So a workaround solution, would be to have the searched "Paused" or just running in a different thread when the user has selected something, but as soon as an action is triggered or the user selects the search field again, the search could resume or the background tread able to put the newly found item in the list!

Doable challenge?! :D

As a workaround, it is also possible to click "ALT Space" then select "move" and use the arrow keys to move it back to a visible place!

Launch file, Keep FARR opened and Continue searching! - "ctrl+dbl click" launches the file and keeps FARR opened but it should also keep populating results insead of stopping further search!

@mouser, maybe a good idea to be included on the next version? ;)

No indexing in FARR. The alias is triggered by appending two spaces the end of a search string. The alias opens everything.exe with the search query from FARR.

I use it when searching for things in FARR, if it doesn't provide a result, just append two spaces, same query is then searched in Everything

Ok! Looks a good idea still, will give it a try someday... or hopefully mouser gets inspired and implement indexing that would be handy at least for a 1st stage search ;)

So I have an alias like this:
1000>>>Search with Everything>->dolaunch C:\Program Files\Everything\Everything.exe -search "$$1">+>(.*)\s\s$

How is this working? Do you get the results in FARR? That would mean indexing on FARR exists!!!!

This NoClose from skrommel is quite nice.

Is it possible to the opposite?

If some application has the Close button disabled, to put it enable?

Similar with the option on the "Advanced tweaking\More interface option\enable/disable toolbar icons" it would be nice to have an identical on to enable/disable the systray icons
;)

Screenshot Captor / Default save folder - systray
« on: January 25, 2020, 06:33 AM »
Hello,

Sometimes I want to save the screenshots I take, other times I just want them to be on the clipboard.

Is it possible to put a systray context item and a toolbar icon to toggle the automatic file save?

Not sure if this filesave is something that is really needed for SSC. If not possible to disable this file save, then it would also be ok, to have the systray icon to quickly swap between two defaults saving folders (Similar with the GoTo menu but without having to select a folder.) Anyhow, to have the GoTo menu also on the systray would already be a good improvement.

Keep up with the updates!

Thanks for the latest update :)

I would like to give a small suggestion, the "copy" button icon is very similar with common "paste" button icon found in microsoft application which confuses when people try to copy/paste objects! Maybe it would be better to replace with the copy icon from windows/word.

See attached picture of the icon "Copy current screenshot to clipboard as bitmap"

Regarding icons, it could be really handy to add a feature/option to show batchfiles icons in a different way:

if a batchfile named "testfile.bat" has, in the same folder, an icon file "testfile.ico" it could use that icon instead.

(I often use batchfiles, but don't want use a tool like bat2exe to embed the icon because the antivirus incorrectly usually detect the output exe as a virus)

:D

Thanks for the feedback Mouser :)

It would be better to have the "Capture Window Object"  and the "Capture Scrolling Window" as separate things.
Scrolling already has lots of things for people to think about!! ;)

And then it would be nice to have that option that would automatically save previous settings and automatically do the following:
  • Begin scrolling Window Capture on this window
  • Start Stitching and Capture
  • Click guess margins

I mean, once the settings are done, it would be nice not to have to do the same steps all over!

I guess the best would be to have profile setting for each target app, but maybe that's a lot of work, so having a save button to store default settings would do the trick for people who want to target only one app

Hi,

Which setting does the option "immediate capture, don't prompt with choices for scrolling capture" uses? (This option appears when right click on the red frame on window selection)

It seems to just take a screenshot without even scrolling!

Would be nice to use the last settings, for example, automatically select the following on the upcoming windows:

  • Begin scrolling Window Capture on this window
  • Start Stitching and Capture
  • Click guess margins

Cheers
