N.A.N.Y. 2011 / NANY 2011 pledge: GOE 2007 "MyHelp" remake for web
« on: December 23, 2010, 08:55 AM »
Hi, I am IN this year too!

For this year's N.A.N.Y. I'll make remake of my GOE 2007 entry "MyHelp" ( https://www.donation...ex.php?topic=11166.0 )

Unlike MyHelp, I'll develop this one as web application and publish it on web so that you could access your notes from anywhere, anytime. There will also be many things I find interesting that does not exist in MyHelp... But since I'm developing it all by myself, I'll create it all "one at a time..." :-)

I probably started developing this too late ( 2 - 3 weeks ago ) , but I will do my best to finish it by 31. December!

Link
http://www.kdarko.users.cg.yu/downloads/MGTD.zip
System Requirements
  • Java JRE >= 1.6 update 7
Author https://www.donation...x.php?action=profile

I started writing this application few days ago because I will soon need to create a document (at work ), just like the one that this application generates. I am currently working on a project , and need to provide a complet list of all tables and constraints for several users in DB that we created... I, maybe, could use some existing application to do this, but I wanted to make it myself ;-)

Not many people could use , or might need this kind of application, but for those who DO, here it is...  ;)

This app is not for release yet, so there is no download link provided at this moment, and no screenshot.

Description:

With MGTD ( do not ask what it means  :) )  you can easily generate a document (.html) containing information about all ( selected ) tables and constraints for a selected user, in Oracle.
Every table is described ( what columns it contains , what data type ( ans size of it) , nullable? information and a comment ) and there is also a list of all constraints for that table ( Primary keys, Checks, Foreign keys and Unique keys ).
You can select what you want this app to generate, and you can also filter or exclude tables, change colors for rows containig these data, etc.

Usage
Installation
No installation is required. Just copy/paste files that I'll provide here soon.
This app is written in java, so you need to have JRE 1.6  installed on your system.

Using the Application
User must first log on to DB, optionally filter tables or exclude some , select a path where to save generated document, optionally select prefered colors and click "Generate".

Uninstallation
Just delete pasted files.

Planned Features
As for now, only supported extension when saving generated document is .html. I plan to add .pdf and .doc or .rtf as well...

Known Issues
I'm developing this application when I have that short free time, and developing it with a great hurry. I hope that all the queries that I wrote in it are  completelly OK. If not, I'll improve it... As for now, it all seems ok...
I need those testing days that I don't have...   :(

p.s.
Excuse my english...

« on: March 07, 2007, 06:37 AM »
Hello!

I need to make an application to print  more than 10 000 .ps files from a folder.

I don't know much about .ps files, or even how to open it except with adobe destiller

or, let's even forget about file extension...

How would you print more than 10000 regular .doc or .pdf files ...???

Developer's Corner / BCB and MySQL
« on: March 01, 2007, 04:50 AM »
Hi to everyone...

I have a project to make, and I want to use BCB and MySQL .

Based on your experience, is this a good combination...?

I often find texts on the internet saying that this is not a good combination, and that BCB and MySQL just don't get along...

What do YOU have to say about this?

Do you have any FREE BCB-MySQL  components to recommend. It also has to be BUG-FREE :-)
And the most important thing is: I need components that doesn't need any extra drivers and stuff  installed on server or host in order to use my app ... ( for example: BDE )

N.A.N.Y. Challenge 2007 / Virtual Resolution (V.R.) 1.0
« on: December 31, 2006, 05:30 AM »
------Virtual Resolution 1.0-----------

First public release

-------------------------------------------
Description:

Every time i develop some application, I need to see can it fit to several different resolutions.

You could easily see this just by looking at height and width of a form, but it is much easier this way, and faster...

Select resolution you wish to check, cick apply - and that's it!

You can also enter any non-standard resolution.

I made this programme for my personal use, so it is not pro, but i use it all the time, and it helps me...

Are there any third party libraries for BCB?

Any suggestion?
Tips...??

Developer's Corner / Are you satisfied with BDS 2006 (Turbo C++) IDE ??
« on: September 24, 2006, 06:09 AM »
I can't say i'm satisfied with BDS 2006 (Turbo C++) IDE

I personaly like Borland 6 IDE more.

--I like palettes more where they where in BCB 6. That way they take less of valuable work space and it was easier to work with them .

--Also, the thing i like in BCB 6 is that I can freely move Forms where ever i like on desktop...In BDS 2006 and Turbo C++ Forms are "static".Something like in VB?? I think this is really bad! It's easier to work with Forms you can move where ever you like....Why did they made it static?

Because of these things , no matter how big your screen is, with new IDE you never get enough space...
"Structure","Object inspector", "Project manager" and "Tool Palette" take allmost half of screen!! I really think that there is no need for this!
I have a TFT monitor, 17' with 1280 x 1024 resolution and i'm allways short in work space. This has never happened to me in BCB 6 ....

Is there a way to set BDS 2006 (Turbo C++) to look like BCB 6?? :-(

Which IDE do YOU like better, and why?

« on: September 22, 2006, 04:27 PM »
Although it is not in english , I want to share this with you anyway.
The biggest daily newspaper in Montenegro wrote an article about SQL AM as a

winning entry in C++ programming contest so we took an oportunity to promote www.donationcoder.com as well...
It doesn't mean much to you, but here is a link to it... ;-)

Borland C++ Builder Contest / SQL Advanced Manager 1
« on: August 17, 2006, 07:07 AM »
Here's little about our program...

SQL Advanced Manager is a great solution for:
-professionals and amateurs who in any manner work with databases, especially MS ACCESS
-students
-people who would like to learn SQL

It’s main purpose is to work with database via SQL queries. However, it also provides many other things such as fast accessing to all the tables in the database, and also to all the fields in those tables…
Some main features are:
-Quick access to all the data in any table with just one mouse click
-Many tools and wizards which simplify working with your database
-Syntax assistant is also integrated into the program, so the beginners would not have any problems while learning SQL, and the professionals, on the other side, would have a quick reminder on basic SQL syntax.
-Possibility of remembering 50 temporary queries for quick access to any query you found interesting
-Working with Images. You can easily insert picture into database, or view images inside database with integrated picture viewer.
-Easily save any successful “SELECT FROM…” query as a new table
-Bookmark as many databases on your HDD  as you want, and have a quick access to any bookmarked database
-Double monitoring of your work: you can easily access to all of your work in current work session via “history” and especially via “Console window”
-With “Quick database preview” tool you can easily and quickly  explore  MS ACCESS databases on your HDD. Find out fast which database on your HDD has tables and fields you are interested in…
- Define date format you wish to use while writing SQL queries and use it! This is totally independent from windows date format
-Easily add a table name or any field name in that, or any other table to query
-Easily add a date to query
-associate SQL AM1 with both *.sql and *.mdb. If you start database, SQL AM will automatically connect to it, and if it is *.sql or *.txt or something like SQL AM will prepare opened query for execution…
-Save all your work and actions…
etc.

Supported database is MS ACCESS, so there is no need for you to install any server or to go to internet in order to execute your queries.
Good thing is that you don’t even need to have MS ACCESS installed on your computer in order to work with MS ACCESS databases via  SQL Advanced Manager 1!!
You just need database file created in MS ACCESS (“*.mdb”)…

We will put download link as soon as we upload installation file on the internet...

Developer's Corner / running program on different resolutions
« on: July 19, 2006, 08:33 AM »
Admin, if this is not the place to ask these kind of questions, please move it to some other place on this forum, but PLEASE send me a private message to tell me where you moved it...

Lets say you made a program on 1280 X 1024 resolution.

Of course when you run this program on a 800 X 600 or 1024 X 768 or some other (smaller) resolution, this program will not look as it should!
You probably won't even be possible to see it entirely...

What do you do with it to make it look the same (make it entirely visible) on any resolution?? Is there a solution for this?

Thank you..
