Post New Requests Here / "IDEA" Routine for saving or keeping track of Desktop Icon positions.

"IDEA" From time to time I like to reorganize the positions and layout of my desktop icons and wondered if anyone knows of a simple routine that will restore the positions of the desktop icons back without having to manually restore them to where they were before being changed. Also, just "very" occasionally, some conflict or other cause has resulted in my icons on bootup being all messed up and I have to usually restore them back manually.
I could of course use System Restore but that's not always convenient especially if the problem with the icons becoming disarranged coincides are happens shortly affter installing Microsoft Updates which means using System Restore requires the updates to be redownloaded and installed again when a simple little routine which keeps track of, or saves the desktop icons and their positions would be very handy indeed for me.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.
