You have my thanks as well.  I always check this thread when it pops up with a new reply.

Okay, I've had my fill.  LOL.
Now to install https://www.informat...ers.com/topicscape/# and play with that for a while. :)

Hmm.. The TopicScape downloader doesn't seem to work.  Oh well.

Yep... Mostly it's just a geek toy for my purposes.  Thanks for the link!

.. BumpTop still looks pretty great! ..
Do you know if there is a compiled exe (Windows) of the latest?

Living Room / Re: AI Coding Assistants (Who uses them and which)

I'm not a professional coder.  I just do AHK v2 for fun.  Claude.ai has gotten pretty good.  I use if frequently.  I mostly used ChatGPT before that.  GPT was often pretty good at laying out the logic for how the code should work (assuming I articulated my needs well).  It would make code with so many syntax errors, though, that it was easier to just write the code myself.   Claude is pretty good with syntax too though.

General Software Discussion / Any new "List Hotkey" apps?
« on: December 26, 2023, 11:57 AM »
I still have, and occasionally use, the excellent Ethervane ActiveHotkeys
https://www.donation...ex.php?topic=18189.0
by Tranglos.  It looks like Tranglos hasn't been on the DC forums for 4 years, so I didn't reply to the thread.

Over the years I've seen a couple of similar apps.  Of course they all suffer from Windows OS limitation of not being able to tell you which app the hotkey is associated with.  Has anyone tried to make a "logger" that would always run in the background, and watch for hotkey presses, then attempt to determine which app is being affected by them?  The app could then save the "assumed associations" to an .ini file and use them to populate a List Hotkeys app like ActiveHotkeys...

Of course antiviruses would probably flag this as a virus(?)  I dunno.  Seems like it might be a worthy project.

Thoughts?

Does anyone know if this still works with the Reddit changes?

What is OBS?  Is it one of Mouser's apps?

EDIT:  It must be this:  https://obsproject.com/

Microsoft Defender is giving a false positive for viruses.  :(

Regarding future features:  I was also thinking about multiple shots, but I just tried it, and it already will do multiple shots!  I'm not sure if it matters, but I have an AutoHotkey script with a bunch of hotsrings that is always running in the background, so I assigned Alt+Shift+R to run RaptureReplica.exe.  That is how I "call" RR.  It appears that Windows will run multiple instances of the exe.   Each shot will stay open until I right-click it.  So that's cool.

Other ideas:
-Allow increase/decrease of opacity/transparency via mouse wheel up/down, when hovering over the shot.

-Auto save the last X number of shots in some backupfolder. Auto-name them "Raptured-<date and time>" or something like that.

FYI Short screencast:
https://app.screencast.com/fVgY4QvY940Hx

I didn't record all of both monitors, because that would be too wide to view.  This shows half of my primary monitor (on the left; set at 125%) and half of my external monitor (on the right, set at 100%).  You can see that RR handles the two scales pretty well!

I am so glad that it finally works for multi monitor, even different scaled
What else needs a fix, i visit now more often back to read an update if needed anything else  :-* (I guess multi monitor was the biggest bug, so happy that its gone, you cant imagine  8) )
And again, sorry that it needed that long for me  :-[
It's all good.  The scaling issue was minor and easy to work around.  I'm not aware of anything else that needs to be fixed.   If you are looking for feature requests...  I can come up with a few.   :P

If anyone reads this, and they aren't able to download the RaptureReplica zip file with Chrome (like I wasn't), I recommend just using FireFox (which I did).
I do not know whats the difference between chrome and firefox, are they saying it is virus?
(I use opera webbrowser and never had problems but ofc nobody needs opera to just download my file... i really do not know how to fix that)
The .exe inside is not compressed/modified, it is like compiler gave it and ofc no malware or virus is attached from me.

It's the Norton add-in that is causing trouble.  It blocks every singe donationcoder page.  I'm usually able to click the "proceed anyway" button.  I don't even remember installing the add-in.

Ugh...  Chrome and Norton are being jerks.  I just wrote a reply to this thread and the stupid virus warning screen made me lose the entire message.  Anyway...   I wanted to say thanks for the update KodeZwerg!  It seems to work perfectly!  My setup is that my main laptop monitor is set at 125% and my external monitor is 100%.  I did multiple selections with RaptureReplica, dragging diagonally in all four directions.  I did this on both monitors and it worked perfectly.  I even did a selection across both monitors and it worked.

If anyone reads this, and they aren't able to download the RaptureReplica zip file with Chrome (like I wasn't), I recommend just using FireFox (which I did).

Thanks again KZ!  I've been using RR consistently since you first posted it!

My experience with OCRing scanned stuff is that, if there are tables and you want to convert those into Word tables or Excel sheets, then you almost have to have something that uses the ABBYY OCR engine.    Unfortunately, to convert entire PDFs, you need the expensive subscription ware (which I'm not willing to pay for).    I do have the $10 ABBYY Screenshotter.  It only does one page at a time though.

I use PDF-XChange Editor.   I think it might use Tesseract technology.   It's pretty good too.  It messes up tables, but otherwise is good.

N.A.N.Y. 2022 / Re: Now what's this?
« on: July 10, 2022, 10:20 AM »
Mouser (or Mods) maybe you should just include a link from this NANY 2022 page that points back to this current forum thread...   That way people who land on the page (but aren't aware of this forum thread) won't think that NANY  completely is dead.

I'm hoping that it will stay alive for at least another year.   That way, I won't feel like I've jinxed the whole darn thing by finally submitting something after being only a consumer for the last decade.  I can't count how many times I've joined or signed up for something just to have it immediately be cancelled or otherwise disappear.   I suppose a lot of people have similar experiences though...  "Regression to the mean?"

EDIT:  I realize that there is a link on the sidebar of the page, but I think a lot of us have developed a tendency to mentally filter-out sidebars, as well as top and bottom banners.  The eye just goes to the middle of the page.   Which is blank.

Thanks for the replies folks.

I have hundreds (thousands?) of sites bookmarked in Chrome.   Whenever I go to cull out the ones I don't need anymore, I either get distracted or overwhelmed and give up.   I was thinking that it would be great if there was a tool that would let me delete all the ones that haven't been used in 2 years, or 1 year.   It would be good if I could even just delete all the ones that no longer point to anything valid.

Do you guys have any tips for this?

Does anyone know if there is a place to download Ethervane Echo?  Trangulos' site seems to be down.

I wonder it anyone has tried to make an app that records when a hotkey press happens (or even invokes it), then records any new Windows processes/treads/etc that follow it immediately in time?  Then it could make a "best guess" at what the hotkey was assigned to.

Of course Windows wouldn't like this because it would look like a virus.

Ethervane ActiveHotkeys does seem to work (Win 10)

General Software Discussion / Tool to find where a hotkey press goes?
« on: February 03, 2022, 05:00 PM »
Ctrl+Alt+Shift+C stopped working in one of my apps.  I think it's because I probably assigned it to a different app and can't remember which..  :-\   Is there a tool that can "detect" which app is using the keypress?  I see some info about a tool called Spy++, but I think you have to have Visual Studio installed to use that.  Do you guys know of any other utilities to do this?  I'm on Win 10.

EDIT:  I figured it out...  I had an AHK thing set to that hotkey.

Insistently, I don't think it's possible to "see" where hotkeys go in Windows.  Nirsoft has an app that will tell you which hotkeys are free vs used.  It can't tell you what they are assigned to though.
