Screenshot Captor / Re: Cutting out an image from it's background..
« on: January 11, 2015, 09:09 PM »
Hey Tom, thanks for responding..

So, I have uploaded many iterations of the Global Wand - Invert - Crop process and they all seem to maintain some kind of background.

One version was the red car resting on a white background which I thought I had separated but alas, when I pasted it onto my website, the white background was included..You can see the subtle difference in white between the original background and my websites white page...

The Grey version clearly shows as Grey..regardless of the process listed above.

It would be great if someone could confirm if I'm doing something incorrectly in the process.

I get it to the point where the image is highlighted by the dashed line boundary(Global Wand - Invert).

From here, I'm a bit sketchy on what the correct process is..

If I then use the Crop function, it gets rid of the original background but the desired image is now resting on the SC grey background..which transfers when I upload the image to my site.

I've experimented with leaving the last step(Cropping) out and just saving the highlighted image..but that transfers with the original white boundary

Hopefully, someone will be able to clarify.

J.

Screenshot Captor / Cutting out an image from it's background..
« on: January 11, 2015, 08:04 AM »
Hi All, so let's say I have an image, a red car, that I'm trying to remove from it's white rectangular background as I only want the car to paste onto my site..no rectangular background color.

So, I know how to do the essential first part via the Magic Wand(Global I think?), Inverting and then I believe cropping..

This seems to remove the white background leaving me with just the desired red car.

That being said, when I then Save it, I have the desired item now resting on the Screenshot Capture Grey rectangular background..

So, I go from removing the white background to now having a grey background..which doesn't look good with the white background of my website.

How can I only remove the car, save it and then paste the car just by itself onto my white website page?

Thanks so much,

Jonathan

Screenshot Captor / Thumbnails in explorer only show flower image...
« on: October 26, 2014, 11:50 AM »
I used to be able to see the the thumbnail images of what I had just made a screenshot for.

Now, on the left margin of the main window, all I see are thumbnails with an image of an orange and yellow dandelion with the file name I assigned and .png.

I explored all the preference settings and didn't see any kind of fix for this.

Please advise..

Screenshot Captor / Re: How to save an enlarged image?

xbeastie boy maybe..but alas, it's the Fab 4 for me ;-)

Tomos(almost inputted Tomas ;-)), thanks for the quick response as I stumbled upon the resize canvas option in the Edit menu.

And yes, the key is to know what size zoom you can get away with..150% seems doable for my purposes(www.thestealthytrader.com)

Thanks again..

Cheers..

Screenshot Captor / How to save an enlarged image?
« on: October 18, 2014, 12:12 PM »
So, here's something that's evaded me ever since I started using this program.

Very often, after capturing an image, I'll play with the Zoom slider on the right side of the main window.

So, say I zoom it up to 150% and I now want to save the blown up image..I've tried all the available "Save" options in the File menu but it never works as when I check the file saved to my computer, it's the original sized image and not the 150% zoomed up one that I really want.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance..

J.

makes sense...

Ah yes, that would of been my next guess  8)

Thanks again for the quick replies mouser..

All good..

Hey Mouser, so I've attached the .png file made from the jagged edged scroll that I was able to create via your timely instructions.

As you can see, the problem is it's adding back the white border when I save it from SC.

Any thoughts?

Thanks so much,

Jonathan

So, I've attached a screenshot of my Main Window with the Scroll exactly as I'd like to save it..most recent attachment.

Unfortunately, after removing the unwanted border, when trying to save it to my computer, it appears back as the first attachment..regardless of whether or not I save it with the .png format..like the latest attachment.

It's not the end of the world but I'd love to provide just the scroll w/o background to my members...

11
Hi mouser, so I was able to separate the attached scroll from it's white bordered background after doing your suggested procedure.

I was able to just get the scroll with it's jagged boundaries..the ideal scenario.

But now, when I go to save it to a file in my computer, it saves with a white frame(boundary) around it..which is what I wanted to get rid of from the beginning.

I want to save exactly what I'm presently looking at inside the Screenshot Captor main window..the scroll with the jagged boundary that after your process, no longer has a white frame/boundary..

Is there an additional step to Save my newly defined image?

Thanks so much in advance.

Jonathan

Thanks mouser, shades and everyone who contributed..

Was able to utilize "Patch text" tool make the changes..and yes, the text doesn't match exactly but it's fine for my use.

Actually, if I spent the time trying to match the font and tried some different Blend Modes perhaps it might of?

I used the Text Box to redo the text..makes sense doesn't it.

Now, if anyone would care to tell me how to capture a Scrolling Window image w/o overlaps(horizontal and vertical) I'd be mighty obliged..lol

Thanks again everyone!

Screenshot Captor / Correcting a mispelling in a captured image?
« on: April 18, 2014, 08:19 PM »
So, I captured an image and would like to use it in a presentation.

But alas, I noticed something incorrect in the text(black)

The background is a shade of grey(not 50 Shades of Grey though  8)).

I see a color cop color picker tool.

Can I use that to match the background grey and "paint" over the incorrect text and then re-do the black text correctly.

I know this can probably be done in GIMP but was curious if possible with this great tool.

Thanks so much

Thanks again..saved me a lot of time.

Btw, you wouldn't happen to have success using the "Grab Windows Object or Scrolling Window" feature?.

Seems like every time I try to use that one, the scrolling part works but I get an overlap in the middle of the captured image..just comes out very buggy.

Anyway, perhaps we'll leave that one for another time and place..

Thanks again,

Jonathan

Yup..

Hey Mouser, thanks so much for both the speedy reply and helping me to solve this mystery..lol

As I'm aware of how to use some of GIMP's functionality, I hope to learn how to use it in conjunction with SC..

Thanks again,

Jonathan

Hi, so I'm looking to utilize Screenshot Captor in a way that I ordinarily dont..that is, to crop out the uneven white boundary around an image that was included in my original capture.

As you can see in the attachment, the image is a blank Scroll(that I plan on adding text to).

I'm aware of the "cropping" options and sense that this involves either the "lasso" or one of the "Magic Wand" selections.

The Lasso one is more or less impossible for me to do as clean a crop as I'd like.

The Global Magic Wand option seems to automatically delineate the Scroll from the white region of the outer boundary(this looks to be the right choice) but when I utilize it, it deletes the Scroll part and just leaves me with it's shadow now on a white background.

Would welcome anyone's input who has done this before.....

Thanks in advance.

Any thoughts..looks like a cool little app.
