I don't recall there being a problem seeing the files in a file manager even when I was using iTunes, but I may be wrong. The problem was that when transferring with iTunes the files were given crazy names and put in folders F01-F99 or something.

Now I remember: There are some hidden folders when you view the iPod in explorer. Make explorer display hidden files/folders and there should be a folder called iPod_control (IIRC) and within it a folder named Music and voila: The crazy F01-99 folders The files are in those. As I said, the files too have been given strange names, so what you need is a mp3tagger of some sort (I recommend the free Mp3tag (google it... sorry.) that can rename files from tags, cause the tags are still OK in the files.

Yamipod oughta do it for you even if the music is transferred through iTunes. While the main Yamipod site is down, go here: http://www.snapfiles...com/get/yamipod.html

But you should give Yamipod a try. It's free and the best iPod manager I've tried.

The iPod can be used as a regular USB drive, so you can copy the music to you hard drive through a file manager. The manual should tell you how to let the iPod be accessed as a USB drive.

a free iTunes alternative is Yamipod: www.yamipod.com (down at time of writing)

I also recommend the free Rockbox firmware for iPods and other portable players. Check it out at www.rockbox.org
One advantage with rockbox is that it's much easier to organize the music on the player, since everything can be stored in proper directories and not screwed up dirs like the regular firmware does.

I agree with cranioscopical.

Not making a judgement here, as I know how annoying it can be having to insert the CD when playing games. As far as I know making No-CD cracks even for personal use is illegal, and thus shouldn't be discussed here.

TucknDar: I love the one you did. Definitelly a winner. Could you just reduce a bit the lighting in the man's arm? it makes it hard to understand that bit in the icon version.

I was thinking the same thing about user configurable icons.

If it weren't for the fact that 16x16 is so small, nudones key with the running man on it (instead of 'f') would be my suggestion. Probably'd be too hard to see though.

Speaking of key with the running man, I should get the painting kit out and paint the guy on my 'Pause' key...

I did another one.

I remember someone in the forum complaining that the FARR-icon looked too much like a bluetooth icon, so I changed colour to... purple. Maybe that'll stand out?

I like hamradios suggestion too, btw, but I really like that funny looking running guy

Late reply, but great interview!

Have to say I agree with Forster about sticking to one time management method instead of trying them all for short periods, which is why I've stayed away from the GOE, although I've started incorporating Forsters ideas into my life.

yes, it is a bit far fetched, I suppose. But I definitely don't have the problem now. I've tried deleting the rule, which still doesn't give me problems until I log off and on again. Then the problem is back.


The problem is gone, which is the most important thing to me, but I could try to dig a little deeper and see if I can find anything more out. not tonight, though

so basically litestep.exe was using high cpu resources, and process tamer was taming it, which was having a negative effect on its performance.

ps. this would be a good reason to turn on the balloon messages for when programs are being tamed, it would have given you a visual clue that the taming of litestep was the cause of the problem.

That's the strange part, cause Litestep doesn't use high CPU resources, and thus wasn't being tamed. I have balloon messages turned on, but didn't get any notification about litestep.exe. The log obviously says nothing about litestep, either.

I'm beginning to think that there's something else that's fishy, although Process Tamer and LiteStep are certainly involved... I've got no idea what else could do this, but the next step that might help would be to unload/load specific LS-modules 

You may recall that I had a bit of a problem with LaunchBar Commander, docking and LiteStep? That was with an experimental LS-build with docking features (the latest official release doesn't support it.), but LBC didn't dock properly and didn't "release" the docked area even when minimized (or closed? I don't remember). Other dockable apps (Miranda, for instance) docked properly. I'm getting to the point...

... which is that I'm thinking that maybe some of your apps have problems with alternative shells in general or LiteStep specifically? I'm not jumping to conclusions, as this may just as well be something wrong with LS or with my system, but from my no-coder's point of view it could look like some of your code might rely on explorer being the shell OR Litestep NOT being the shell ? Could any other alt-shell users please reply. What do you think?
