I got it. It can now go all the way to 9999 seconds! Thank you again. :)

ProcessTamer / Feature Request: Extend "Min. Change Interval" field?
« Last post by Bob G on March 02, 2009, 06:51 PM »
I really like Process Tamer.  It has solved several issues I was having with greedy processes (e.g., Kaspersky/avg.exe, MS Update/svchost.exe, and BlackBerry/DesktopMgr.exe).

This is a very minor issue, but sometimes I wish that it wouldn't regulate the same process up and down so often.  The current version (2.09.01) allows settings from 1 to 99 seconds.

Would you consider expanding the field to 3 digits, so I can tell Process Tamer to wait up to 999 seconds before changing the priority of a given process again?

If not, I suppose I could just turn off the balloon notifiers.

Thanks,

Bob G.

By the way, I also have the issue with svchost.exe monopolizing my CPU while it checks for  Microsoft updates at start up.

However, Process Tamer has been successfully changing the priority of svchost.exe on both of my computers.  I am running PT v2.09.01.

Thank you for Process Tamer!  As I type, Kaspersky is under control, my computer is responsive, and I am a happy camper.

I don't know if you ever figured out the issue with Kaspersky Anti Virus, but I had the same problem with Kaspersky Internet Security 2009.  Process Tamer would not change the priority of avp.exe when it was monopolizing my CPU.

Then I went into KIS Settings>Options and un-checked "Enable Self Defense."  Now Process Tamer is able to change the priority of avp.exe as necessary.
