Would a portable launcher that uses relative directories work for you? I use PStart: pegtop.net/pstart It launches directories, programs, files...Something with relative paths would work but I only see the U3 and installable versions of PStart on their website, is there any standard portable version I can throw in Dropbox?-doctorfrog (July 11, 2011, 02:25 AM)
Being able to choose between either would be great, but if only one then I think last modified would be best. Thanks so much if you're planning to code this up!Something that I could specify to archive files in a directory 30 days after they were last created/modified would be great.-Hyphen (May 04, 2011, 05:21 AM)
Which datestamp would you like me to use? The created or the last modified?-skwire (May 08, 2011, 02:18 PM)
I assume the podcasts are MP3 or some other lossy (compressed) format. If so, you do realise that you're not going to save hardly any space at all by compressing those files, right?Yeah, that really wasn't the best singular example. Another though: http://screensnapr.com/v/UcBk8X.png (folder comprised entirely of scraped .txt files)-skwire (May 05, 2011, 05:23 PM)
I use the PortableApps.com launcher (in my Dropbox directory), then manually pin a shortcut to the start menu on each PC.Still don't see how that'd work as any programs I add would be added by the absolute path of the file within the Dropbox directory. It'd be helpful if there was some environment variable in Windows specifically for your Dropbox.
If you're using portable applications that aren't available from PortableApps.com, you could also put them in the PortableApps.com "Documents" directory and use the launcher's button to quickly access that directory.-Deozaan (March 27, 2011, 04:57 PM)
It took a while, but I've found the thread I mentioned, and it has a solution as wellLooked, but it seems like most download links there have been removed?-Ath (March 04, 2011, 03:13 PM)
There's a Microsoft KB article about IPsec installation and usage. That's able to block/unblock, but I haven't read enough of the details to see if it can also properly list whether the ports are actually transferring data.Yeah, I looked into that just recently and it sort of touched on what I wanted but you can't make any rulesets or anything.-Ath (March 04, 2011, 09:59 AM)
Get VirtualBox on PortableApps.com (somehow), then buy a 64GB USB drive and use it for a portable VM with everything you want installed on it!Is this a legit idea? That sounds pretty awesome, does VBox portable run smoothly?-Deozaan (February 17, 2011, 03:32 PM)
I just use a roboform safenote for each serial I have. I see no reason to use a specific program for something like this unless very specific needs are demonstrated.Well, for example, you're suggesting to use RoboForm. I don't use RoboForm, it isn't free, and the primary function of RoboForm is password storage. It's bulky and more than what is needed.-Josh (February 25, 2011, 03:40 AM)
