Living Room / Any school psychologists out there?
« on: January 22, 2017, 01:10 PM »
Just curious. I've put together some coolish Autohotkey tools.   Thought about sharing for NANY, but they are so specific to my job, that I doubt they'd be useful for anyone else.

General Software Discussion / VBA for MS Office Web apps?
« on: January 22, 2017, 01:07 PM »
Is anyone here familiar with scripting/automating Office 365 (i.e. the online versions)?   I'd like to automate the creation of Outlook calendar items.  With the installed version of Office, you can actually do it with Command Line options such as C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office16\OUTLOOK.EXE /c ipm.appointment then navigate the GUI via Outlook's built in hotkeys.  I Googled, and it does appear that there is an "Object Model" for the Office Web apps...  So presumably this is possible.

Are the .APK files available here on DC?  Us Kindle users are unable to use Google Play.

Screenshot Captor / Re: "Hands Holding" mask/frame combo...
« on: January 09, 2017, 05:02 PM »
Thanks Dude.    Also, I just noticed that I'm getting duplicates of the thumbs appearing in the preview pane in SSC.  (clicking 'Rescan Dirs' does not help.)
Edit: Nope.  Disregard the note about duplicates.  It's because I was seeing the contents of "MyFrames/" and its subfolder...  Sorry.

Hey Mouser, should these home-made mask and/or frames still work?  It's been several years since I've used the feature, but I just now tried it in v4.16.1, and no love.

I tried
name.png
name.png.mask

and I tried
name.png
name.png.maskpng

Neither works.  The built-in ones are fine--just the customs in MyFrames/ don't work.
Note also that the SSC help docs still indicate to use "name.png.mask."

Edit:  Also tried name.png.mask.png and tried putting everything in a subfolder.

Activation/License/Language Help / Re: license key
« on: December 23, 2016, 09:56 AM »
Are you referring to Mouser's Universal Key?  It only works with Mouser's software.  (Clipboard Help+Spell, FARR, Screenshot Captor, etc.)  WinRar is another application from another company.

Edit:  You can get the licence by doing a donation.  See here https://www.donation...om/Donate/index.html  Remember though, it's only for the apps here https://www.donation...re/Mouser/index.html not any app from any website.

You can find lots of things at Library Genesis.  http://gen.lib.rus.ec/

Similar to Tomos' idea--or maybe not so similar...   An app that will take a folder full of wallpaper images that I downloaded from reddit and other location, and do a reverse image search, then rename the image with the most-likely description.   Sometimes I'm proactive enough to actually name the image as I save it to my computer, but often the names are like "qwssdfde.jpg."  Presumably this would require an algorhythm to look at the different possible names and "guess" the best one...

Half way though.... It's pretty good!

.. The oddest thing is i could swear that there used to be font that worked this way and i found a few other people who agreed.  But it was so long ago - maybe Windows 95  :(  that no one is sure it ever existed...

Relevant quote I found here: http://answers.micro...-39a97d384b03?auth=1

"Short of owning an Amiga computer (or WinUAE) which supported multi-colored fonts back in the 80's... you'll need to wait for developers to start supporting the new format that was released with Win 8.1."

137
For my purposes, I need an actual font that other Windows applications can recognize.  If all you want is a word banner, then yea, a vector-based photoeditor is probably the way to go.
Paint.net is an often-used one http://paint.net.amihotornot.com.au/
I use DrawPlus quite a bit.  There is a free version of it: http://www.serif.com...hic-design-software/
(Here are some icons I made with DrawPlus, and an app called RealWorld Icon Editor https://www.xyplorer....php?f=3&t=11635 )

Probably the most powerful freebie is the GIMP http://www.gimp.org/ It's more like Photoshop then a vector editor though....

Other fun things to check out:
TileMage allows you to make individual letters in bulk, then "chop up" the exported picture.  http://www.tilemage.50webs.com/

I use this http://patorjk.com/text-color-fader/ for colorizing my Outlook email signatures.

EDIT:  Also: http://www.picturetopeople.org/ for making banners!!!

138
Cool stuff!   Thanks for the fonts site.  Sadly the "SVG & colors in OpenType fonts" looks like it only applies to FireFox.  Too bad because that's exactly what I need (except for Windows).

139
I also would love it if this were possible.  I have BGInfo https://technet.micr...nternals/bginfo.aspx scripted to put some stuff on my desktop wallpaper at start up.  When the picture underneath is the same color as the text though, it's unreadable.

Finished Programs / Re: IDEA: Drag and drop folder icon replacer

Cool idea!  I guess you could also make an option where the ico file would also be copied to the folder, thus making it a "portable" folder.

Just got done reading the uncut version of The Stand (Stephen King).  That's a whole lotta' book--especially for a slow reader like me.

How can I get to the settings? I have Win 10.
I haven't tried Win 10. But on Win 7, you right-click the clock, then choose "T-Clock Properties."

http://capture2text.sourceforge.net/ is a pretty cool freeware tool.

There's a tool called iSilo. (no relation to Apple)  http://isilo.com/ I first started using it back in my Palm Pilot days.  I never use it anymore, simply because I'm always near wifi, so I just view the live sites rather than downloading them.  There's an Android version that works on my Kindle Fire HD 7.  It's expensive though...  $30 US as I recall.  And the formatting is not all that great.  Still though... It works.  There's a free component called iSiloX that parses the pages/site.  Then you send it to your device and read it with iSilo.  As I recall, iSilo can be used in "free mode."  Links are disabled in free mode, but at least you can see how the formatting is.  Tips:  There's a feature on iSiloX to limit parsing to only certain URLs.  It allows wildcards.  For example: https://www.donationcoder.com/*  Use this and only use a link-depth of one, otherwise you'll end up downloading gigs of data.

Re PowerPaste:  Check out the "stack" operations of our local Clipboard Help + Spell.
========
From the help file:
CHS now has a stack system that will let you easily copy multiple clips into a stack (queue), and then paste them back out individually (or as a block) in a First-In-First-Out (FIFO) order.
This can be very useful when you have to copy a series of items from one location to another.
How it works:
The CHS stack works by keeping track of a "stack marker" that you can assign at any time, either BEFORE you start copying a collection of new clips, or afterwards.
At any time you can "pop" the oldest item in the stack and advance the marker, or paste the entire contents of the stack in one operation.
New clips are automatically added to the stack -- you don't have to do anything special to add them -- the only thing you have to do is set the starting position of the stack marker.
To set (or clear) the starting stack marker position BEFORE you copy any clips, use the custom hotkey (see hotkey options) or bring up the quick paste or tray menu and choose to set the starting stack marker.
To set the starting stack marker position AFTER you have copied some clips, bring up the quick paste menu and hold shift while clicking on a specific clip, OR bring up the main clip grid and right click on an item to show the stack submenu, and then mark the clip as the start of the stack.
Then you can perform stack operations (pop or paste as block) using the hotkeys or the quick paste stack submenu.
In addition to pasting as a solid text block, you can paste items with simulated TAB keypresses between then, which is useful for form filling.

+1 for this feature request idea.  I also hope to make a custom Autohotkey tool for this,  but I'm an ahk newbie, so I haven't gotten brave enough to work on it yet...  My recommendation for implementing this would be to have an .ini file someplace with a list of words to leave alone, such as

[LeaveLower]
key=with
key=the
key=a
key=in

of course CHS would have to also consider whether these were at the beginning of a sentence!  Another feature that I really need, is a list of ALLCAP words that should always be all caps.  There are lots of acronyms were I work.   For example

[LeaveUpper]
key=CIA
key=MASH

Those are examples...  I don't really write for the CIA!
 :P

Thanks all, for the replies.
In all fairness to Tux, I do have to point out that I baited him a bit.   :P  No offense taken, really.

There's some paradox with writing my own HTML.  I my well go down that path, but as I'm learning, won't I be producing some junky code?  And if my whole thing is to use it on my site...  Well you get the idea.
[to be continued]

148
Hey not cool.  You made me LOL in a staff meeting and everyone now suspects that I'm off-task...

EDIT:   What about    http://kompozer.net ?

149
That's because you'll need to make it readable for the web server. But, still, please don't. It's horrible.
Too late..
http://www.nonags.or...21/STEVEwordPage.htm
Muah ha ha ha ...

Yea, still I'll look for a "real" html generator..

150
It actually occurred to me that Word can save files as HTML...
Please don't.
Apparently you're right...  I uploaded all the parts of the Word-generated one, but it won't open..  "Access denied."
