Appreciate when posters like you put expiration dates in the subject field.

Skwire Empire / Re: Release: sWeather (tray-based weather app)
« on: October 12, 2021, 11:55 AM »
Installed Tray Weather and received an API key free of charge.  Not as user-friendly as sWeather was and don't quite understand why the key was necessary but the program offers a lot of data and can't beat the price.

70% discount on new licenses of Backup4all Professional 8 – ONLY $14.99 per license!

The discount is valid until December 2nd, 2020. All you have to do is click
this link to add the discounted license to your cart:
https://www.backup4a...p;coupon=NBLACKB2042

Alternatively you can use the coupon code NBLACKB2042 in the cart if you want to buy other
products (like Backup4all Lite, Standard, Portable or Backup4all Monitor).

Reliable backup software is crucial.  I did a search for "backup software reviews" but not once was this mentioned as being top-tier.  Maybe those who've used it for some time can chime in.

12-2 UPDATE: Bought a Backup4all Pro license and am pleased with the program's performance.  It offers all of the file backup bells and whistles including differential, and the support has been good.  Even though they're apparently in Romania, the tech support staff has a good command of English and have promptly responded to my inquiries. Unfortunately, it can neither image nor ghost (like Acronis) but I've Macrium Reflect Free for that.

I agree with you but have no experience with this site.  I upgraded Win 7 Pro 64-bit to Win 10 Pro 64-bit via MediaCreationTool1909.  Took five hours but it worked and was free. Laptop isn't as stable as before but at least it's secured.

I'm searching for a total backup solution (data and image).  Acronis is a no-go for various reasons. Have been using SyncBackFree with good results as a substitute for other programs' native backup function (since only data is involved).  Considered SyncBackSE as a solution so shot an email to SyncBack support and received the following response:  Yes, SyncBack is a backup utility designed to backup files-based data that are created by the user (that is, files created by you). Backing-up system files, Program Files folder, entire system drive backup, cloning or imaging drives are not supported, nor will it be supported in the future.

Since it backs up only data, it's not a total backup solution.  Guess I'll stick with a combination of EaseUS Todo Backup Free 12.0 and Macrium Reflect for now.

Appreciate your heads-up anyway.

Can't recall the last time this newsletter was published.  Maybe alerts were sent to spam.

Here's another one called BuildFire that lets you create your own app from scratch.  Site states build for free for only 30 days, though.

I'm always leery of lifetime deals.  Who knows how long they'll be in business or get bought-out and change the terms of existing user contracts.

Columns with cliches like, "At the end of the day" aren't credible.

Living Room / Re: Android shortcuts
« on: April 10, 2019, 12:18 PM »
Shortcut Creator (https://play.google....xtern.shortcuthelper) enabled me to create shortcuts to Notification Access, Bluetooth, and Accessibility settings with ease. Allowed external gallery icon although not all galleries found. Small Shortcut Creator icon automatically created in the right bottom corner of any shortcut icon in Oreo (8.1) is annoying. Too bad it can't be eliminated. Still very handy overall and the most versatile shortcut creation app I've found. Try it.

Rather enjoyed the drama of this thread.  Felt pity for the OP as I've also made the mistake of installing unwanted software in a wrapper due to haste in installation.

SyncBackPro and SyncBackSE 25% off through Monday, Nov 26: https://www.2brights...m/store/cybermonday/

I've used SyncBackPro for a long time and like it a lot, but I think other backup utilities might be easier to use (and less flexible maybe).

I use SyncBackFree to backup data in programs whose own backup utilities either aren't good enough or no longer function. Just hope they don't discontinue it.  Their other offerings always seemed overpriced.  Appreciate the heads-up anyway, though.

Can confirm... worked for me too.  I didn't even install the portable- just extracted it and had to move a few folders.
Extracted as you wrote rather than installed, is what I meant. What folders did you move?

Installed the freeware-portable version on a thumb drive, inserted the SharewareOnSale exclusive license key and it appears anyway to be a fully-licensed version with no limitations.  Apr 14, 2017 review scared me enough to not install on my hard drive.  Seems like the best of both worlds.

General Software Discussion / Re: Download manager

jdownloader aint a must-have, but its best app of that kind. It supports so many great features that you elsewhere miss.
Installation is a bit strange, but when done and it runs you will start to love it as i do.

Thanks for the suggestion.  Installed and found it consumed 208 MB disk space which seems rather large. Am trying Free Download Manager 3.9.7.1638 Lite mainly because of its smaller footprint.

Just received this today (6/12) and it says for the next five days (6/17?), the 51% off sale is back on.

Sumo Pro 5.6.5 available here, today only from Giveaway of the day.  Codes also enable portable version.

21
Mailwasher Pro discount has been upped to 51% through May 2018.
Have never seen a larger discount.  From the price list, buying a 3-year license rather than a lifetime makes no sense.

There really is no good alternative to this program that I've found anyway.  Problem is, it's not exactly cheap. Have used Poptray and then PoptrayU for a while now but the latter has bugs and isn't supported (probably because it's free).  Mailwasher Pro was on Giveawayoftheday a couple of times but not lately.

Found Deals and Discounts / WinX DVD Ripper V8.8.0 Easter giveaway

Article here.

2018 Easter super offer here.

DVDs are on the way out but still nice to update installed ripping software.

Conspiracy theorist point taken since according to this article, the U.S. government's warning is more about politicking and protectionism than with communications security.  Hasn't stopped me at least from buying a Motorola phone.  All the same, I'm still also avoiding any Kaspersky products.  Want to avoid all of the "I told you so's."

Didn't mean to hijack your thread.
