I have always liked ContextEdit.  It was a free giveaway from PC Magazine a long time ago, but now it's $7.97: http://www.pcmag.com...2/0,2817,3229,00.asp

It requires a bit of knowledge about how context menus are supposed to work, file associations and things like that.  You can do much the same thing in Windows' "Folder Options" under the "Filetypes" tab.

See this thread for other software, and a link to the older free version of ContextEdit:

I don't know if it works on Windows 7.  Maybe give it a try?

:-* I have. I am using that program for years. And use yesterday to see a tart with the hard disk spaces. Happen a very strange thing. I have the system disk with 285 GB and appear with only 164 MB free, but filemenu tools give me 97.6 GB free. But in my pc windows the hard disk appear deeply red.
I was using the splendid program DocFetcher in those moments. The indexes are very small so have no explanation. I reinitiate the system and after the while the red status dissapear.

The problem with this type of problems is that not "automatic". You have to think and that make me nervous because require knowledge to eliminate some entries.
With all the danger i am now with nirsoft ShellExeView and ShellMenuView and shellOpenwith
But lacks a measure for dummies.
 :P

Note : I thingk was probably a virus, because don't seems possible from DocFetcher, so I have no consult this point in the DocFetcher forum. But it's so strange.

They have some nice free tools.  The Navigation Pane Customizer for Windows Seven is totally intuitive. I feel like I can change the settings on a whim because I won't get stuck when trying to change them back. :)

Fast Explorer is another one that I've used, though as with the other choices the learning curve is perhaps a little steep.

Downside is that it appears to be out of development (developers website is gone!) though it's been working OK for me (W7-32)

At the present time is kaputt. In some places is not indicated for windows 7. But it's a good news is can be used under windows 7.
