If you get an error from running a posh script, just read the given message to solved that issue.
If you ask for help, give details what and how you do things and which error you get, best, copy there & paste here.
I just found my crystal bowl broken, sorry  tongue

But no need for PSv4, the above script even works in PSv2 and v3

One can test in launching PS as: powershell -version 2.0

And you can force a script to run a specific PS version

(Both above mentioned ways if required PS and .NET version is installed)

Formatted for C++ with the GeSHI Syntax Highlighter [copy or print]
  1. #Requires -version 2.0
  2. $host.version
  3. $myProcess = "TOTALCMD"
  4. $ProcessData = get-process $myProcess -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
  5. if ($ProcessData -ne $null)
  6. {
  7. $m = ps $myProcess | measure PM -Sum ; ("$myProcess Physical Memory {0:N2}MB " -f ($m.sum / 1mb))
  8. $m = ps $myProcess | measure WS -Sum ; ("$myProcess Working Set {0:N0}MB " -f ($m.sum / 1mb))
  9. }
  10. read-host Done! Press Enter to exit...

But when I run the script it just comes back to the prompt.  No busy cursor, no output no nothing.

Works for me (execution and a kind of result).

Just copy the whole code into a PoSh console and press enter twice.

Or, if the code is in a *.ps1 text file, add a PoSh-kind of PAUSE statement, one way is this:
Formatted for C++ with the GeSHI Syntax Highlighter [copy or print]
  1. $myProcess = "TOTALCMD"
  2. $ProcessData = get-process $myProcess -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
  3. if ($ProcessData -ne $null)
  4. {
  5. $m = ps $myProcess | measure PM -Sum ; ("$myProcess Physical Memory {0:N2}MB " -f ($m.sum / 1mb))
  6. $m = ps $myProcess | measure WS -Sum ; ("$myProcess Working Set {0:N0}MB " -f ($m.sum / 1mb))
  7. }
  8. read-host Done! Press Enter to exit...

Quote from: Result
TOTALCMD Physical Memory 16,13MB
TOTALCMD Working Set 30MB
Done! Press Enter to exit...:

Or is it smtg other?
7  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: Recommend image file renamer/renumberer for slide shows, please? on: June 08, 2015, 01:39:03 AM
FSViewer can do that.

http://www.faststone.org/FSViewerDownload.htm

- launch FSViewer.exe
- open your folder
- drag&drop
- select all and press F2
- rename e.g. as '### - *'
(three digit number - origin name.ext)

8  Other Software / Found Deals and Discounts / Re: PowerISO 6.0 (100% Discount) - CD/DVD image file processing tool on: June 03, 2015, 01:57:04 AM
The one from Windows Deal is fine.
For me too. And the v6.2 download from the homepage also.
I always unpack such archives with 'UniExtract', and if that is not possible, I only install new things in a virtual machine and then copy the files.
That way I never see/get such 'PUPs'....

If PowerISO is too much trouble, then considerIsoBuster Pro - Mini-Review
What have a 'CD-data recovery tool' to do with a CD-image creating/modifying tool?
Whould be 'IsoBuster Pro' a replacement for tools like PowerISO, WinISO or UltraISO?
At least in terms as:
*) Create ISO file from hard disk files or CD/DVD-ROM.
*) Edit an existing ISO file directly.
*) Make bootable ISO file,

10  DonationCoder.com Software / Post New Requests Here / Re: IDEA: Utility to handle files/folders with illegal characters on: May 12, 2015, 12:24:14 AM
Or use a Linux Live that has NTFS support.
Perhaps try mount -o check=r

Quote
check=value
Three different levels of pickyness can be chosen:

r[elaxed]
Upper and lower case are accepted and equivalent, long name
parts are truncated (e.g. verylongname.foobar becomes very-
long.foo), leading and embedded spaces are accepted in each
name part (name and extension).

n[ormal]
Like "relaxed", but many special characters (*, ?, <, spaces,
etc.) are rejected. This is the default.

s[trict]
Like "normal", but names may not contain long parts and special
characters that are sometimes used on Linux, but are not
accepted by MS-DOS are rejected. (+, =, spaces, etc.)

The above is a quote out of the `mount` man page; I'm not familiar with CIFS but is it possible
 the default option setting for this mount option is causing the problem?
Maybe mounting with check=relaxed option would get around it.

Sasha

EDIT - PS, this option is for FAT, by the way; I forgot to mention

15  DonationCoder.com Software / Easy Screencast Recorder / ESR: Do NOT stay on top. on: April 15, 2015, 07:53:22 AM
Hi Mouser,

I find it irritating that the main dialog always stays on top while not recording. (and I do other things, before next recording)

I think I would like a new option like

Options > Tweaks > [_] Main dialog should stay on top.

Please consider, if you have some time for that very non-important wish.

thx

Greetings Mouser,

The Options > General > Hotkeys box

is too small for German

"STRG + UMSCHALT + F9"

I only see
"STRG + UMSCHALT + |"

Would you please adjust the width a little  bit? Thank you.

What paulina didn't had done, maybe didn't could, did Curt: set a link to that tool so g00gle will increase the reputation of that site.

I see that advertisement for that tool all over the inet. Seems to be a bad tool, if it needs that guerilla marketing by pseudo user comments.

21  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: from excel to a folder structure on: March 19, 2015, 07:02:09 AM
In the help.

Launch Excel > choose > "Developer > Visual Basic" > Press F1 > Choose "Visual Basic for Applications Language Reference"

Also search there for "Filesystem".

- - -

But I would rather use G00gle to find some help in special Excel/Script forum.
"excel vba get cell value"
"excel vba create folder"

Examples:

- in Excel Visual Basic, insert a Module

- in Module1 insert:
Sub Macro1()
    myVariable = Range("A1").Value
    MsgBox myVariable
End Sub

- in excel, write something in cell A1 and execute this macro.

- next add FSO function:
- edit Macro1() to:
Sub Macro1()
    myVariable = Range("A1").Value
    MsgBox myVariable

    Set fso = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
    fso.CreateFolder "C:\Temp\" + myVariable
    MsgBox "Folder created: C:\Temp\" + myVariable
End Sub

- in excel, write something in cell A1 and execute this macro to create that folder.

Of course you have to add many more code, also for error handling, e.g. if path is valid, or if folder not already exist.

Sub Macro1()
    myVariable = Range("A1").Value
    MsgBox myVariable
    myFolder = "C:\Temp\" + myVariable
    Set fso = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
    If (fso.folderExists(myFolder)) Then
        MsgBox "Folder already exist: " + myFolder
    Else
        fso.CreateFolder myFolder
        MsgBox "Folder created: " + myFolder
    End If
End Sub

- - -

The other way around would be to use Visual Basic Script or PowerShell
to access the Excel Object, get the cell value, and invoke FSO to create the folder.
22  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: Batch find/replace multiple strings in a single text file on: March 19, 2015, 02:21:42 AM
Such multiple replacements can be done also on console or via a script
by utilizing PowerShell, which is already there on each Win7/Win8 PC.

Examples:

$Origin = Get-Content .\test.txt

$LineWrap = $Origin -replace "(.{72}\b )", "`$1`r`n"

$Replacement = $LineWrap -replace "code\b", "program"

Set-Content .\test-new.txt -value $Replacement

23  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: from excel to a folder structure on: March 18, 2015, 06:54:31 AM
Such can be done with Office VBA, if you happen to code in Visual Basic (Script)....

There are Excel commands in VBA to iterate over cells,
and there are "standard" VBA/VBS commands to create folders and files via FSO (FileSystem Object)
