I need a tool to compare list of strings (numbers and chars).

Wanted features:
- Standalone, portable EXE plus INI for Win7 and newer
- Whole line comparing, do not compare inside string (123X and 133X are completely different)
- Working with lists with ~150.000 entries,  maybe 10 to 15 sign long each entry
- Show amount of entries in status bar for A and B column, maybe for Result too?
- Result column features: in A only / in B only / in both A and B (Doubles) / in A or B unique (in A only + in B only = together)
- Sort the result column
- Filter the result column
- Export the result column (copy to clip, or export to current working dir,.... maybe the folder from List A)
- Command line option: provide both list as path (NumbComp.exe C:\Temp\ListA.txt C:\Temp\ListB.txt)
- Drag&Drop lists to the GUI


- Maybe possibility to remove duplicated entries (without sorting) from  List A and from List B
- Maybe export unique entries from both list together (merged A+B+Both, remove duplicates)
- Maybe automated command line option to load lists, compare and export as wanted (e.g. A only, -or- That only in both)
(NumbComp.exe C:\Temp\ListA.txt C:\Temp\ListB.txt /O __Result_%timestamp% /F InBothOnly)
- Maybe option to compare case-sensitive (not need by me right now; 123x and 123X are same)
- Maybe in-line comparing (not need by me right now; x456 and X456 would be different)
- Maybe allow to work with one single file only, for to sort or to remove duplicates


I have done that in VBS and PoSh, but want a GUI,
and I have done that in Excel (2016/32-bit), but that will freeze my PC (16G RAM) for some minutes...
And I would had to take care to copy the formula down the whole lines till the end.
I also have tried a  few text comparing tools, but non have satisfied me.

- option to pause a screen capture, and continue after a while.  Could be an button on the ESR window.

- option to not display the taskbar icon, the tray icon is enough (for me).

Living Room / Online Bookmarks with Browser-Plugin/Bookmarklet - What's the best provider?

Hi, I need a recommendation from you. I could need a site where I can store my bookmarks.

If I am at work and find interesting links, which I do not want to follow at work, I usually open Google Keep to make a note.

But I would like a more straight forward method, some Browser Plugin or Bookmarklet for easy select-click-store working ethos.


Any ideas?   TIA!

I find it irritating that the main dialog always stays on top while not recording. (and I do other things, before next recording)


I think I would like a new option like

Options > Tweaks > [_] Main dialog should stay on top.


Please consider, if you have some time for that very non-important wish.

Sorry, me again.

While testing, I saw that MiniCap didn't write meta data into the file.

So I want to ask if that would be an improvement idea?
I think I am mostly interested in
- DateTaken time stamp
- the title line of the captured app.
- the app image name
- an comment.
For the middle two there may be no equivalent exif field, but we could abuse one?


If this is to much for you, I think we can do that by utilizing Phil Harveys' ExifTool (or such) inside an batch

Screenshot Captor / MiniCap: set focus back / bigger counter / get image name

Hi mouser!

While working with MiniCap I had this questions/suggestions/ideas
which I will write here to you, since I found no real solution and maybe you want to improve the behaviour:


1 - get my focus back:

Every time MiniCap takes a shot, it put the focus to the window to capture.
(and I had to click again into my working window, which is different from the window to capture)

Is there a possibility to put the focus back to the last active window?
(so I am interrupted for a second only

I know MiniCap doesn't know anything about that last window, and I don't know if this is possible to code anyhow, but I have to ask, perhaps there is a solution.



2 - bigger counter than 999?:

$uniquenum$ adds a counter with three digits.

What will happen if I capture more than that amount?
I guess it will continue with 1000,... but the padding is not accurate any more.

Would it makes sense to add another parameter like "-uniquenumsize 5" or an "MiniCap.ini" switch "uniquenum_size=5" ?



3 - get me the image handle/id/name for "-capturehwnd", "-capturepid", "-captureappbyname":

There are apps where it is not that easy to tell which is the real image name,
because the product name could be different, and sometimes there are not useful details visible in e.g. the TaskManager.

I can help myself, but I missed a info tool to tell me the name of the executable of the window I want to capture.

Maybe a feature idea?
I can imagine such little cross-hair buttons on the MiniCap window, to drag&drop onto the window in question to show the wanted details...

Hi, I am searching for a tool to encrypt text.

I have found many funny and wired progs, some sitting in the tray and watching clipboard or waiting for a hotkey pressed.


But I have not found what I really looking for (maybe someone still needs an idea for NANY2014?):

- portable app, no dependencies, no registry mess, just launch - use - close
- small executable (assembler? 20kB is enough, easy to share)
- notepad like interface/GUI
- no funny options, no load or save (well, maybe nifty), just encrypt and decrypt
- using standard formats to encrypt in this order:
1.) ROT18 or ROT47
2.) AES crypter 256
3.) base64
- do vice versa to decrypt

Step 2 should ask for pass phrase.

My usage:
- write or paste plain text (ASCII or Unicode)
- click on [Encrypt] and enter password /prase
- select all and copy to clipboard

And vice versa:
- paste encrypted text
- click at [Decrypt] and enter password /prase


- - -

I think, the main trick is the base64 encoding, with that we are able to exchange the text via clipboard and email.
And the automatically use of three steps to obscure the data.

We can already use EDXOR (http://members.ozema...tv/freezip/freeware/)  or an text editor with a
few scripts to do that, or utilizing online tools, but I want a simple, no hassle tool for the mothers of us to use

Note:
I don't want to encrypt files itself or save encrypted text to file. I just want to encrypt text and then copy it. (and vice versa)

More ideas:

Maybe "select all and copy to clipboard" could be implemented as an button too?

An extra feature would be a command line option:

Multiple Selection Editing

The new version allows you to select multiple locations within a
document. To make multiple selections, after making one selection, make
another selection with the mouse while pressing the CTRL key.
Alternatively, you can press the F8 key, move the cursor to extend the
selection, press the F8 key again to finish the selection, move the
cursor again to go to the next selection position, and repeat this
procedure until you make all selections. Moreover, the Add Next
Occurrence command (CTRL+R) will find the same text as the word at the
cursor. The Add Next Next Occurrence command will skip the next
occurrence, but add the occurrence after the next one. The Select All
Occurrences command (CTRL+SHIFT+A) will select all the occurrences.

After you make multiple selections, you can type new text to replace all
the selections at once. Pressing the BACKSPACE key removes the last
character in each selection. Moreover, you can use many conversion
commands against the selections.

The Find All button was added to the Find dialog box, which allows you to select all the occurrences.

Along with multiple selection editing, vertical selection editing has
been enhanced. For instance, pressing BACKSPACE with the zero-width
vertical selection now removes the last character in each line. This
allows you to remove the end portions of text in multiple lines more
easily than ever!

Moreover, the Switch Starting Point and Ending Point command (SHIFT+F8)
was added. Before the new version, you could move the ending point by
pressing arrow keys while pressing the SHIFT key, but couldn't move the
starting point. Now with the new version, you can move the cursor to the
selection starting point by pressing SHIFT+F8, and then adjust the
selection starting point.

More Support for Very Large Files

EmEditor can now open a file containing a very long line (longer than
4GB). When EmEditor loads a file containing a very long line, it will
split the long line into several lines, but it will combine them when
saving the file.

Pasting very large text via the Clipboard became more stable by
dynamically creating a temporary file. The various Sort commands and the
Delete Duplicate Lines command were also optimized for large files, and
there is no longer a limitation of size to run these commands.

The new version also allows you to combine or split very large files
easily. The new Split Current Document to Several Files command allows
you to split the current document into several files either every
user-specified number of lines, or before every bookmarked line. It also
allows you to specify a header and/or footer to each separated file. The
new Combine Documents to a File command allows you to combine multiple
documents into one file.

Multiple File Encoding Conversions

The new version allows you to convert encodings of many files at the
same time. To do this, first open all files that you want to convert
with EmEditor, either by pressing CTRL+O to open the Open dialog and
selecting multiple files, or by specifying "emeditor.exe *.*", for
example, in the Command Prompt window. Then selecting Save All with
Encoding on the File menu will allow you to save all documents with a
specified encoding.

The new Quick Launch command allows you to open a dialog box where you
can type a partial keyword to search all the commands. A list box is
quickly filled with searched commands, and then you can select which

-   Find in Files dialog box now shows all associated file extensions of the current configuration in the File Types text box when Current File Type is selected from the > menu.
-   High-DPI settings supported.
-   The new version allows you to select text by mouse outside of the text area specified by the Narrowing command.
-   The installer now allows you to add the Context Menu to Windows Explorer, and to have EmEditor check the updates.

Skwire Empire / Trout: show panel with lyrics from local text file

Hi Skwire, maybe you will enjoy thinking about implementing this feature.


Let say i have a file
Black Sabbath - Paranoid.mp3
and a text file
Black Sabbath - Paranoid.LYR
with lyrics or something else.

How about a optional edit control to display that file content?


Same for text file
Black Sabbath - Paranoid.ALB
with information about the track list if this MP3 contains the full album.

If base name change, e.g. to 'Black Sabbath - Sabotage',
Trout would update the shown content IF a LYR or ALB file exists.
If not, those panels would show something like  'No corresponding file found.


EDIT: to make it easier to implement, understand and to handle those text files,
I change my mind to simple look for one file with TXT extension and the base name of the MP3.
So Black Sabbath - Paranoid.TXT nearby Black Sabbath - Paranoid.MP3
will contain all needed information and you would have to add only one additional panel.



Here is a mock up about what I have in mind with just notepad instead a real panel to make myself clear:

i like to suggest a new feature for CHS:

Execute a file or application with default program or launch a application with an parameter.


E.g. i paste this strings to the clipboard or edit an already captured item:

For that i like the options to execute that entries like:
1) Hold Ctrl and click on an item (in Pop-up and list view) to launch it
2) have a item in Additional Actions menu: "Run it"
3) Have a special favorite folder where every item is executed on left click as default


I know and use special launcher tools, but i have seen i launch anyway only a few files and apps, so no real need to have a another tool running just for that.

@David: All minor updates within the same major version are free, there is normally 2-3 years betwen major
updates (so e.g. people who bought 9.0 in April 2007 have received all updates since for free).
Additionally anyone purchasing in this sale will receive a free update to version 10 when it is released

There is an download link ("Download link and activation instructions HERE")
for an zip archive (~ 6 MB) with the setup.exe (3.0.0, Oct 25, 2009) and an text file with the license.

I was able to unpack the setup.exe with UniExtract and use this tool without installation
(i have no check done what this does to the OS right now)

First test with an 40 MB encrypted programmers eBook which not allow to copy code to clipboard was successful within a few seconds.

I saw that this app use pdftk. I was not able to decrypt the pdf by pdftk command line only... maybe anyone knows how to do this
(or can explain how PDF Decrypter Pro works)
