Hello!

I'm looking for a clipboard manager that pastes back items in the same order they were copied using only ctrl-V.
The key feature for me is to NOT be forced to use special key combos to access each individual clipboard item (like Ditto).

So far I've found only one app that claims to do this, KlipMan, and it was last updated in 2017 (Can't get it to work in 2020-06).

Obviously this app should only be active while doing certain tasks (like filling out forms), and an always-on-top graphic overlay would probably be a good idea.

User Story:

1. User activates this app - sees a big translucent zero on the screen because the copy queue is empty
2. User copies a name, an address, a phone number
3. User sees the number go from 1, to 2, to 3
4. User goes to a form and pastes 3 times, ^v, ^v, ^v - the 3 items are pasted in a FIFO queue style.
5. User sees the big translucent number go from 2, 1, 0 (because the queue has been emptied)
6. User deactivates this app so that normal clipboard function is restored.

Sound interesting?

Good sirs:

I have catalog files of all my external hard drives.

Has anyone written a plugin to allow FARR to tap into those catalogs?

I'm using the WhereIsIt cataloger at the moment, but I'll gladly switch if someone has written a program for another one.

Thx

P.S. If I find a text-based cataloger, is there a plugin allowing FARR to search text files?

Find And Run Robot / subfolders
« on: February 16, 2012, 09:48 AM »
Hi.
Is FARR supposed to search all subfolders on a drive, even if they aren't added manually?
I'm almost sure one of my computers does so, but on another one, FARR won't find files inside subfolders!
What's going on?

Thanks

Hi.
We got a new hard drive which is apparently slowing down my FARR searches.
But maybe altering the settings in FARR would help.

I see where I can set a delay between the time I stop typing and the time FARR begins searching, but I can't see where to actually set the duration of the delay.

1500 ms would be ideal.
Is that setting in the ini file?

Thanks

Hi.
Is there a file somewhere that contains all my settings?

There are a whole lot of preferences to change every time I want to install FARR on a new computer...

Thanks.

Find And Run Robot / show file size in search results
« on: February 12, 2011, 10:27 AM »
Hi.
With a few minutes searching, I saw some mention of this topic in the forum, but no clear answer.

Would it make the searches just too darn slow?

Thx

Hi Mr. Mouser.

98% of of the time, when I search for a file, I right click it, and immediately press "M" to get to the standard windows context menu.

Is there a way to skip or automate that step, and make FARR immediately route me to the windows context menu?

I'll probably think of a way as soon as I press "Post".

Thanks.

Find And Run Robot / searching for multiple files
« on: December 02, 2010, 05:43 PM »
Hi.
I'm trying to convert my coworker to FARR, and he wont switch away from "Effective File Search" unless he can search for multiple files at the same time.

I've never seen mention of that feature in FARR.

Is it in there somewhere?

For example:

search for
all files containing
q0998989 or v897987987
in one fell swoop?

Thx

Hi.
Here at work I'm trying to introduce everyone to the wonders of MoveOut.

But instead of depositing single files into a "watch folder", everyone puts them in directories first to keep things organized.

Is there any way to get MoveOut to watch for folders and move them to the desired location? Just like it does with files?

Thx

Hey.
I put a shortcut for "Better File Renamer" up in the toolbar of my FARR window, but when I drag a search result onto that icon, it doesn't open the file inside of the renamer.

OK, I said. The Toolbar is just for launching programs.
But then I opened up Tool Properties window, and there are some windows mentioning Working Dir, and Parameters...
This made me think maybe I was wrong.

I'm not sure what to do with these windows, but can I get files to open up into whatever program I drag it to?

Thanks

Skrommel's Software / Noise - AVG and McAfee hate it
« on: April 17, 2010, 10:06 AM »
So I am therefore deleting AVG and McAfee.

But what to do? Any new versions? Or would a decompiled AHK version escape deletion? How would I go about making one of those?

Hi.
My company has a central machine room with several dozen video tape decks in it.
I'm looking for either a website (or an app) that updates its info instantly anytime someone makes a change.
Then anyone in the company can check this site (or app) from their own desktop computer.

Imagine a spreadsheet, with cells representing all the machines in the ingest room

imagine a pulldown menu next to each machine, listing who is using the machine, and another pulldown machine telling when they will be finished using it
and another cell for people to put the machine on reserve... or to notify others that the machine is broken

in excel this would be rather clumsy - involving saving the file every time someone made a change...

Any existing technology that will do this? Or is this much more complicated than I think. Involving HTML 5 or something like that...?

Thanks

Hey.
Brilliant new idea.
I love NoClose, but it doesn't work with windows which are generated inside of the main program window (like with the database and billing system we use at work)

So what I'm looking for, is an AHK GUI rectangle, which I can X-Y position over top of the minimize and close boxes, which is transparent and non-click-thru, and which will prevent users from closing my windows, and then opening 18 unnecessary duplicates of the very same window to do their own tasks.

Basically an invisible button disabler, which could of course be deactivated by quitting the AHK script, but which would nevertheless serve my purpose just fine.

Thanks!

Believe me, I've looked at Mr. Excel macros galore and several backup programs.
Couldn't find any that will do this, although it has to be a simple job for the right programmer.

I'm just looking for something that will dump a backup excel file to a predetermined location, regardless of where we choose to save the main file.
We save excel files all over our network drives, but would like to have a local place where copies go, automatically.

Obviously, people might want to use it for files other than .xls, but having a filter to copy JUST excel files is what I would need.

Is this harder than I think?

Thanks

Post New Requests Here / IDEA: Plugin to help FARR beat DirectoryOpus
« on: September 17, 2009, 02:27 PM »
This may be too hefty to be considered a "snack". Maybe start up a donation commitment page to see if anyone else is interested too?

My two favorite programs are FARR and DirectoryOpus.
FARR is flawless when it comes to searches for single items.
Sadly, I must turn to DirectoryOpus when I have to deal with multiple search results. It creates a "collection" of the results which acts just like a virtual folder, and I can rename, process, batch select, or do anything to that group of files.

Other programs will create a list of links to the "found" files, but if I select several links and the corresponding files are not all on the same drive, my right-click actions will only process the files from the first drive.

The reason I don't use DOpus all the time, is that I am forced to type friggin asterisk wildcards and if if I type, for example, *green*house* instead of *house*green*, it refuses to find the file.

Maybe FARR already has a function to solve this problem that I don't know about? I've only watched 4 of the excellent videos so far.

Hi.
Not sure if this would be useful to anyone else, but I could really use a solution for individualizing my multiple VNC sessions at work. It's impossible to tell one remoted machine from another unless we squint at the frame of each VNC session. I have already made custom mouse cursors for each machine, but that only goes so far...

I would hope to have a different AHK script running on each machine, all of which have the identical gray video capture software interface. The script would allow the user to know in an instant which machine he/she was remoting, by tinting portions of each interface a slightly different color, and also placing a big "CAP6", "CAP7" or "CAP8" label in an unused part of the screen.

All these graphics would be "click-though", of course, so that the user wouldn't even know a script was running. He would just say, "Gee, this program looks different."

I know AHK GUI will do this, but I made a valiant try and discovered it would take months of study to understand just the instructions.

If I could get a pair of boxes created at about 30% transparency, with random color tints, and random text inserted in them I'm sure I could figure out how to modify the XY coordinates and the RGB values from there. If I could get two buttons that launched generic scripts, I could also figure out how to move the buttons (I hope) and create more to launch other scripts.

And I would have joy.

Thanks!

Find And Run Robot / I think I'm missing the basics
« on: September 10, 2009, 05:17 PM »
Hi.
Love the basic program, but every time I find a new plugin, I seem to be missing a basic step once I install it.
How do I trigger them!
It took me forever to find out that "gt" will activate the google tasks plugin, and now I can't find any documentation on how to get the timer plugin to activate.

Is there a way to find these codes out from within FARR?

Thanks
