Greetings everyone! Yes, we've been busy! We have released P2CheckSum and we would love to hear constructive comments/feedback/anything... http://P2Labs.comWe publish the MD5 checksum of our files for download. How do you know their integrity hasn't been breached? Easy, use P2CheckSum and just drag and drop the file on it for the result. Full recursive handling means you can drag a folder and have P2CheckSum traverse it recursively amassing results for all the files. You can then copy it to clipboard for your own use. Publishers of software may find this handy as well. Thanks in advance...

I recommend you edit your post and put the program name into the topic.
Personally, I never compared a single checksum to check if integrity has been breached (and I guess at least 99.99% of all users neither). I try to only download from reliable sources though.

I think most people don't bother because they don't know how to use checksums or even what they're for. I nearly always check the MD5 if one is available. Much more public education is needed.

Once you install there's a single executable and a wav file for the credits dialog. If you don't want the sound then the single file is portable. No DLLs - all packed in onto one file...

If the app is portable then why don't you make the single executable available for download? that way people wouldn't have to install the program first in order to extract the executable.

Good Idea - DONE!! I didn't think there was that much emphasis on portable apps (am I wrong)? Thanks again...

Thank you! portable programs allow me (and probably other people) to quickly try programs without having to install anything. It's just more convenient this way.

Agreed (and you're welcome)!! I'm just modifying my library to add embedded wav file support so you'll get the sound and still all in one file...

Downloading from reliable sources doesn't ensure that your download is perfect. I recently downloaded Windows 7 from MS Technet but it wouldn't install. So, was it the download or my cd burner? Checksum told me the iso download was good. It also told me that Ashampoo Burning Studio wasn't that great afterall. After burning 3 disks that wouldn't install, I reinstalled Nero and burned perfectly the first time. I realize my example doesn't support my argument that you can get a flawed download from a reputable site. But, with any large download, things could happen that are not the fault of the source.

Hey P2Labs can you make the portable versions (no installer) of your other programs available for download? I would really like that.

Your wish is my command!! I've just released portable versions of P2Stego and P2WakeUp. Although the webpage shows them - it'll take overnight (or at least a few hours) for the Amazon cloud to push it out from S3. I'll copy up to my local webserver when I get a chance tonight. Tomorrow they'll be there and I'll get started on the other ones you've requested.

Okay, I tried P2Checksum and didn't really care for it.
The delay during opening (splash?) screen killed it for me. I saw no way to turn that off. The readme says "P2CheckSum instantly analyses the file". Well, it wasn't so instant with that opening delay.
Also, what does the little "P" do in the lower left. It looks like it is selectable, it highlights. Didn't look like it did anything.

I get an error trying to download the portable versions... anyways, it's easy to extract the .exe from the setup files with UniversalExtractor. Tried P2Shredder and P2Stego. I agree with edbro re. the splash screens. Also, P2Shredder is not portable. It creates a folder at UserName\Local Settings\Application Data\P2Labs.

Hey P2labs can you add a feature into P2Checksum to quickly compare a file's MD5 checksum with the checksum of a website? Doing it using only your eyes can be kinda tricky.

Interesting - OK - will add a "Compare" feature which will let you paste one in and drop a file as the other. Result to be displayed. Later today...

OK - Done! 1. Removed splash screen (you need to click the small button in the status bar to show splash screen and theen launch browser to go to my site). 2. Added a compare: Just highlight a checksum, click the compare button (or right click listbox for context menu). You can then paste a checksum you've copied from a file or web page etc. Until the cloud replication occurs you can get them here... 1. Windows install from Amazon S3 2. Portable Version from Amazon S3Thank you everyone for the constructive comments.

Hmm... WinRar created a strange zip file for P2CheckSum-Portable.zip - very odd.. I've fixed that and you can download again from here (until Cloud pushes it out). P2CheckSum-Portable from Amazon S3I've taken the forced splash screen out of P2Shredder and also the dependency on Microsoft's settings. Now, if you don't have a simple config file (ini file format) then P2Shredder will just create one. Should be no entries in \username\etc.\etc\... You can download them again from here (until Cloud pushes it out). P2Shredder-Portable.zip from Amazon S3 SetupP2Shredder.zip from Amazon S3My apologies...
