Addressbook Software Mini-Review

Addressbook Software Mini-Shootout

I've been wanting to do this for quite some time, and so here it is.  Ever since about 2000, I've been on a constant hunt for the perfect addressbook software, and while some come pretty close, none of them come SATISFACTORILY close (personally speaking that is).  I have a fairly strict set criteria for what I am talking about, and here they are..

Xastir: What GPS, weather and radio have in common.

Weather?
Most people, if they want to know what the weather is like, they'll look out the window, or turn on the television.

For us geeks this won't do.

If I remember correctly, there was a discussion on DC about weather programs or even a review, I can't remember, I may have mentioned xastir in there, but I'd really like to start a thread dedicated to this fine piece of software, because I have been able to use it in so many different ways, and it goes quite beyond just weather.

Mini-Review of Fineprint (Virtual Printer)

1Bypass.jpg
App NameFineprint
App URLwww.fineprint.com

What Fineprint Does
Fineprint allows you to intercept your print job if you so choose and after applying any printing enhancements (and there are many) you so choose, send the enhanced output to the physical printer you choose. You can even edit the print job such as inserting a blank page, deleting a page or just print a single page or save to a jpg or tiff etc, combine it into one print job and print several jobs all at one go.

In a nutshell, not only can Fineprint help you lay out multiple pages on one page of paper, but it allows you to easily add watermarks, custom footers and headers (date, time, pagination, name......), gutters for binding the printout, transform your lowly non duplex printer into a duplex printer, combine print jobs, save print jobs for reuse, print without graphics, save a page as graphic, save time, save paper, save ink, create custom virtual printers.  And all this is very easily done and visually guided by a previews of results. And you won't even need to bother with the help file.

Anyone know of some good voice mail software?

blog clipart
I am tired of standard answering machines and their ridiculous little button interfaces.  I want some software running on my computer to handle this with a modern interface that makes dealing with my messages much easier.

Ideally, it would be network aware where I can run it on my machine and have a client version on my wifes computer so she can check messages from her PC.  Should be caller id aware, but then that is a given now.

Internet accessible would be a big plus so you can easily check messages from a remote location.  Another great feature would be the ability to send emails on incoming calls from all callers or just specific callers (caller id of course).

Oh, and a huge plus would be the ability for it to display caller id info on the screen when a call comes in, and to do this in a non-intrusive manner.

So, anyone know any good voice mail software? :)

App NamegPhotoShow Pro

Intro:

App and I went looking for screensaver makers recently, for building a screensaver of Nudone's Cody Images.  One requirement that I had which was a bit unusual was good multimonitor support.  I also wanted the user to have control over most options after installation (transition times, etc.)  And if possible I wanted support for flash and avi animations.

After trying out a ton of different programs, I narrowed down my selection of best screensaver makers to a short list of 3 tools:
