Cody's (Internet Citizens) Club Cody, our rambunctious little bird mascot, has decided to form his own club and he wants you to join it! What's it all about? Mainly it's about being good internet citizens and active DC participants, and working as a team. In each of our bi-monthly newsletters you'll have a small assignment or two - like finding a freeware author you like and emailing them a thank you, or participating in a forum poll. As a Cody Club member, we ask that you perform the Cody Club newsletter task (or else invent one of your own if you object to the one we've chosen) in each newsletter. Sometimes we will be able to make our voices heard by acting together at the same time when a new newsletter is released, so be sure to do your tasks on time! Occasionally club members will get a little treat, like a postcard in the mail, or a Cody Club iron on, or access to a secret website page or present. Only Cody knows for sure! We'll have a form later for club members to fill in with their address if they want to receive such mail from Cody. And of course you'll get a special badge under your name in the forum to show you are part of the Cody elite.
To catch up on previous and current Cody Club assignments, just read the newsletters. You have to keep up with all the tasks to stay a club member in good standing!

Okay, how will you know we have completed our tasks and are eligible for the badge? Self-reporting? If so, I'm in.

For anyone contemplating making (or changing) an avatar, there's a feature on here that I discovered by accident. In case you don't know about it, here it is. Click on "view the supporter yearbook" at the top right of this page. Then click on the bar for "avatars." There you can see a display of every avatar that is in use. It's a beautiful sight. Also, you can see how many others may already be using the one you are thinking of choosing because it is so uniquely "you," so you can maybe choose something else. Someday, I'd love to see a contest of the original avatars.

This will be a completely self-reporting thing - you will be on your own honor to say whether you have been living up to your Cody Club responsibilities. The form to signify you are in Cody's Club will be available soon - until then just act accordingly.
ps. One of the tasks for Cody Club in the latest newsletter was fill in a short biography. You can see under a forum posters avatar image above a red little note icon if there is a biography configured. Some of you Cody Clubbers still haven't set your biographies!

We will try to think of some more fun things to give to Cody Club members. Maybe we boost their chances of winning in the drawings a bit ps. You mean I had to suffer through two weeks of not knowing what the exclusive Cody Club was just to find out it was a secret message saying "Be Sure to Drink Your Ovaltine"? for anyone who doesn't get this reference - its from a christmas movie where the kid listens to this old time secret agent radio show and gets a secret message and gets super excited and when he decodes it finds out to his complete dissapointment that it's an advertisement for ovaltine.

I thought at first all the assignments were done, when I took a quick look at my biography and realized it needed a little updating. I had a birthday recently and had to change the age...and a few other things. So now I am done.

Wouldn't you know it, I've been a member all my life . . . or, at least, already completed the assignment(s). I think. I'm not willing to check the introduce yourself thread, I hate reading things I wrote previously.

Actually, what do you think about using the badge: as an icon under the avatar for Club Members? What's the possability of being able to then access related posts in the Cody Club forum by clicking on the icon?? Maybe filter the list to that specific author?? I'm thinking one of the neat things about this is that there will be many different ways of completing the tasks, which will give others lots of ideas of how to be "good internet citizens"?? - Perry
