.Net Framework: v2.0 install
« on: November 05, 2006, 04:16:02 PM »
Hi.  I downloaded Mobysaurus v1.0.36 out of curiosity but after installing it, I received the .NET Framework Initialization Error requesting that I install v2.0.50727.

Just finished downloading that file and got to thinking why should I install an optional MS update needed for only one program that I may not even keep.

Any thoughts about this?  That is, do you know if updating .NET Framework to v2.0 will be beneficial to my system in other ways?

Thanks in advance.
Compaq Presario 5716 (98), Dell Dimension 4700 (XP), Lenovo ThinkPad T530 (Win 7).

.net applications (and thus .net framework 2) are becoming more and more popular; if you install new software on a fairly regular basis you are going to need to install it sooner or later :)

Mouser is right...which is why I installed it on my old pc even though I don't have anything running on it yet that needs it. I figured get it done & over with and out of the way so I won't have to do it later.

On that slow pc it took quite awhile to install it. I would hate to have to have done it later after installing a program that needed it.

i don't think it causes any grief to have .NET Framework installed in your PC. it was like installing VB runtimes, soon they were incorporated into Windows itself (WinXP)..
