IDEA: Rename files from default when downloading
« on: July 28, 2006, 07:41:04 PM »
Hi, :)

I download alot of files (usually executables) and I was wondering if anyone could could program a script / compile a exe to do this...

Basically I would like a utility that would search for a program name on the webpage I am downloading from and rename the downloaded file to that name. For example if If I was downloading a program called 'MP3 Ripper' and the download link is 'mp3rip32' the program will search the webpage for a title and rename the downloaded program to MP3 Ripper.

I know it wouldn't work for all pages, any ideas would be appreciated

why not use Skrommel's DragKing (http://www.donationc.../index.html#DragKing) so that just before you're about to click on the download button/link, you highlight the app's name. Then ctrl-v plus an extension in the save as dialog box.
