My 1-year Facebook Death-a-versary!!!
« on: December 01, 2014, 06:37:03 AM »
1 year ago today I killed myself off on Facebook and stopped posting entirely. No posts. No likes. No nothing. (I have been tempted, but have successfully resisted.)

I'm wondering if I should do a zombie post...

Arrr... BRAINS!

Meh... maybe not.

I decided that I'm sick of the massive privacy intrusion and that I wouldn't cooperate any longer with it.

I'm not a product, and won't be sold as one.

I don't need "free" services or products. I'd rather just pay for them upfront.

I don't hate Facebook, but I just won't play that game.

Thank you for listening/reading. 8)

I haven't 'killed' myself on FB for one reason.  Games.  I play two games on FB, that are only available through the FB platform.  Every once in a while I get sucked back into looking at posts... but if those games weren't there, I would have faded away.  A FB Ghost :)

I admire those who are not on facebook.  It's something I want to do, but certain friends of mine were kind of offended when I said I'd remove myself because they use it to keep in touch with me and it's more convenient this way (they have somewhat hectic situations).  So for that reason, I am staying on.

I don't have a presence on FB to kill off ... Never did.

I do have a fake account for occasional testing purposes, but it seems pointless to murder it just for sport.

...But I guess for my upcoming 50th birthday I could consider having something killed ... Is homicide usually given as a Bucket List item?? :-\

I have tried killing FB, but I have too many links from other site/apps that would die also.... at the least be too much of a pain to have to sign up again using just my email address.

This is exactly the problem with their evil genius!

ha!  very funny.  :D

A few years ago, I almost pulled the plug when their privacy/security options got so bizarrely weird.  I got so pissed at how hard it was to hide or display specific things.  It felt like when you ask a politician a question and he starts filibustering.

I think you should have spiced it up a little:

FB Ryan died a terrible death today, a victim of the loss of too much digital blood caused by the amputation of his online privates privacies.

...But I guess for my upcoming 50th birthday I could consider having something killed ... Is homicide usually given as a Bucket List item?? :-\

Wouldn't that be Virtual Suicide not homicide?

A few years ago, I almost pulled the plug when their privacy/security options got so bizarrely weird.

My younger sister had the same problem. She asked if I knew how to fix it. I told her "no" and suggested she ask one of her kids.

Her 13-year old daughter said "no problem" and got her all squared away in about 15 minutes. ("Boy Mom! Sometimes you are so dumb! You never ever leave these settings at their default!!!)

If you're born to it, it's no big deal I suppose. Kids seem to grok Facebook inside out.

Next time you have a FB question - ask a kid.

Nope, I'd be killing an entirely different (e.g. not me) virtual person(a) ... So homicide.
