MegaUpload Comeback?
« on: September 24, 2012, 03:19 PM »
News from Torrent Freak - Mega Upload may come back:

http://torrentfreak....code-90-done-120923/

January this year the U.S. Government destroyed Megaupload, but founder Kim Dotcom is a not done with the file-hosting business yet and is preparing to come back with a vengeance. The coding work for the new Megaupload is nearly finished, the servers have been ordered, and investors are lining up. A return of the file-hosting site appears to be looming.

What was done (with questionable legality) once can be done again. I don't think he - or Megaupload - are out of the woods just yet... :tellme:

Whatever, who the hell wants to upload stuff on their site (even non copyright one) only to get it removed because some people screw the file sharing part for you.

He ain't out of the woods...but he ain't deep in them either. And if he can make a big enough mess (not a huge one...) on the way out, the Feds will have to go looking for a fight they can win elsewhere. Kinda of a question of which one do they hate worse, losing or wasting time. :)

That's not cynicism. It's experience speaking. :P

Less publicized, the other servers are going down too.

WatchSeries went down sometime this winter, and 1channel.ch seems to be struggling this week!

I haven't done research if these are man in the middle ISP attacks or not.

Could be.

But it seems like they're doing their best right now to keep Pirate Bay on the run. Each time they move, pressure gets brought to bear to make them move again. Sooner or later they're going to run out of havens.

Wonder of something similar is starting to happen to the other sites? Maybe some combination of legal and covert harassment? They're already pressuring the big search engines to not index any of the major filesharing sites, regardless of the legality of content the spiders identify.
