Knowing there are a number of cat people here, could someone point me in the right direction of how to remove white eye in photo.  Removing red eye I have had success.  But white eye for some reason it just ends up looking like a black blotch,
Here's a reduced size of the photo. Used Renegade's Photo Resizer.



All I have to work with at the moment is GIMP or Paint.net. Checked their sites for tutorials and haven't located any yet.  Thought maybe someone here may know.
I've been wanting to add his picture along with our other 5 "fur kids" for some time to the "Show us a photo..." thread and haven't gotten to it.  This is the best one I have of him. Unfortunately I'm not able to take a better one because in a couple of hours sadly we will be taking him to the vet for the last time.

Thanks for any suggestions.

the problem here is that the eyes are totally over exposed/white.
I can select the eye area and tone it down - like this

I used Paintshop Pro 7's red-eye removal tool, which actually just creates a new pupil & iris and sets it over the original. It has only 3 choices for animal eyes, only one of them being a cat.

This was the result:



Then I went and did it again, but this time selecting a "human eye", in the color green, and chose a shade of green from their eye palette.

This was the result:



Beyond this, I do not know how to fix your image. I can redo the "human eye" if you like the look but the color is wrong.

Actually, my daughter seems to think the cat eye one looks really weird. She says it would be perfect for our cat, which always has that wide eyed scared look.  Grin

I'm sorry to hear about your cat. IMO, app's second upload looks the best of the lot.

OT:
I try and avoid flash usage altogether whenever I can help it, most automatic cameras are guilty of excessive flash usage and it's the best way to mess up a perfectly good shot. My stupid Nokia refuses to remember the last setting and needs me to switch it off manually each time.  mad

I know I said earlier that I prefered app's first shot. It's more realistic, but it's true, it does give that very startled look...

Sorry I took so long to get back to thank you for your words, work and suggestions
@app... I have to agree with the others that the 1st one makes him look stoned.  But that really wasn't a bad thing that day.  When we got back I showed to to my wife and that was her immediate reaction, "he looks like he's stoned" and she got a good laugh.  Grin Thanks.  In the almost 16 years we had him he would sometimes sit in a room just staring into space.  It was called his "look at the pretty colors" look.
Anyway, your 2nd one is almost on. Even using the "human eye." Many say (me included) animals are more human than people give them credit for.

@vlastimil thanks for yours.  I like "carpet eyes" but too green.  But between yours and app's it has given me the way they need to look.  In fact I found a plug-in for Paint.net called "Eyeshine Removal" I've done a little work with and I think it is going to do the trick.  Soon as I'm happy with it I'll post to the other thread with pics of the rest of the brood.

I've tried not using a flash when taking pet pics without a whole lot of success.  Either the room is too dark or it comes up blurry cause I've shook.  Even with the shake detection feature on.  But I'll keep trying.
