No - it's probably nothing like what you're thinking... it's just, wrong.

For those with an affinity for numbers:

http://consumerist.c...stronomical-numbers/

“There are 10^11 stars in the galaxy. That used to be a huge number. But it’s only a hundred billion. It’s less than the national deficit! We used to call them astronomical numbers. Now we should call them economical numbers.” - Richard Feynman, 1965 Nobel Prize in Physics winner.

Hamish the house-builder.

This little gem came with the comment that some people might say that it should actually be about someone named "Murray", and that the scene should be set in New Zealand.  You can make your own observations about that, but I couldn't possibly comment, of course.

A couple on holiday in Scotland go to a local pub in a small village, and order some drinks.  As they sit there, they notice that a big man sitting near to their table is staring moodily into his drink and muttering to himself.  Eventually, he notices them, and turns to them. He points to a window and growls out, "D'ye no see that house doon the road there?"

The couple nod, they can see a house in the direction he's pointing.

"Aye.  Wheel, I built it meself!  Every board and nail.  Now d'ye think folk aroond here should call me Hamish the House-builder for that?"

They shrug and say, "Why, for building just one house?"

"Mebbe not for that then? Fair enough.  But suppose I tell ye I built half the houses aroond here, single-handedly!  Shouldn't they be a callin' me Hamish the House-builder for that?  Shouldn't they?"

They couple agree "Yeah, guess they should.  That would seem pretty likely, for building all those houses single-handedly.  That's pretty impressive!"

The man glares angrily into his beer and grumbles "Aye, that they should. But ye go an' f### just ONE sheep..."

Hahaha!

I love those! When I was in high school my friends & I would chuck that kind of stuff at each other. It was good fun.

And all the best Newfie jokes came from Newfs.

Yes. It is like that. Exactly!

All programmers are acutely aware of the butterfly effect.

And it's not just programming... I get in that 'zone' when I'm laying out a document in Publisher, doing some fine-tuning on my guitar designs in CAD, tracking down why the last update to my Debian system borked half my packages... Man, do I ever know the pain of the last panel in that comic.

Also, from the comments on the imgur page:
That guy is singing/whistling as he goes. He knew what he did. He knew. That bastard!

+1 - I just had a poorly timed interruption cost me 2 hours of putting Humpty-Dumpty's ass back together last week.

Yup! Happens to me from time to time. Usually during a server configuration. 15 second interruption for something stupid. One hour plus getting the big picture back in your head. Then another 30 minutes getting fully back into the zone...

Oh it wasn't so much that the big picture went out of focus. It was more a case of applying it to the wrong target...

This Coffee-Brewing Alarm Clock is a Dream Come True

The original automatic coffee maker:

Or you could do like I do and brew it before you go to bed, directly into a thermal carafe. It keeps it hot for 6-8 hours, and I only sleep about 4. ;)

I just ordered an arduino board with the idea to make an instant coffee alarm clock. I happen to like good instant coffee. These machines are too slick, it has to look all weird with duct tape and spoons on servo motors. Will post when I get it attempted.

I'd like a Johnny 5 waiter to come rolling into my bedroom in the morning, holding a tray with a full breakfast, complete with a rosebud in a vase. Now that would be "too slick".  ;)

Little Johnny asks his Dad: "I have this homework on politics and economy and I'm not if I understand it"
Dad says: "Use the family as an example. I make the money so I'm the Capitalists, your mother deals it out, so she's the Government, we look after you, so you're the People, the baby is the Future, and we pay the maid so she is the Working Class"

That night Johnny is woken up by the baby crying, so he checks it and it needs changing. So he goes to tell his parents, but only his mother is there and she doesn't wake up. He goes to tell the maid, but finds that she's 'busy' with his dad.
He goes back to bed.

Next morning his dad asks how he is going with the homework. Johnny says: "I think I understand it. The Capitalists screw the Working Class while the Government is asleep. The People are ignored and the Future is full of sh*t"

I wonder what logic caused them to draw the line at IE v3.0 ... Was that even a Windows program, or did DOS have a browser??
