how to play mp3 files faster?
« on: November 19, 2005, 04:30 AM »
Hi,

I remember seeing a plugin for Winamp to play mp3 files faster, but can't find it anymore. Does anyone know it? It would be perfect if I could set it to play mp3 files with 110, 120, ...150% of normal speed.

I often record discussions from radio and would like to hear those faster, as I'm able to understand most discussions faster than they talk :)

Hi Innuendo, thanks a lot!

I'm using PaceMaker now - already sent a bug report to the coder :D

It's really funny to play with the sliders!  8) Only 10 years ago you would have had to pay LOTS of cash to be able to do something like this.

The author of pacemaker will just tell you to revert to an older version of Winamp. He really doesn't care about how it works with current versions. Trust me, I contacted him once about 3 or 4 years ago.

Just doing what I can...there are more plugins available on Winamp's site such as:

This:
http://www.winamp.co...details.php?id=23981

This:
http://www.winamp.co...etails.php?id=135991

And this:
http://www.winamp.co...details.php?id=94279

Usually always more than one way to take care of a Winamp need/problem.

Anyoelse in here using the latest Winamp beta from http://fileforum.betanews.com/ ? I can't use ANY plugin from this thread to play mp3 files faster now!

Winamp always crashes :(

Is it the latest beta or did something on my PC break?

hmm this is interesting to me... I also could really use something like this (wish winamp supported it natively) and am using winamp pro 5.13.  I did not try pacemaker after Brother reported it not working but will do some further searching.  Are there other players that support this feature built in?

good news: while listening to streaming radio online, I removed quite a few files from the Winamp folder. Old plugins, plugins for features I don't use, etc. - then I installed Pacemaker again, and it now works again!

Nice :)
