Problems with installing plugins in FARR
« on: October 11, 2008, 10:31 PM »
When I try to install a plugin that uses JavaScript I get:
"FARR variable 'displayname' was not returned for <plugindirectory>\GooglePlus\fscript.js"
and then "External exception E06D7363".

Not only that, when I try to exit out of the Plugin manager, it will keep popping this messages up. If I install the plugin when FARR is closed then it will not open saying:
"---------------------------
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
---------------------------
Runtime Error!

Program: C:\Program Files\FindAndRunRobot\FindAndRunRobot.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

---------------------------
OK
---------------------------"

Ive just did an intensive study of a lot of windows quicksilver clones. Before I was using ENSO which was working great for me, doing exactly what I wanted, but now it started crashing left and right, so I had to stop using it. Now the only thing that prevents me from using FARR is the fact that I cant install the plugins I want  :-\.
Help? :tellme:

Btw, I am currently using Windows Vista Business.

That error suggests the the plugin is not returning information it needs to -- but i'm not sure why that would be.

There are several plugins that use FScript -- i think maybe a good thing to do would be to try different plugins and try to see if some work and some dont -- and in particular if all fscript plugins dont work but others do.

ive tried:
googleplus, character_table, clock, dicts_thesaurus, ninjawords

these all use fscript.js, and none of them work.

farralttab, fcalc, filemanagment, klipkeeper, nircmd, winmanagment
dont use fscript.js and they do work.

i'd like to include fscript/fsubscript with farr, but i'm afraid to until we get these issues resolved.

I don't know if this would help with diagnosing the issue, but is it practical to try to reproduce the problem under another account on the same machine?
