Gothic and I had to take it offline, it was eating up all the memory on the server -- we are going to have to recode part of it to reduce memory usage.

member map is back, and worse than ever!*

* That's not a typo -- i had to remove some of the features to bring it down to a small enough resource usage to be acceptable -- but it still does the important stuff.

Looking good - and a heck of a lot nippier!

One nice feature would be to only show the one member location on the map when you click on the map icon below the member name in the forum - otherwise it is hard work to find their user name and it wastes a lot of time loading the whole database.

note that once its loaded, moving around and clicking dont cause server load, so that wouldnt help the server, though it might make it easier to see things..  maybe a compromise would be to change the pin for clicked user to green.

change the pin for clicked user to green.

That seems a good idea!

Seems like a reasonable idea - but if the user is in a heavily populated area of the map it still woulldn't necessarily show where the user is without having to dig about.

If I click on an individual user map location it seems to make sense to me to only show that user - it is then very clear. If I want to see where everyone is I can click on member map.

Wondering: Could there be an implemented function in the search box or something to search for a user on the map? Maybe even a search box on the map page itself? It would make finding people much easier (I know you can go to their profile, but this way it kind of integrates a bit). Just a thought.

Sorry for bothering with not so important issue, but I can't see avatars of many members when clicking the pin. It applies to myself, but for Darwin, for example, too. It appears that the missing avatars pictures incorrectly point to http://www.donationc...r.com/forum/avatars/, thus no picture is displayed.

Anyway, thanks for having the map back!

i had to do some major work on the code to get it to not destroy the server with all of the data it was loading.. and in the process i ended up removing the code that fetched the proper avatars for some users.. but i should be able to bring them back efficiently the next time i visit the code. just have to do a few other things first.

We've finally reached 1000 members on the Member Map (boy it sure takes a while to load):

Wouldn't want to live in that (second) northern most one, wherever it may be...somewhere north of Finland!
