IP Spotting is a website that will analyze your IP address and score it based on how "interesting" it is.

It will display your IP address as a bitmap, a poker hand, a point on a map, a color, a UNIX date, a phrase, and even check to see if it is a valid product barcode.

It will score your IP based on what it finds.

My IP was scored at 14...kind of boring.

It was a losing poker hand, a nasty shade of green, not a very interesting day in history, no place special on a map.

It did contain 2 prime numbers, however.

My IP address scored a 4

Quote
Your IP is 24.119.0.22

    * 0 is one digit (+2)
    * IP as a bitmap

Which does not look much like anything. (0)
    * The country this IP is from (USA) is part of the G8 (+1)
    * Your IP address as a poker hand:
      Seven of ♠ Spades
      Eight of ♠ Spades
      King of ♣ Clubs
      Ace of ♠ Spades
      Six of ♠ Spades

    * The IP translates to Monday 3rd January 1983 as a UNIX date
      On this day:
      Apple Computer founded, 1977 (+1)

I've never played poker, so I don't know if that's a good hand or not. As a color it was some reddish color, and a grey place on Google Maps.

I think it's just you, because I think the link I used for the image will show you what your IP looks like. To me, if it looks like anything, I'd say it looks like an evil/angry face with a "beauty spot" (aka mole).

And I'm in Canada, arguably not in a very interesting place. To others that is Wink

In the UK, the pejorative noun anorak (similar to the Japanese "otaku", meaning a geek or enthusiast) is often applied to people who obsessively pursue a particular hobby that is considered boring, such as train spotting or stamp collecting.

Darwin,

I *may* be cheating.  This is my IP at work, University of PEI (www.upei.ca).  We were the first assigned domain in the ca group, so we have an entire class D address tree Wink Or do I have that backwards?

regardless, I apparently have alot of Prime number thingies in my address, which ramped up the score.

My favourite so far is still mediaguycouk at -2

Here's and interesting one:

My IP scored a 13, yielded a pair of nines, a dull dark olive green-like color, but though I am in the NE USA it placed me out in the Pacific Ocean just off the coast of So. America!

Hi.

My first post here.

Quote
Score: 15
Your IP is 89.166.33.179
89 is prime +5
179 is prime +10
(+15)

Your IP address as a poker hand:
Seven of ♣ Clubs
Jack of ♣ Clubs
Nine of ♣ Clubs
Two of ♦ Diamonds
King of ♦ Diamonds

You have nothing (0)
IP address as a colour (0)
The IP translates to Wednesday 30th August 2017 as a UNIX date (0)
This IP address as a phrase: land no mean cover (0)

My point on the map was near Antarctic. Arctic would have been closer.

I especially like that sentence: You have nothing (0). How do they know?  smiley

Yeah, and it's also interesting that they say beforehand that a future date isn't worth any points. How can they know that? Do they have a time machine? I want one too!! cheesy
