TrackMania Nations Forever! w00t!
« on: April 16, 2008, 09:37:04 AM »
Pardon my excitement, but this is a great game. So, the good guys at Nadeo did it again, releasing an update to the acclaimed TrackMania Nations that was also given away two years ago. Not only that, but those who purchased TrackMania United can download a BIG patch to update the game to the new installment.

What's so great about this game? Apart from being something impressive to be offered for free, the game is total mayhem and joy all the way. It's the simplest racing game you could ever think about, but that doesn't mean it's challenging. It's exactly the same as I used to do when I was a kid, playing with toy cars over the strangest tracks conceived with whatever I had at hand, but this time is for grown-ups, so you don't have to feel bad about it ;)

Get it here

Alternative download

Their servers are getting hammered, so you'll probably have better luck downloading it from external servers, either the one I link above, or from your favourite gaming site.

yeah, this is a cool game! in fact, i'm in the midst of downloading. but i do wish they had provided torrent-based downloads to lessen the burden on the main servers.

Oh is that all it is? I thought it was those electronic ones with screens for lenses that cost $300.

lol, nah, they just made it support the red/blue 3d glasses, it makes the game a tad bit more interesting, but I switched to regular play, it wasn't exciting enough to keep it like that.

I found this game about a week ago - I love making stuff, so my collection of custom maps is rising quickly. I wonder just how insane you can make a track...

Anyways, if you play, add me - wreckedcarzz; its the only name I go by ;)

VERY insane, some of the custom tracks available in the biggest servers are designed in a absolutely frustrating way. And well, C-12 Obstacle is hard enough the way it is (lost count of how many resets I have in that track in online mode)

As I am sure Deozaan will agree, I can make some pretty weird tracks. Most of mine can be completed under 60 seconds, but they all take at least 10 retries- even if you know the course already. Annoying, yet fun and completely "off the wall". Like going 900MPH? How about 1000? Downhill? :D

Although, I do need to patch mine a bit. People can get creative when they are under time pressure about exactly HOW they make it to the finish... :)

Heh. "Creative." That's a very nice way of saying I'm always looking for shortcuts.

Pretty spiffy. I'm in the game as "WilliamKidd".
