Does anyone know what the relation is, if any, between Easeus and Eassos? The names and products seem so similar...
I don't think so, Easeus is a big company (seems to) with a rather wide range of products whereas Eassos seems rather small.  Their products are quite different in design (partition manager). Unfortuntely ToDo Backup which used to be quite usable is now terrible (over 15h to perform an image where other imagers require 1 or 2 hours). I would call this the "Acronis syndrome"...

I found this :
http://easysyncbacku...CryptoMonitorDetails, free currently (until the newest version is released).  Of course when the PC is already under attack it's too late.  Did not try it yet.

Oh, I meant a free version for Emsisoft.  I already have Panda Free installed...

31
There is a free edition ???  Do you have by chance a link at hand ?  Thanks.

32
Discount codes ?

33
Maybe both, if kitty-cat is its real name...

34
Hi, I installed it on a slow PC, a HP210 running XP Starter Edition, where Kaspersky was putting this machine down on its knees, rendering it unusable.  After Panda Free 2015, it is again "workable" and no special error spotted to far.

Excellent !!!

Thanks all.  Rather than tubes in the garden I think it were streams, but not of water but of something that had the ability to cause time travel.  It's when the main character jumps over one of these streams, which is forbidden, that time travel occurs.  I also remember that at the beginning of the story he visits the garden as a child with his family.

Hi all,

I am looking for a science-fiction short story, I just remember the synopsis, partly. It's a time travel story, where the main character, a boy at the beginning of the story and an adult at the end keeps returning to a strange garden which is used to launch rockets ? Or something else scientific related.  And for some reasons, I can't remember, this garden is flowing with tubes that create some time shifts, essential to the scientific activity.  It's strictly forbidden to come across them but for some reason some day he will, and since that day he will meet a stranger that tries to communicate with him but somehow eludes him. And, big spoiler coming, it happens that this stranger is himself at a different times.

I read it as a part of a compilation of short stories, but I really cannot find neither the title nor the author.

Any hint much welcome, as always.

Thanks !

What's the rough plot or the ending? So whazzisname keeps returning to this garden to "do something", to what effect? And since the stranger can't communicate, is it all futile that the older self is trying to fix something but then can't communicate so Whatever-Bad still happens?

Well, the details are really fuzzy, I read that over 30 years ago. The thing that puzzles me is the kind of link there is (in my memories) with these time-travel effects and the rocket launchpad.  Maybe I am just mixing two stories.  I can't even remember whether I read it in English or French. French I guess, at that time I was mostly reading translated books. Thanks for asking !

May be not helpful, but FWIW:

Thanks, a long list, but nice find.

I remember http://www.otakusoftware.com/ had graphically nice products, haven't used them since a long time...

The Cheekiest Remarks of Hollywood's Golden Age Sex Symbols

Nothing by Mae West

She was as cheeky as there was in her time.

Excellent, thanks ! I like a lot "I have seen things and be places" transformed into "I have been things and see places". Or something like that.

Right click over the image, and select "Save Image As" works on my browser (Maxthon Nitro).

Granted, I never use SumatraPDF for editing neither printing, just viewing and it is just perfect for that.

SumatraPDF, it also reads Comics under .cbz format and others. Very fast.

General Software Discussion / Re: MxNitro Browser
« on: April 01, 2015, 12:27 PM »

I am using the portable version.  It told me there was an update.  I downloaded and ran it.  It put the thing in my settings folder.  I just deleted the old portable and moved the folder over.  So far the main thing that irks, that I sent in feedback about, is there's no Bookmarks Toolbar.  I have to go through a bunch of clicks to use a bookmark.  If they could fix that it might be usable.

Edit: The other bad news is it does not support multiple urls on the command line.  I can't even overcojme the Bookmark Bar deficit by using BrowserBunch to launch a bunch.  :(

Actually I just use a few bookmarks and I type the rest in the address bar, the history does the rest...  But maybe I am really visiting just a few websites a day.

I'll say one thing for it.  They seem to have some marketing panache. Instead of the usual wizard the update installer(more like an unpacker since it was portable) had a big green arrow and looked cool.  What was uncool was that it just stuck the folder in my user settings without asking.  But at least it looked good doing it.  :)
I agree, the default installation folder that can't be changed is annoying, that's why I use the portable version.

Good for you!  :)
Have you tried Opera's latest chromium based?
Here's what GHacks reported in a recent article.
Thanks, I'll have a look.  I have an installed version of Opera 28 but can't find this setting.  Will try again later on.
