... You don't get income tax  :eusa_naughty:. You pay it (and pay it some more). Indeed, you're not getting anything. What they'll be sending to you, commonly called an "income tax return" ...
YYyeah, THAT!

So long as I'm understood, and I think everyone did - even you CWuestefeld!
However, thanks for the clarification.

And thanks for the reminder!
6. A new PC - mine is just about as old as yours. I saw a member yesterday buy two Gateway PCs at Costco. Each one had 3 gigs of RAM. Including monitor, each PC was priced under $700.
But I'm pretty sure your new upcoming rig and mine won't be near that price-range.

jammo: hope meds will work for you, be sure to give it some time (SUCKS that a lot of psyhofarmaca takes up to several months before the positive effects kick in, while you might have the side effects from day 1 >_<).
Thanks for the support!

Personally, I'm looking forward to getting rid of my debt, hopefully Q1 of 2008... then? Perhaps saving up some money, getting me a nice new box, and enjoying summer.
Oh yeah, we talked about this a few weeks ago:
5.Pay off Debts - we owe $9,900+/- and plan on paying that off within 12 months, that's why I'm so hung up on getting my bonus and income tax - alone, those two checks could wipe out our debt.

103
1.Income Tax
Got a new baby girl (four and a half months old now), so my wife and I are all looking forward to our larger than average check this year.
2.Bonus Check
After having worked 10,000 hours for my employer (Costco Wholesale), I qualify for a bi-annual bonus check.
3.New Website
My wife bought me a few new domain names for Christmas and a years hosting with DreamHost
:) I LOVE my geeky wife!
4.Getting Medicated
As you read in my signature - I was diagnosed by two different Psychologists as having Hypomania/Bipolar and ADD. Due to depression, I stopped seeing them. Since the birth of my daughter, I'm determined to kick this disorder aside and hopefully get with a Psychiatrist to get properly medicated. So I can spend more time with my family, stop forgetting things, perform better at work, get more things done around the house, and nearly the MOST importantly - establish myself as a freelance web developer.

HOW BOUT YOU ALL!

@Mouser:
How about, on the subject of the CD, to include all previous versions of our Newsletters?!

105
I need to do a similar thing.
Have a Gateway MT3421 Lappy. Love it. Hate Vista.

QUESTION ABOUT IMAGING?!
To create my hard disk image of the current setup, don't I need to create some free space?! ie. another partition big enough FOR the image?
Or can it be created and burned to DVD, like, live?!
I've never had to create an image before, but this seems the inevitable first step to UPgrading to XP SP2. haha.

The only foreseeable issue with the wiki would be to have it allow us users to be logged in here (on the forum) and there (on the wiki) so we can maintain sessions, usernames, etc.
I know it's possible! :)

And since the site is called Donation Coder, a list of top Donators and top Coders?!

Aside from my previous #1 Favorite Forum (http://www.sr20forum.com/), which WAS my favorite, till I sold my SE-R.

Then there's always http://expressionengine.com/forums/, where I spend the rest of my time.

But DonationCoder has quickly climbed to the top. In terms of friendliness and usefulness.

110
I have this too.
Have had it for a few years, funny shtuff, hahahaha.

111
Please understand, I'm not offering my book. Just gauging interest, see if it's worth it for me/you.

Back in August, I was going to buy Dreamweaver CS3. And in anticipation, I bought the DWCS3 Bible (link)
but after careful consideration of my expenses, it was not possible.

So I have this brand new book, CD included. It's never even been thumbed through.
Would this item be fair enough trade to someone in exchange for a little graphic design work? Like a logo?
Although I have no problem designing my own work, I just have no need for the book.

(I posted this on webhostingtalk, but it was delete cause a moderator there cant count to 10 (i need 10 posts to post an advertisement - dumb!))

General Software Discussion / Re: i've outgrown keepass, whats next?
« on: December 02, 2007, 10:42 AM »
Good idea Carol, but it would have to be secure enough to contain ALL my hosting passwords for several websites.
Name Servers, GoDaddy logins, Credit Card Numbers (I use different cards for different sites), I.P. Addresses, etc.

The password strength meter and generator would be nearly essential.

I've been using KeePass for many years now.
Can't live without it ... or can I?

I know there are countless threads about password management, but I need something different.

| Title | User Name | URL | Password | Notes |

Those are the only column choices available. Aside from Creation/Modified Time, etc.
I need some little program to store more information.
Essentially the above columns, but customizable perhaps, so I could add or remove columns?!

While I was searching for a replacement password manager, but then I started to think maybe I need a general purpose PIM?
But I've not come across any that also have a password generator with strength meter.

i would like to try css and php.  What's the easiest way to go about it?
Instead of focusing on css and php, try just HTML/XHTML and CSS.
http://www.htmldog.com/

There are bound to be many other recommendations for various sites, but just don't overwhelm yourself.

A second site to check out would be http://www.w3schools.com/
I like their site cause they have more than just the basics, they touch-up on XML and PHP.

General Software Discussion / Re: dumb VISTA lost my drivers
« on: November 08, 2007, 11:42 PM »
Oh, if the mouse came with a CD to install something ... I dunno. My wife doesn't recall a CD in the package.
She bought it for me as a gift.

General Software Discussion / dumb VISTA lost my drivers
« on: November 08, 2007, 11:35 PM »
About two weeks ago, my 3 months old Gateway Vista laptop took a dive towards its grave.
While I was at work, my wife used it in the morning to check her email. Then later around noon, it would not power on, and when it did, it was a BSOD.
She took a camera phone pic of it, sent it to me at work, then left it as it was. I got home from work (terrible day) and didn't bother tinkering with it.
She powered it off and successfully powered it on the following day, while I was at work. Then again, it stopped working. This time, it appears to be stuck on a black screen while booting up.
She left it that way, and called Gateway Support. Their tech guys must be terrible. She says they offered to repair it, after not much trouble shooting, and they said they would send a packing box to have her send the laptop to them via DHL Shipping - paid both ways by them. hhmm, nice, eh?!
After the third day of malfunctioning, it seemed to be okay! Well, it seemed to be.
I decided that sending the laptop to them would not work well for me.

I had to reinstall most of my software that I downloaded (I had backup URLs and stuff saved to a TiddlyWiki file, so that was no trouble, just time-wasting), including FF and all extensions, DonationCoder apps, etc.
Then when I tried to use my Cruzer Mini 2GB stick, it wouldn't pick up.
And my wireless mouse was not working either. I checked both the mouse and USB stick on my XP desktop, and they are fine.

My question:
1. my wife mentioned she read some article about Vista PCs worldwide suffering Windows Update errors ... ya think this affected mine?
2. how can I get my cruzer mini and mouse to work again?

Who would this be aimed at?
Parents? Employers?

Be forewarned, that you run the risk of having a mirror image of someone elses site if you choose to use TemplateMonster, or some similar service. Unless you pay their outrageous fees of a couple thousand dollars to be unique.

This is why I favor the idea of creating some graphic and having it xhtmlized + cssized :)
Unique!

But then again, everyone has their preferred methods, so, to each his/her own.
Best of luck to you!

121
Dangmit Mouser! I was gonna mention GetRichSlowly.org lol
I learned a new one today, thanks momonan for debtproofliving.

Here's a unique method!
http://www.johnchow.com/
Start your own blog. I haven't done so yet, but I love to write, and as much time as I spend on the computer, I'd rather be making more money doing something sooo simple.

122
... The problem I have with CMS systems like Joomla and Drupal, for a novice's, is you end up with a very CMS looking website which IMO doesn't look too good and not unique in any way ...
Which is why I highly recommend ExpressionEngine. I've used the free Core version for a few personal sites, and the paid version ($99) for my own site. Truly awesome capabilities.
Check out their showcase.
I love how 'un-bloggy' most EE sites are! A heck of a learning curve though.

And if you, or a friend, are graphically motivated enough, try one of these services.
You supply them with a graphical layout of what your site should look like, and they code the xhtml/css. I haven't used one of them yet, but plan to for my next site revision.

For hosting, everyone seems to like DreamHost (mentioned above), I've used Site5 for many years now.

Living Room / Re: these new cheap core 2 due laptops - any good?
« on: November 06, 2007, 01:56 AM »
jammo - out of curiosity, did Gateway ever quote you a price on XP, or did they say it wasn't supported and leave it at that? I lust after a new notebook but not Vista...
The rep just told me it was not supported, not recommended. He left it like that.
Imma try and call again this week. I figure if it's a few hundred dollars, it's well worth it - Vista is starting to bother me.

General Software Discussion / Re: Equivalent to Foldershare?
« on: November 06, 2007, 01:16 AM »
Yeah, I'm looking for a way to sync files tween two computers also.
I found FolderShare via http://lifehacker.co...ldershare-137571.php

I also don't want to use it due to the MS ownership now.
Hopefully, some other DonationCoders come to our rescue.

I figure the best thing i can do right now, is to create a new partition, image the current drive, and back things up.
then if XP really wont fly on here, at least i know i tried, right?!
id just need to backup these drivers, hope they work with XP.
