One last note...
Thanks for all of the information, much appreciated.

Try weebly or wix or any one of the alternatives.
I appreciate the help, thanks!

4  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Best method for a dead simple web site? on: May 12, 2013, 11:22:25 AM
Apologies in advance as  I know there are numerous topics that contain pieces of information about this subject. My problem is too much information, not too little. I wonder if some of you can help me to cut through the clutter.

My wife is an artist who needs a web site on which to display her work.

She is wilfully computer illiterate.

She has a web site that I put together. It's (I'm) just not good enough.

I need to set up (or have set up for me) something that allows the very easiest point and drag method for her to:
  • Add pages, and add images to those pages
  • Replace existing items on pages
  • Label items with appropriate titles and descriptions (probably multi-line text)
  • Possibly re-arrange items on any given page.
  • Have visitors move easily between pages.
  • Have some method whereby thumbnails will enlarge for greater detail.

I can do this with the site that I created but my wife can't, so we're going to start again.

This has to be easy enough for a five-year-old to manage as I might be required to use it myself.

The task should be as easy as falling off a log but, no matter how hard I throw myself at the ground, I haven't reached it yet.

So, please, what's my best option?

Maybe they figure the change of location will provide a lift for the conference participants.
They're pretty wired up already.

I've heard of sloping off from the office but that's taking it too far!
8  Main Area and Open Discussion / Living Room / Re: Adobe drops the gauntlet - going forward it's cloud - or nothing. on: May 07, 2013, 10:16:33 PM

If I have it right (of which there is always considerable doubt) there are to be numerous updates to the cloud version and none to the boxed version. Quite a slap in the face for those of us who paid already to license some of the more-expensive consumer software on the market.

I'm with Carol, one of the things that has kept me close to Windows has been Adobe graphics software.

I was looking aghast at the El Reg article earlier.

If that Adobe policy is solid, it hurts. Like many others I have thousands invested in Creative Suite, don't want to use the cloud for sensitive material, and couldn't even if I wished.

That said, when Adobe started the subscription thing a year or so ago the sky-writing was on the cloud.

I'm fed up with Steam--it's coming out of my ears.

The idea of buying a game from the local store and then having to wait the better part of a week in order to play it seems preposterous.

OTOH, I've had some good bargains from them.

FWIW, to me the absence of ads implied a level of integrity at DC that just cannot be matched when there are 'bad' ads, 'good' ads, or any ads at all.

It takes a long time to establish a good reputation but very little time to lose it.

That works fine.
Just the frame shows up under "Frames\" in the main UI…
Clicking that applies frame and mask.

what if you trigger the handsholding2 FRAME -- does it then apply the mask properly?
FWIW, it does for me.
Both the frame and the mask appear in my frames panel. If I click the frame it applies the mask.

(I also have a frame and a mask for some balls. If I use that it brings a masked balls up.)

If I try to use it, I get the "frame" part working, but the mask part does not, and SSC pops up "Access violation at address 00723F54 in module 'ScreenshotCaptor.exe'. Read of address 00000000."

Do other people get this effect?

Yes, exactly the same thing (win7-64)

Latest beta does exactly what I requested.

So, using Firefox, by entering "Cranio is as dumb as a bag of hammers" in the post-capture dialogue box (should be a standard entry for my copy)
and setting the Default Comment box to be:
b-b%description%
b%scrapetext%
%customdate%
(wherein, for this post, "b" represents a space)
I get an image named
"Cranio is as dumb as a bag of hammers - Firefox Apr 2013.png"

Thank you!

23  DonationCoder.com Software / Screenshot Captor / Re: 4.02 beta is up on: April 15, 2013, 08:59:44 PM
Thanks for the character replacement option.
In the attached example I'm set up to append Firefox and Apr 2013 to the file name.

In the file naming template I have name as %filememo%
and comment as
%description%
%scrapetext%
%customdate%

in Automatic Captions I have %description% %customdate% %browserurl%

Previously, if I entered Post Pop Up Working Fine in the post-capture comment field I'd have had Post_Pop_Up_Working_fine as the first part of the file name. Now, I elected to use a space, so that's great for the Post Pop Up Working Fine part but it's not extending to cover the _Firefox__Apr 2013 part (my custom date is %b %Y, btw).

Also, it would be a cherry on top of the icing on the cake if multiple consecutive char replacements could be condensed into just a single item (see the double underscore between Firefox and Apr).

So, in my example I'd like no underscores at all in the file name and only single spaces.
At the moment, the final file name is
Post Pop Up Working Fine_Firefox__Apr 2013.png
I'd prefer to see
Post Pop Up Working Fine Firefox Apr 2013.png

25  DonationCoder.com Software / Screenshot Captor / Re: Question about post-capture file naming on: March 30, 2013, 12:58:08 AM
yeah i think the solution is to let people have some control over the filename from the postcapture dialog, so ill put that at the top of my todo list.  that should let you do what you want.
Thmbsup Much appreciated! If you are able to implement that it would mean for me that I could have a matching and meaningful file name and caption by typing only a single word (such as "bachelor").
