Thanks for the on-going hard work of gathering discounts for the rest of us.

What's the story on FD-ISR?  I bought it (influenced by your recommendation) a while back and then, like you and others, received Raxco's "we're dropping this" message.

The singer spoke about how he had been bullied in his youth and hoped that his story would serve as a "source of inspiration" to victims of bullying.

I'm not so sure about opera, but I seem to recall that some of the bullying I experienced caused me to sing falsetto for a while!

I'll be travelling in Europe for five weeks
Off topic but...have a good trip!

I use Spyware Doctor.  Has anyone noticed it introducing 'random' keystrokes into other applications?

You're assuming we use cookies...

Thanks, everyone, for your kind remarks. We're pleased with the result.
It's our good fortune to live in pleasant countryside, so the views from either end of the studio are quite appealing. I was tempted, briefly, to take the space for my own use but my artist wife's need for good light made this room the natural choice for her. The window end (east) is where most of the creativity will occur. The door end (west) has a couch and a rug so my wife can sit comfortably and sketch or plan future works, or simply think about her ideas.
As with most projects, there were a few unexpected things that required a bit of ingenuity to make right.

for the sake of completeness: It is an ATI card, Saphire Radeon 9600 XT
Mine's a Sapphire also.  It's a recent purchase, so a recent driver.
If you run XP, I see there's a new ATI driver out that's even newer...worth a try?

OGroeger: Hm, looks nice but doesn't work on my workstation:

FWIW, runs okay here (Radeon X1950)

Looks as if it's completed-project month.  We just finished a new studio for my wife, finally utilizing some previously empty space.
The workstations are mobile and, on the side opposite the drawers, each one has concealed shelves for books, fabric, and art supplies.
We started this in February, so it's a relief that it's finished.

Darwin:  Papers... I'm well into all of the books
Happy reading everyone!

I wouldn't understand some of the material on your list but I hope to climb to that level some day...I tried "The Three Little Pigs" but my finger kept moving off the line, so I had to give up.

This week my stuff's mostly fluff
Lee Child "Bad Luck And Trouble"
John Sandford "Invisible Prey"
Michael Connelly "The Overlook"
(and a bunch of corporate background/strategy papers)

Nice looking job!
Now, moving on, would you like my plans for a feather duster?

I was able to get it back up and running in about thirty minutes with pieces from my garage.
Shame about the car, though.

General Software Discussion / Re: "Files NOT Used" utility
« on: May 16, 2007, 08:35 PM »
Hey Farmsteader,
Your post has created some interest for me.  I decided to poke around on my main machine.
I used Locate for this. Here are a few findings:
On my system I have 14747 files modified prior to May 1997
Many of these would cause me problems if they went missing...much of my Tex/Latex installation, for example,
not to mention the Adobe Font Folio that I keep on line.
I did find the amount that I paid for one of my HDDs in 1989
9Gig seagate SCSI drive         11ms 1MB cache     -------------- $3,070.00
At the same time 64MB RAM cost me $2,800... Ouch!

I still ned the utility to find them... any leads?
I think justice has a very good solution for you.   Take the output and use your favourite editor to make a script/batch file to move out what you dare.  Carol's right to urge caution, you could be in for a lot of pain.  Happy hunting :)

I'm delighted to be a recipient of Super Flexible File Synchronizer Professional.
At the moment I can't synchronize my left brain with my right, let alone a whole bunch of files.
SFFS to the rescue with the latter.  I'll post a coding-snack request for the former!

I think I'd be inclined to move old files to a specific backup rather than just deleting them.  It doesn't happen often compared to regular file access, but I've certainly had the need to dig out fles that were untouched for a lot longer than 180 days.  Why not dump them to DVD along with path information?

4518
i hope they don't have to release another removal tool to remove this one..
I've heard rumours about a new Norton product that's in the works, designed to get rid of some of its bloat.  It's going to be called Norton Liposuction.  Apparently it won't work on NTFS though, only FAT.

That's very decent of you, Carl.  Thanks very much for assuming that role!

Squirrels.
It goes like this...

Squirrel is raiding the bird feeder on deck the at the rear of our house, 20 feet up.
German shepherd goes out the front door, round the side of the house, into the back yard, running at full stretch.
Wire-haired fox terrier goes out the back door onto the deck about 30 seconds later.
Squirrel takes flying leap from the deck, to avoid the terrier.
Shepherd, now ideally placed below the deck to behead flying squirrel, misses...every time.
Both dogs rampage around the property trying to appear efficient.
Squirrel sits in nearest tree, laughing.

Darwin: hang on, the government of Canada is trying to get at my money so that it can fund running the country and provide services that benefit myself and my fellow citizens and I'm trying to get off with paying as litlle... does this make me a hypocrite?!

Just remind yourself that paying taxes is a privilege.  :)

It's easy to complain about high prices and monopolistic practices.  There's more than one side to the issue, though.

Because I live where I do I have to buy 'high-speed' internet via satellite for about 6 times the rate of faster, more reliable service in the nearest town.  I don't enjoy paying that but nobody makes me.  If I want it, that's what it costs.

Microsoft doesn't make me use its software, nor does Adobe.  I don't enjoy paying for it and I'd probably find alternatives were it only for private use.
If certain clients require certain formats, however, then it's just part of the cost of doing business.  The software helps me to earn more.

OTOH I did hold a virtual monopoly in my field for quite some time and I was neither slow to exploit that nor remorseful about doing so.  How, then, can I complain if others do the same?

We will return to our normal two per month in may with new discounts, so don't fret
Too late, I done fret already!
