Google Boomerang / Re: Any chance for a Translator Boomerang update?
« on: December 17, 2013, 12:23 PM »
I was just playing around with TB some more...  It occurs to me that different languages yield different incorrect characters.  This suggests to me that I need to have the correct fonts loaded onto my computer....  Will try and report back.

(Also, I still don't know why Translator B. Working at all, given the Google API issue.  Perhaps Mouser can chime in.)

Yea, I read something about that...  But TB seems to still be able to translate (?)
The above image was captured just today.

Hi Mouser,

I hope all is well.  I was hoping there might be a chance for a feature request RE Translator Boomerang...
In addition to the humor-factor involved with boomeranging translations, this tool also helps me create phrases that are likely to translate correctly.  (i.e. if the bommeranged phrase still makes sense, then the translated version of it is more likely to make sense.  I get the translated version from the "Debug Info" tab.  As shown in the image below, some of the Spanish characters are not correct.  Can this be fixed?  Or maybe I can fix it via my computer font settings??  IDK.

Thoughts?
Thanks.

What's that ??
You say the next version of ScreenshotCaptor will have full integration of OCR with its scanning technology?

I've used Visipics for comparing small images (homemade icons).  It's okay.

AkelPad is a nice minimalist one...  It has lots of different plugins though.

Not sure why it's giving different images...
Have you tried a global search for "netcenter*" though?  Presumably there is a netcenter.dll or netcenter.exe someplace in the system folder...

If it's in a DLL, notice that http://www.nirsoft.n.../utils/iconsext.html retains the name of the DLL (and gives it to the icons).

But if it's a shortcut you created, can you just right-click it, >Properties >Customize?

EDIT:  Sorry I just reread and saw that it's a Windows 7 system thing, so right-clicking might not work.  YOu still could bulk extract all the icons from your system dlls (it would take all day), then find the icon and thus the name of the dll.  (maybe....   I'm not a programer)

I think .vbs (VB Script) files are native to Windows, but I'm sure that even that would be treated as a "rouge script."  (not a %100 sure.  not a programer.)

Okay, also working fine here...  I downloaded the latest beta (also 4030) and got rid of the dot "maskpng."

Oddly, the older versions of the masks (kunkelhands and holdingcircle) have worked throughout all of the above tests--and still do work.   All three of the frame/mask combos pictured below are currently working; but notice that the naming conventions are different.

Weird -eh?

Using v 4030, putting "handsholding2.png" and "handsholding2.png.mask.png" in a subfolder of the frames folder does seemed to have worked.

Will try the next beta now...

(Dare I suggest that Crainioscopical share his balls?)

I must be doing something wrong...
v4.03.0

Adding the extra .png to the end just causes SSC to treat the mask as a frame...

Here's my dir

Okay I should probably know this already....
Is there an "official beta download" location?

I'm guessing that it's not this one
https://www.donation...hotcaptor/index.html

Is in embedded someplace in the Latest Version Info Thread?

Can Mouser, or somebody please try this updated version, "handsholding2?"

It's the same image, I just tried to fix the mask in the top-left, and tried to make the shadow a little better...

The dimensions and color-depth (between handsolding2.png and handsholding2.png.mask) are the same, so I think it should work...
The compression ratio appears to be different though.  Not sure if that matters.

If I try to use it, I get the "frame" part working, but the mask part does not, and SSC pops up "Access violation at address 00723F54 in module 'ScreenshotCaptor.exe'. Read of address 00000000."

Do other people get this effect?
==========
EDIT:   Mouser's installation instructions from his above download are:
"Copy both of these files to your ScreenshotCaptor\Frames directory, then use the Frame tool to apply it.
(Hit rescan directories from Frame Tool panel if you copy files while SC is running)."

Some demon hands would be good.  Or zombie hands.
I guess robot hands would probably be more "computerish" though...

This is mostly true only for web-based stuff--yes?

My work computer has some installed-onto-the-c-drive, non-networked utilities that still have "admin" as the login.

Also fyi they are actually not "my" hands...  They belong to google images.   :P
The offer presented here

still stands.
RE Hand model photographer volunteers....   :)

EDIT:
Looks like the file formats and naming are the same...  I think the only difference is that Mouser made it so they don't have to be put in different sub-directories...    Here is the "Holding Circle" one from the other thread...

Thanks Mouser!
Sorry for not replying sooner....  I haven't tinkered with frames since many versions ago, and just haven't had time to experiment...
Mouser's new set up does seem to work.

Looks like the mask needs to be shaved a bit on the top/left.  I'll see if I can find the original images and clean things up.  Also, I never really did like the shadows I made.

Good tip.
Doesn't always work, but it appears to on this giveaway.
On weekends GAOTD has a free game too (see link in upper-right).  Sometimes the tip works on the games as well.

RE this particular giveaway....  I'm not sure I'd call it an "editor."  Many so called editors don't actually *change* the pdf in any way...  They just add to it.  Even the eraser function doesn't change the pdf--it just paints virtual whiteout over parts of the document.
