I've used ABBYY lots of times.   It's decent.  I finally got myself a copy of Acrobat XI  which has built in OCR.  Otherwise I'd still be using the ABBYY one.  fyi the ABBYY people have a product called PDF Transformer.  Every once in a while it appears as a freebie on the internets.  Has the same engines as the screenshot reader, I'm sure.

202
Good to know.  My thot was to assign it as a "quick formatting" option in CHS.   PsPad works too though.  Thanks for the reply.

Hi Mouser,
I hope all is well with you.  I haven't had a chance to tinker with advanced CHS stuff in a while.  (Though CHS and SSC both get used A LOT on my work puter).

Anyhow, Am tinkering now...  I'm not sure if this is even feasible, but I'd love if, from the "Modify Case/Tools" and/or the Main Window text edit area, I could select a rectangular portion of text (i.e. the same columns across multiple congruent rows...)

Here's a screenshot from Word...  It you hold down <Alt> and click-n-drag with the mouse, you get the following:

My overall goal is to get from "before" to "after" as in the image below:

If I copy the column of numbers, CHS will "Prefix" and "Suffix" the parts perfectly, but unfortunately MS Word won't let you paste into a rectangular selection...  If CHS were to handle this, I could copy the whole table from Word, do my thing, then paste it back in...

Thots?

204
Agreed.  I've never regretted buying XY pro.

205
Hell yes, +1.  The only reason I keep SnagIt installed is for the "Text Grab" feature in v10.
If CHS had OCR capabilities, it would blow that out of the water!

206
Different "instance" in each tab, so if one crashes, they don't all crash.

While this probably is good programming, it has tons of features and settings that I don't need, and OTOH it is not able to simply show a no frills popup next to its own tray icon, but instead puts its window all over the place on my triple monitors  :(
I'm never really sure why, but I find sometimes certain clipboard managers give me problems, such as freezing, etc.  I have lots of 3rd party utilities running in the background, so I assume there's sometimes a conflict.  ArsClip was one of these.  Ditto too.  I'm not a programmer, but I'm guessing that lots of features = increased possibility of conflicting with other things.  The "simplest" yet stable ones I've seen are ClipX and CLCL.  I use the "stacking" feature of CHS though, and despite it's many features, it hasn't given me too many troubles..   Now if I can just get Mouser to trim down the quick popup list.   :P

208
Though long abandoned, ClipX is a good light one.

Edit:  FWIW, Mouser's CHS actually IS the one I've been using for a couple of years now.  I would not be using it if I felt it was bloated.

209
Yea, I also make use of Tables...
I have a dashboard type of thing though that pulls from a Table, and also allows independent lookups of individual people...

There's about 1200 people in my list, so I was getting tired of scrolling the whole list.

I don't think it's possible to use Regex in formulas (only in VBA).  You can use wildcards * ? in some though.

210
Nobody at home or work will appreciate this thing I did.
I'll just leave it here.   :D

Excel file attached...
EDIT:  There's not macros...  And guaranteed no maljunk. :)

gSyncit does look pretty cool.

Another option worth mentioning is Pimlical.
http://www.pimlicosoftware.com/
It's a Java based app. Very capable.
There's an Android version too, though--frustratingly--it don't sync well with the Kindle Fire HD.

It has a feature-rich sync ability for Google Calendar.
And the proceeds go to a Gorilla Conservation effort.

I always wondered about that!   ;D

You mean like Replicators from Star Gate? :D
Yep.  That's where I was headed!

215
Hopefully they can combine this new technology with those self-replicating 3D printers...   :P

216
I think they're all parabolas, yes?  Check Wikipedia.

@CyberDiva:  Thanks for the WebDav tip.  I actually do remember reading about that in the Pimlical FAQs.  The office location I've had for the last two years doesn't have wifi  >:( so WebDav was not an option.  Looks like I'm getting moved to a more "modern" space, with wifi, though.  So in the Fall I might revisit WebDav.

Also I should add to my previous post--in case any Kindle Fire HD users read this--I actually rooted my device once.  Rooting voids the one-year warranty, so it is not advised.  I had assumed that this would allow Java to detect the KFHD, so I did it anyway, but it does NOT!  Rooting a Kindle makes no difference in this regard.  However rooting does give you access to the Google Play store which is pretty cool.  I was rooted for four or five months, then Amazon updated the Kindle OS, and the root got wiped.  I haven't gotten around to re-rooting.

218
I've been using DocsToGo (DataViz) with my Kindle Fire HD.  Works fine.
The KFHD does have some MAJOR annoyances regarding file transfer.  My fave calendar app is Pimlical.  There is a Java PC version, and an Android version.  The Android version does work on the Kindle, but apparently the Kindle is totally invisible to Java (and many other Windows apps) so I cannot use the sync utility...

219
Also checkout a free Excel addin called ASAP-Utilities.  It lets you transpose like that.

EDIT:  Yea, I guess ASAP won't do that.

Fooie.

I ran in to the same problem as Tomos...
Does anyone know if there is a workaround for this?

As Miles says, share some specific download links, so we can try it on our systems....

I wonder, are you saving them as .JPEG?  Try saving as .png and see if it still happens.  (I'm not an expert, but I think jpeg will "compress" your picture, whereas png is "lossless.")

222
Excellent!  Thanks for the reply.  Unchecking the "Switch to..." did the trick.  And yes, it is remembering my settings...  I'm not sure what my problem was before (?)  Just losing it I guess.   :P

Regarding number 3. Quick Typing:  It occurs to me that I can press <Tab><Tab><Tab><Tab><Tab><Tab><Tab><Tab> and the text entry box will be highlighted...   Maybe you can just change the z-order so the text box gets highlighted first??

Here's another feature idea:  Microsoft Excel has an "auto fill" feature.    If you type
1.
then click-n-drag, you get
1.
2.
3.
4.
Automatically inserted.

It would be clever if I could make a callout and type a "1." in it, then if I keep adding callouts, the numbers increment.

You could even have an .ini file to define lists of series to use....   Such as
A,B,C,D,E,F,G, etc
I,II,III,IV,V,VI,VII,etc

Just a thot.   ;)

Hi Mouser,  I hope all is well.  Sorry I haven't been on the forums much lately...  "Life" has been keeping me pretty busy.

Here are a couple feature request / ideas for Screenshot Captor.  (or maybe these are already possible?)

1.  Set default style for Arrows / Callouts:  I don't really care for the bulky red.  I'd rather If mine defaulted to a slim gray or black with smaller font in the textbox...

2. Repeating:  It would be nice if "Arrow Mode" was sticky.   i.e. So I can do multiple arrows or callouts without having to click the Arrow Icon on the Toolbar each time.  (Maybe SSC could stay in Arrow Mode until I either choose another tool, or press Esc?)

3. Quick Typing:  It would be nice if I could click-n-drag to create the arrow, then immediately start typing text to add a callout window to the arrow.  (i.e. So I don't have to click in the "Edit Arrow Text" text box each time...  The box should automatically become active after creating an arrow.)

So the work flow for creating three callouts would be:
   Press Arrow Tool Icon...
   Click-n-drag...
   Type the text...
   Click-n-drag...
   Type the text...
   Click-n-drag...
   Type the text...
   Press Esc.

Thanks for considering these :)

Google Boomerang / Re: Any chance for a Translator Boomerang update?
« on: December 18, 2013, 02:47 PM »
i don't use google API, i fetch a normal web page query and parse the results.
Good on You!  Whether foresight, or plain old luck, TB survived where most (all?) fell into obscurity.  Not just Fried Bablefish...  There are several others out there that no longer work...
====
So I've been looking into the subject of getting Spanish characters to display correctly...  I think what needs to happen, is for you (Mouser) to let the user define which font should be used by TB.  Or rather what font get's displayed in the Debug Raw window.  Unfortunately, it occurs to me that any particular font will probably work for some languages, but not others.  Maybe the solution is to allow different fonts for be bound to different languages (?)  I dunno.

Would also be nice if the Spanish version of the text could be included in the main output window.

Maybe like:

---------------------------------------------
This is the text I type or paste into TB.
=================================
Este es el texto que escribir o pegar en la tuberculosis.
=================================
This is the text you type or paste in tuberculosis.

--------------------------------------------

(p.s. LOL RE the above results)
