What are drive image backups doing staying on the PC itself?

It is because it's main marketer had no interest in seeing anything but its own logo on their devices, extrapolate that way of thinking into other business decisions and Macs are exactly what he wanted.

You need to try Easy Screencast Recorder http://www.donationcoder....are/Mouser/esr/index.html, though it's not really meant for that task, I think

Thanks Jibz, Deozaan and everybody. Setting aside all other concerns (privacy, new notebooks, owning data etc.) I can confirm what Deozaan sees, so as long as the aforementioned concerns are acceptable this is a very good tool for notes on the go.

Still haven't seen any restriction so still confused by the original comment.... like I said it may be I have no clue smiley

Just synced my desktop notebook to Android and everything is there, I guess that's obvious.  Are they only stored in the cloud only, so this new OneNote won't function if the device(s) are offline (eventhough existing notebooks are synced pre-going offline)?

Yes, I definitely sound like I need an Internet 101 course Grin

Not trying to be funny, but I don't get it. No offline notes at all or only in certain cases (created on PC?) it won't be available offline? Colour me confused  embarassed

Not one bit. Kickstarter should not be about established corporations, even though strictly speaking it wasn't them that started this campaign ... actress wanted the movie, etc.

87  Main Area and Open Discussion / Living Room / Re: Facebook likes? How? on: March 12, 2014, 09:58:38 AM
Thanks. A bit doubtful facebook apps are responsible, I had around a dozen and all except one were big, active company ones (contest entry, etc) and zero games. I removed most just in case. Will use Ghostery.
88  Main Area and Open Discussion / Living Room / Facebook likes? How? on: March 11, 2014, 07:53:49 PM
Over the last few days I began to notice that the Likes section in my facebook has likes that I didn't like, so to speak. I began to worry that my computer is compromised. I have checked every device* including android phone that I have with one or more of Malwarebytes, Avast and ESET online scanner. After seeing that they are clean (hoping so after using the aforementioned tools) I used the Linux machine to change my facebook password and made sure that I am logged out of Facebook everywhere. One day after doing that I log in again and noticed one of such likes again. After a bit of googling I guess I could have visited a comprised site, iframe hack(?), during that one day but I was logged out of Facebook for that day.

 huh

Any thoughts?

*Except the Linux Mint laptop

Yes I have. I meant you can't escape giving your real name if you own Android.
93  Main Area and Open Discussion / Living Room / Re: YouTube finally forces creation of google+ A/C to comment on: February 27, 2014, 12:59:31 PM
If you own an Android you don't have to have given your name in the sense that you do when signing up for gmail or other service ... they have it and will use it

Look at it this way. Think Android phones but for Windows .... Desktop is rooted and metro is stock  tongue

"Destroyed" Grin

It is still the mainstream form of computing and will be for a long time. Macs still, yes still, occupy a small section of where most people go to buy computers and most people don't associate the Apple store with computers but with "gadgets".
97  Main Area and Open Discussion / Living Room / Re: Security breach at Kickstarter on: February 15, 2014, 10:02:58 PM
Thanks for posting this.

I have a serious (may be dumb) question. We often hear about credit card/password info was not breached. what about sites like this that ask for name and address (to ship stuff). Isn't name and address (as a combo) may be even more valuable than a card that can be cancelled and/or has zero liability if used maliciously?

Google Plus, the company’s social network, is like a ghost town

First sentence being false makes me not want to read the rest. I have only ~200 friends and member of a handful of communities and there is lots going on.

Also, even if ignoring my previous sentence .... it may not be as big as facebook but nothing is.
99  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: Continuing with XP on: February 06, 2014, 01:37:38 PM
Don't stay with XP on the basis that 'I am confident I can remain safe', I wouldn't recommend this course of action.
Even with fully patched systems (via MS and via thrid parties) malware gets through, without them ... just don't try.

There is more to MBAM than free and pro (which has always been 1 pc lifetime)? (for non-business users)

Never seen anything beside the 2...
