Hamradio,

Is there a setting which can be changed so I can direct where I want the web page png file saved?

Ex. in FF under Options > Downloads I have it set to always ask me where I want the file to be saved.

I didn't see in the web developer toolbar or options where I could set it to prompt me where I wanted a web page captured as a png to be saved.

Does it have that flexibility?

Thanks so much.

Switch to the other setting for options > downloads change the directory to the one you want, then switch back to always ask.  See if that will work for you as it should keep the directory you pick there even tho you switch it back to always ask.  Let us know if that works. smiley

Hey Hamradio,

You're a genius!!

I just followed your suggestion - screenshot --fullpage and sure enough it copied the whole page and saved it.

Do you know of any way to tell FF which folder to save the png file in?

Or does it have to save it to a particular folder every time?

Thanks you ever so very much!!

For my system I have a drive I and was able to do I:test.png and it saved it to my drive I.

You can also just do:

screenshot --fullpage

It will format the name like...

Hey Hamradio,

I think you're on to something!

In my FF version 24 I can select Tools>Web Developer>Developer Toolbar (you're correct it is also Shift/F2).

I've never used this function so I kinda' get lost after that.

There's a command-type prompt which appears at the bottom of the screen with all sorts of things.

I'm not sure what my next step is after laughing the developer toolbar?

I'm not clear on how to get to screenshot yourfilename.png --fullpage?

I'm also not sure how to ...screenshot --clipboard --fullpage?

I can press the PrntScreen button on my keyboard but I don't think that will grab the whole webpage as I scroll down, or can it?

Also, how do I reach ...help screenshot?

Thank you ever so much!

You just click inside the little tiny bar that appears at bottom and type out the lines I showed and if doing the yourfilename.png one you would put what you want where yourfilename is. smiley

If you are just going to capture web pages...

If you can find the developer toolbar in Firefox I believe you can do something like...
Note: In Firefox 29 Beta you can press Shift + F2 to open it and it may be the same in older versions, but I am unsure.

screenshot yourfilename.png --fullpage

I believe the screenshot will go into your downloads folder. (Note: The file will only be saved as a png file.)

You can also just copy it to clipboard for pasting in paint or other application...

screenshot --clipboard --fullpage

For further help on options for screenshot you would use:

help screenshot

No addon needed I believe for that one.

Okay try re-downloading the beta from the location mentioned before and let me know what you think. I am still debating on how I am displaying it at the moment, so thoughts would be nice. Seems I cant get it to follow the mouse though atm. It will appear near where the mouse first enters the dropzone though. Thmbsup

Your very welcome.  Will have another beta with it soon for your testing as that was next on the my list once I made sure it was working for you as well. smiley

Feature Request:

Open with dialog should only appear when I hover the file for more than two second, otherwise it should open by default application.

I hope it will help everyone.

Thanks

I think that would be not possible to do, since it does not run in the background monitoring everything launched if you are sending it directly to the main launcher.

However if you are using the drop zone for it (which basically just redirects the dropped filename to the main launcher at this time)...I might be able to do something to make it launch the first program that it finds from the list you added of programs that can handle the extension.

Exactly, sorry for the ambiguity. Actually asked for:

trigger                                                                     Action
----------                                                                  ----------
dropping a file without any time delay                        open it with first program suitable for dropped files extension
hovering a file over drop zone, and then dropping it    show open with dialog of pew

I hope it clears the doubt.

Will take a look at it.

Backup your pew files, then goto... http://carrolld.dcmembers.com/pew/ and download the one with beta in the filename and try it.

Right click the pew dropzone and choose "Delayed Open With".

Please report back on any bugs or if it is doing okay in your testing.  It is a beta version and might be a little buggy atm.

I always thought that was so it would have a space before the smiley after a sentence/word, but I am not sure if that's the official reason.

But the effect(s) won't be perfect if you want to just save it as a jpg, then have to go into another tool to crop/resize...cause it will lose more pixel data in a 2nd wave of compression.

Normally you'd save it in a non-lossy format if you're switching between programs, eg. TIFF.

Indeed.
15  Other Software / Found Deals and Discounts / Re: Perfect Effects 8 Premium Edition *FREE* (again) for a limited time on: February 17, 2014, 10:14:45 PM
Well, it does say Perfect Effects - I would have put cropping/resizing under basic editing not an effect as such.  smiley

*Updated image in OP to show Limited Time Offer.

16  Other Software / Found Deals and Discounts / Re: Perfect Effects 8 Premium Edition *FREE* (again) for a limited time on: February 17, 2014, 05:41:22 PM
Would be nice if it at least had some basic resizing/crop in it, but I guess they want to charge you for that with Perfect Photo Suite...

As if you was gonna edit a photo in it atm it appears to me that you would have to save it to a lossless format then resize/crop in another program before saving as a jpg.  Thats the only downside I see to that program if you want to use it as a standalone effects program.

Note: At least I could not find a resize/crop in it.

I don't like writing negative articles that don't include a solution to the problem, but in this case, there is no solution. The state of in-app purchases has now reached a level where we have completely lost it. Not only has the gaming industry shot itself in the foot, hacked off their other foot, and lost both its arms ... but it's still engaging in a strategy that will only damage it further.

Well since everything I have did so far seems stable for me on my system here the release is a few days earlier than planned...

Release Notes:

Minimize to tray and copy data to the clipboard has been added. Finally, a few tweaks were made and a couple minor bugs fixed.

Let me know of any bugs you might find and such... smiley

- Maybe you could make the text copyable because then you can make notes, send it in an email, and the whole shebang.
- Add a Minimize to the Tray

I can confirm that both of those will be in a release that should happen in the next week or so. smiley

My husband is going to love this!  He's a weather nut and loves to see what's going on everywhere.  Thank you!

Your very welcome! smiley

The National Weather Service which states...
"...across the United States and US Territories..."
and I am unsure if those territories use state or province so I just did State/Province.
I do not think there are such things as 'provinces' within the United States of America or its Territories - the only 'provinces' I know of, within North America, are those of the country Canada ... I am sure none of the canadian 'provinces' would like to be considered 'US Territories'.  embarassed

But, you have not answered my second question "From where are your getting the weather data (it appears you might be getting some of the information from the local METAR stations)?"

If you are using the data provided by the local METAR stations (through the National Weather Service), then, you could possibly add the of 10 canadian provinces and 3 territories to the list of USA states and territories ... to make the Weather Station Warlock a truly north american weather information utility.  Wink

Ray.

It is using xml from the nws @ http://w1.weather.gov/xml/current_obs/seek.php which does stuff a little different than what I have been able to find on the Canada weather service pages.

However I may look into it more in the future as time permits.

Note: Slight version increase to fix the wording of a couple controls in the find stations dialog.

Just curious...  Wink

Why are you presenting us with a choice of 'State/Province' when there is no province in the list of options - I am in Canada, more precisely in beautiful British Columbia...  Cool

From where exactly are your getting the weather information (it appears you might be getting some of the information from the local METAR stations)?

Ray.

The National Weather Service which states...

"...across the United States and US Territories..."

and I am unsure if those territories use state or province so I just did State/Province.

That's my logic to it.  If you can clarify for sure if they do not use province I will change it.

Hi Ham Radio,

Some thoughts:

- Currently when I close it, the stations are lost. What if you made some feature where your stations are saved?
- Maybe you could make the text copyable because then you can make notes, send it in an email, and the whole shebang.
- Add a Minimize to the Tray
- This could be the counterpart to Skwire's sWeather. A buddy of mine is a Flight Attendant, so he always wants to know the weather here. So between the two, I can do a quick forecast and give your detailed warlock data of "current conditions".

1. It does as mouser said in his post for saving as soon as the find stations dialog is closed with the finished button it should save the stations list and refresh all data as well.
2+3. Perhaps soon.

Released a bugfix update. (Thanks silat for finding the bug.) smiley

Also the bonus download should now be active...

RECOMMENDED UPDATE:

A unhandled exception which might occur on the downloading of data for some stations should be fixed now.
