Just another SC user and my understanding is the accept button closes the preferences saving the changes and apply saves them, but keeps the preferences open. smiley

I've put together a composite image based on the parts of the two programs that I use and leaving out others, based on a single window.
I think the image will explain what I have in mind but if there is anything you want clarification on let me know.
I have shown the 'Blend' window because the 'Basic' and 'Screen' sections remain unchanged.
 (see attachment in previous post)

Which of those in the composite image besides the obvious do you use (i.e buttons and/or menu items)?

Actually here...The file menu in this one is disabled, but heres the latest...You can use Ctrl + A when the list is focused to select all. You may also just select the ones you need to copy out and it will only copy out the selected items into a list of your choosing.  You should be able to mix and match color styles input either/or and get the other on the copy.

There's no urgency whatsoever, for one thing it's not something I use every day, for another I can easily work with what I've got, a lot easier than when I started this thread.

I will put my ideas together into a reasonably coherent form and post the results for you to look at as and when.

Best wishes for a speedy and positive outcome to the health issue.

Pilgrim.

I've been doing a few things to it already that I think has helped and resize vertically is in there. Anyways got your ideas together? cheesy

@hamradio: thank you for responding. I actually am aware of your program, courtesy of dotTech. And while it might work for files, I didn't see how to make it work for links. And its links, especially in my email program, that cause the most problems. There I want to add to the existing right-click function the names of my 2 browsers, such that I can choose to open the linked file in either browser. Am I missing something?

No problem and that may be a feature I try to add at some point where you can use it with normal links as well.  smiley

Might take a look at Portable Extension Warlock made by me to see if it can do what you want currently. smiley

You can use the dropzone with it and just drag a file to it to send it to the portable extension warlock launcher which checks the info with your launch configuration and if it is only extension it launches it in it or if their is multiple extensions specified you can choose which to launch it with.

I have not had the time to sort all my thoughts out yet but when the possibility of modifying the Color Warlock program was made I realised it could not only create a gradient but replace one or more other programs I use in making them.
For instance, it has a colour picker built in, which would save me opening a separate program.
It has the ability to save a gradient and while I still want a way to save them as text I would not have to do it at the same time that I created them.

What I have managed to do is have a look at Pilgrim Color Blender which stands up well as a program in its own right.
I have found two issues with it, the first is that I cannot resize the window.
When I create a gradient I like to be able to see all of it or as much of it as possible without having to scroll, with CW I can either drag the window to increase its height or right click on the middle button (top right of the window) and with the help of The Wonderful Icon expand the window to the height of the screen. With PCB neither of these work.
The second issue is minor and does not greatly affect the use of the program.
I am able to paste both HEX and RGB values into the Start Color and End Color boxes and even if I mix the values (1 HEX, 1 RGB) it will produce a gradient (brilliant!), what I have discovered is that I cannot simply highlight and paste over anything that is already in the boxes I have to actually press delete, even if the box appears empty I still have to press delete before it will accept a new colour, I'm not sure if this is down to the program or the computer I am using.

That's as far as I have got for now.

1. The resize thing is only temporary since I didn't have much time to fix it how I wanted and still not much due to a family health issue.
2. The colors not updating I can't reproduce.  However if a color doesn't match the format it wont update it will just keep the last color that was valid.
3. I may eventually add a few things to Color Warlock that will do what you want, but at the time it will be as PBC as since I don't have much time don't want to hurry around with it's code and create bugs that I cant fix as fast as with smaller code to work with.
4. That said hopefully will be able to fix it up tomorrow or this weekend sometime with re-sizable form to resize the controls good and optimize the interface a little bit.

I'll stop work on my app then. :-)

I can only see the characters for your smilie so I'm not sure if that is good or bad. undecided

How about I copy all that out and make a small version with adjustments for you from the Color Warlock code since you say you don't need the main window.

Thank you for the offer, I will take you up on it but it might be easier if I take a more thorough look at the program as it stands so as not to keep coming back with different ideas.
If you don't mind waiting a couple of days I will make more detailed notes about possible changes and get back to you, then you can see what is or isn't possible. Is that OK?

Well I went ahead and started work on it, should be able to use RGB(#, #, #) in the start and end color as well...and below is the current state of it...if you want to test it.

CodeName of it atm is Pilgrim Color Blender.

DC member Hamradio made a pretty nice color tool called Color Warlock.. maybe this is a feature he would consider adding to it.

Believe it is already added to my program. See below its in the chart builder for my program mouser mentioned. smiley

[attachimg=1]

Does not need installing just don't put it in a location like program files so it saves the configuration settings correctly to the program directory.

Save the charts to the custom directory and it will appear automatically in the Charts "Custom" menu with a small color preview beside it.  If you save elsewhere then you can use the open temporary color chart to open it.

Use that part then save the chart then it is possible to view the charts in main window.

Tip: You do not need to type in a hex for start color or end color as it can also come from a double click on the start color preview or end color preview to set the color to the current color that is in the color box. (Color box is the box above where it says AliceBlue in screenshot.)  So if you got the RGB set it in basic tab, then double click the color preview in blend to set it to that color.

You can have multiple color charts too with the rgb and hex values able to be copied with left/middle/right clicks. (Can customize the mouse button copy actions.)

Notice anything wrong with the highlighted area?

Yep...they call it a software updater...but...I managed to beat them to noticing 17.0.5 of Thunderbird and updated before they even realized 17.0.5 was the latest version...

How can that be a software updater if they don't see the update before you...

Note: The other softwares was blanked out by Screenshot Captor 4.0+ Patching Effect.

Time I checked was 11:15 pm eastern time on 04/03/2013.

I'm confused as to what you are saying -- the SC window title shows the directory you are currently in or the full path to the current file.  Doesn't it? Shouldn't it?

It does not for me. I switch to say OLDER and it still says the screenshot path and I click on a file and it doesn't load either.  I switch back to the main one and it loads as well.

The Window-title doesn't show the actual directory selected in the browser on the left, as would be expected (by me at least smiley)

1. Cant change folder in the file browser and load a file from it as well.

@hamradio: Yes, I also use the amazingly useful CoLT, and I initially thought of it when I read about QuoteURLText, but they are not the same thing. QuoteURLText picks up the text and related metadata for pasting,

What type of metadata like full formatting and all or another as curious now if I should have the other as well?

14  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: Firefox Extensions: Your favorite or most useful on: March 05, 2013, 04:17:58 PM
Quote URL Text is like CoLT and CoLT can copy the selected text to clipboard as well. You can specify multiple formats for it as well instead of just one like Quote URL Text has at the moment.

Disclaimer: Not affiliated with CoLT just use it.

CoLT allows users to create custom formats to be used when copying a link location and its text. These custom formats also apply to copying the current page location and page title.

Just released 2.1.0 build 1...

RECOMMENDED UPDATE:

1. Import in the chart builder now contains JASC-PAL and Gimp Palette.
2. Custom text color override for the chart text color in options menu.
3. Optimized some code which should result in faster loading of large chart files.

So by that information to me it appears he broke the "protocol" agreement that he signed...thoughts on that?

He did. Definitely in the wrong on that point. But as most of us (including we sysadmins) seem to be leaning, the school's response was way out of proportion to the offense that was committed. So much so that it doesn't make sense...

I can't help thinking there's still something more behind this incident than what is being acknowledged. I'm guessing this student got caught up in something else that was going on at Dawson (perhaps an ongoing investigation into an earlier or much more serious network breech?) and those behind it thought they had finally "got their man."

If so, some of the rabidness on the part of Dawson starts to make a bit more sense. As does their insinuation that there's more going on than they can publicly discuss. Which would certainly be the case if there was a police investigation currently in progress over something that had happened on Dawson's network.

Oh well...as time passes, more will come out. ohmy

The question though to me is what was in the "protocol" that he signed...like if it wasn't followed and such...like consequences.  So until that is posted in truth one has to assume that the "protocol" made him a "professional" and that it had a thing in it saying he could be expelled for not following them...

Quotes from the site...

Quote
October 24th

Hamed and his colleagues meet with François Paradis to test their theory of data access. A test server is setup for them to run their findings. They sign a Protocol for Portal Vulnerability Test. Part of said protocol stipulates that testing must happen on College grounds under the supervision of Dawson College IT staff.

and then in summary...

Hamed was eager to verify the updated security of Omnivox on October 26th and performed tests from his home.

So by that information to me it appears he broke the "protocol" agreement that he signed...thoughts on that?

You will need to change SOMETHING about a text box before you see any fix -- so select it and toggle the inner color on and then off, or edit the text in some way, etc.
Meaning, use this technique in the new beta version?
It's nice to have some work around, but I'm assuming you will try to fix it (eventually) so the toggling / changing a text box isn't necessary?  Mainly because most won't know / remember to use the work around steps.

Tomos - I'm not sure either, what the sizes for fonts in SSC represent - or just a generic numeric value.  Definitely not pt. size.

Im not mouser, but what I think mouser is saying to do with the new version he put up is to see if its fixed by doing that on existing ones or you can see if its fixed just by creating a new one probably.

Today's gadget, an oven liner:

(see attachment in previous post)
http://www.amazon.com/Job...-Oven-Liner/dp/B000GLNV8Q

What it does:
Sits at the bottom of your oven and anything that would normally drip onto the bottom of your oven drips onto it.  Can be easily removed and cleaned and reused.

Or you can do as I do, line the bottom with aluminum foil.  When it gets overly dirty, just rip it out and put in some more...

Just a quick search...

Aluminum Foil vs Oven Liner

Don't use aluminum foil as oven liner
"The big name in foil — Reynolds — specifically advises against lining the bottom of ovens with foil."

Right now it uses cmd.exe to do its launching as was needed for what ConstanceJill was wanting.  I may make a option that can be toggled at some point that redirects it to a specified window as specified in the options as well that will find and send the text to a window instead of through cmd.exe.
