Icon Tools / Re: congrats hamradio
« on: October 19, 2006, 09:20 AM »
I thought import/export was a pretty standard feature as from what I could tell in the ones I looked at since it is in everyone (except the freeware one for import which has bmp export) that is currently in it anyways.  With most being able to do not only .bmp and .gif, but others also. :)

Great job, hamradio!

One thing I didn't see mentioned, though, was the ability to import graphics to base your icons on.

I know Microangelo allows you to import .bmp files that you have created in another graphics program. This is my preferred way of creating icons since it gives me much more control over the image creation and I can use any plugins I want in the process by creating the image for the icon in Paintshop Pro.

I also know that Microangelo allows you to export a .gif file of your icon as well as an .ico file, which can be handy for developers that need a small graphic for their PAD files.

For those of you that have taken advantage of this offer, you can't use the instructions in the email they sent you, once you have that key.

It says to double click the key file but that will result in this error:

http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/6870/rarkeyxj4.jpg

What you have to do is make sure you have version 3.51 installed and open it. then drag that key file into it and you are done.

The email gave bad installing info.

I made rar files open with WINRAR and then I double clicked the rar file I downloaded and it must have automatically imported the registration info for me.  So since that happened to me I don't think they meant double click the file inside of the rar file that had the key in it.  :)

Heres a couple of my newly created ones for the 3rd Edition which will go on my site when I get around 68 or so!  These are did in sTile also and as far as I can tell both are seamless.  :)

sTile is a program designed to create 'Seamless Tiles'; small images that, when lined up adjacent with itself, makes a seamless pattern with no discernible borders. It can do other things, but that was (and still is) its primary purpose.  It is based on gradients, the gradual shading from one color to another.  Best results for 3D look is to use a light color and a dark color for the gradient.  After the gradient, there are numerous 'filters' and 'distortions' that can be applied to the image to alter the appearance in a variety of ways.

The new browser includes phishing protection to prevent users being fooled by fake websites...
-Carl Taylor, vnunet.com

The only 100% safe method of phishing protection is yourself.  As what if the phishing protection doesnt say a site is a phishing site when it really is...Then you are just as bad off.  So I think it is up to the user still yet to check out each site.  It may help most of the time, but still I don't think I could trust it all of the time.

For everyone's info if they do not know about it or did not read the help file on it...It is possible to launch local programs that is in the URL textbox of each entry with command line parameters by using cmd://.

This is the example from the KeePass Password Safe help file.

Example: cmd://C:\WinNT\Notepad.exe C:\Test\MyTestFile.txt
