Announce Your Software/Service/Product / Rainmeter 2.0 Unleashed
« on: February 06, 2011, 02:42 PM »
Apologies folks, I know I have failed to keep you updated as I should.

But here we go

abppreview-Small.jpg

Two years ago, an abandoned, virtually unknown piece of open-source software was suddenly embraced by a small team of designers and programmers with a vision of its potential. Since then, Rainmeter has become the premier desktop customizing platform for Windows PCs, and with over 3 million downloads*, its passionate and supportive user community is growing by the day. The result is a gallery of hundreds of creative skins, gadgets and plugins, and an app that just keeps getting better.

To commemorate the second anniversary of Rainmeter's "rebirth," we've decided to surprise our users with the big jump to 2.0. A whole-number jump may not mean much at Google anymore, but it's still a big deal for us. Here's the gist of what Rainmeter users can expect:

  • Adding new skins is easier than ever. Rainmeter can now recognize and install downloaded skins automatically in just a few clicks. It'll even make a backup if you're copying over an old version, while leaving your personal settings untouched.
  • We've added Illustro, a new set of default skins, which have been specially designed to help new users learn the basics.
  • You can now do a lot more with skins than just look at them. Skins now support text input, letting you tweet, search Google, jot down a quick note - and whatever else you can think of - directly from Rainmeter. This feature also reduces the need to edit code by hand, making it faster and easier to change your personal settings: colors, fonts, passwords and more.
  • Rainmeter itself is much lighter. There is now a single installer for both 32-bit and 64-bit systems. Users can choose which of our featured skins to download during the installing process, or later, if they prefer. Our downloads page can be opened directly from Rainmeter's context menu.
  • A portable install option has been added.
  • New plugin integrates Rainmeter with the CPU temperature monitor, CoreTemp.
  • We've improved support for grouping skins, making it easier to toggle skins' visibility and lock them in place to prevent accidental dragging.
  • Under the hood, there are plenty of new tools for skin developers. Support for the Lua scripting language is now baked in, as is a template for C# plugins. Expanded styles and modules now behave more like CSS. And we've added some powerful image manipulation tools for automatic cropping, flipping, rotating, tinting and more. We can't wait to see what creative programmers can do with these features.
  • We've overhauled Rainmeter's online manual, including our in-depth, hands-on tutorial series, Rainmeter 101.
To coincide with this special occasion, we're also pushing major updates to our three flagship skin suites - Gnometer, ABP, and the well-known Enigma. These suites' new features include expanded support for web services, including Twitter, Facebook, Remember The Milk and Google Calendar; media players, including VLC, Spotify, Windows Media Player and Zune; and, as always, much more.

Starting February 6, 2011, Rainmeter 2.0 can be downloaded at Rainmeter.net. New versions of Gnometer, ABP and Enigma are expected to drop the following week. Rainmeter runs on all versions of Windows XP, Vista and 7.

I have considered writing a review, but feel that my bias would compromise any such review.
If someone is willing to write a review with pro's and con's, I would be grateful, and deliver the review to the rest of the Rainmeter community  :-*

Have fun

Regards
The Sarge

Greeting ELBVT

Hold on to that copy/install, not only is it the latest version, but you managed to obtain it before Markham quite and pulled his code/versions.
As of this time; Circle Dock has been rolled back to VideoInPicture's original code, and advancement is at a stand still  :(

I do not know what the future holds to Circle Dock at this time, but I keep hope that it can still be glorious :D

I have recent had a thought;
What if all the programmers, that work in this language and coding, take over Circle Dock as a group.
Even if Circle Dock needed to evolve into another language and libraries.
A community project that every available programmer, here at DC in their spare time, contributes too.
A massive Community collaboration, a way for all the minds of this great community to come together, and create something truly special, in one program. "A" Program that has come from the DC community, much larger, and more influenced by the whole, as an addition to the individual excellent programs available......
Suggestions and programming coming together from all areas of thsi great community. To overcome many obstacles and issues.
To expand Circle Dock as a community effort of many.......
E Pluribus Unum

Oh damn......
I can write no more at this time, let me gather myself and my emotions   :(

Circle Dock / Re: [Questions] New to Circle Dock
« on: January 15, 2011, 10:43 PM »
Greetings Remanent
Glad to have you with us here at Circle Dock and the DonationCoder community

Let's see about answering these one at a time.

How do I make it so Circle Dock automatically start up when my computer starts up?

Check this posting: https://www.donation....msg150032#msg150032

What are some good site to get Skins and Icons that are highly recommended?

Check here: https://www.donation...ex.php?topic=21737.0
Here: http://circledock.wikidot.com/gallery

For Icons I usually look into DeviantART and Rocket Dock

If I have many Folder on Circle Dock is there something I could make it easier for me to tell which folder are which, instead of having to move my cursor over all twenty sum folders?

Other than changing teh various graphic Icons images, and proper labeling there is not any other way, that being said; I have developed, or download, graphics that are easily identifiable to the subject of the folders and files.

Thanks.
Hopefully this has been of some assistance

Greetings CrashX
I am glad to have you with us  :-*
Your English is well enough  ;)

This version of Circle Dock was created when Windows XP OS was at its height of popularity.
At that time there was not an option for "View Desktop".
Until another programmer comes along and programs in the ability to handle this capability, there is no current solution  :(

Unfortunately that is still a work in progress.  :(
The most I could do is give you information on how to develop a static graphic.
ie. it would not change when there are items in the bin

If you like I can re-dig up that information.  ;)

LOL

I was just in the middle of a graphics tutorial for #1  ;D

As for #2. There is no native way to simulate the mouse wheel spin, so on it's own Circle Dock will not spin.
There is a couple of possibilities.
1.) If you can assign a touch motion to simulate the Arrow Left and Arrow Right Keys. The Arrow Right and Left will make Circle Dock spin accordingly. As for re-assignment; No way that I know of :(
2.) I am in the experimentation phase to be sure.
There is a program called Stroke It
This program may have a way to simulate the scroll button as a touch screen solution.
I fear that it may interfere with your current touch screen software.
I have yet to fully test a plugin that I am working with the folks at Stroke It on, but may at some point become a native solution ;)

There is a third party solution that would require some work.
There is AutoIT and AutoHotKey
Either one of these programs could be used to create a small based program that can re-assign the necessary keys.
As to how exactly is a bit above my pay grade  :-[

Circle Dock / Merry Christmas | happy Solstice
« on: December 24, 2010, 11:34 AM »
Greetings folks.

For many of us this is a time of good cheer and happy togetherness, for others it is a time of reflection and contemplation, and for others it is other things. This time of year is so many things to so many people, even those that do not celebrate the recognized holiday, this is still a time of togetherness and merriment.
I recognize you all.
I wish I had more to give than words for all that many of you have given us.

To that end, in the spirit of this particular season; From me and mine to you and yours, the very best of all things to all of you.

Quite simply, and not to bring up old issues.
Markham pulled his code. :(

I will leave it at that

I am so sorry to hear this :(

I believe that you are the first to come forward and mention such an issue, or at least such a combination.
I am working to get  this version stabilized, but do not know when that will be :(

The Alpha is a self contained file, unzip and run, nothing to "intsall"

I have been in the middle of Massive updates at Rainmeter and other sites, and been unable to get a small tutorial worked together.
I will do so as soon as I have a couple of free hours ;)

My apologies for this untimely work, but since no time is a good time, almost any time will do :p

41
So I find that I am curious:

Do you think that folks that hit these sites with the below mentioned banner; is their IP being recorded and db'ed to HLS or ICE???

Just a thought

any one else's thoughts?

42
I have it all figured out folks :D

A bomb in a fake Gucci bag is more dangerous than a bomb in a real one.
The government is ensuring that if we are being held hostage by a terrorist with a jersey, it is a real quality jersey and not a fake :p

I must say that I am disturbed at the behind the scenes action of it all. No warning, no public announcement, nothing.
This was just dropped like a bomb.
If it is a legitimate action, then why was this not handled above board?
where is the public announcements?

and why the hell is ICE and Homeland Security involved?
This seems a bit out side of terrorism and immigration!?!!

There is something wrong about the entire implementation.
I agree that if this was illegitimate torrent sites and the like, but it is the tactic and the implementation and the hidden secrecy of it all that I am appalled with

Greetings Hereiaamhaha
Apologies for the late reply

This function was discontinued by the original programmer.
Unfortunately I do not believe that it has been revisited for a proper solution

44
Indeed.

I remember threatening to let Cody have it if the Donations did not continue coming it.

It was an excellent time to be sure

I feel like the "Johnny Come Lately" on this thread and am incredibly embarrassed that I just found out via the news letter :-[
Apologies  :(

App; it is very simple
I will tell you as I have told so many other.

YOU HAVE TO TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF FIRST!
yourself
your life
your family
your friends
YOU YOU YOU!!!

if you can not take care of yourself first, you are no good to no one, least of all yourself.

I feel your heart break, but no tears, I applaud all you have done; for yourself and the DC community.
through you DC has become a welcome place for others  :-*

Know that when you need friends, we are here  :-*

Go take care of yourself, we will be here waiting patiently for when you need us; for what-ever

Be happy again and find yourself as well

Thank you April for all that you have done, and my heart felt best wishes for your continued journey.
Merry Part and Fair journey Friend, until next our paths cross

Circle Dock / Re: Downloading Circle Dock
« on: October 26, 2010, 09:41 PM »
Greetings Sholin
Welcome to Donationcoder.com and Circle Dock's little part

Indeed.
There is no installation of the Alpha as this is a standalone program.

dazzaa  is quite correct in his instructions

Try it and lat us know that you are working properly.
If not, we will keep working until we get you squared away  ;)

Regards
The Sarge

48
Good deal  8)

Glad it worked

If you need anything else, do not hesitate to ask
Also, when you get a chance, take some time and see what else is available, and happening, around Donationcoder here

49
Greetings agisfere  ;D
Glad to have you here with us at Circle Dock and Donationcoder.com  :-*

Let's get you working as you have requested.

First let's adjust the Z-Level properly.
You have a choice, since you are using Windows XP. You can either list the Z-Level at Normal or Desktop, as in the following image;
Screenshot - 10_14_2010 , 10_59_10 AM.png
If you list as "Normal" there will be the occasion where Circle Dock will be the primary program and will appear to be on teh top. All you have to do is click on another window to send Circle Dock to the back.
When set to Desktop, in Windows XP and earlier only, Circle Dock will be seen on Desktop only ;)

In order to get Circle Dock to stop hiding after opening, or clicking, and icon.
You must un-check the an option in the Settings under "Dock" Items so that Circle Dock will remain after clicking any item.
As in the following image;
Screenshot - 10_14_2010 , 11_03_05 AM.png

Here is where things get a little tricky.
In the next image there are two important options
One will allow you, by un-checking, to stop Circle Dock from appearing, or focusing, under the mouse pointer on the screen
The other option will fix Circle Dock's location on your screen. Only select this if you want to have Circle Dock remain in one location, and only after you have selected that location on your desktop!!! You may wish to experiment with the second option here once you get properly set up ;)
So for sure, un-check the option of appearing under pointer.
Screenshot - 10_14_2010 , 11_06_46 AM.png

Now to help avoid the toggling of Circle Dock we need to set the Mouse options and Desktop corners to None or not checked.
For the mouse options, you will want to select "None" from the drop down window.
And un-check all boxes under "Show dock when I move my mouse to..."
As in the following image;
Screenshot - 10_14_2010 , 11_08_18 AM.png

I hope this is the set up you have requested.
If not lee me know, and we will get it ironed out for you to your satisfaction if possible.

Let me know  :tellme:

The Sarge

Problem is I do have some other apps for key mapping (Executor) , this is especially annoying with game trainers messing up the mappings :)

Indeed.
For this reason I set up a Hot key combination to a mouse button, using SetPoint to send the hotkey command to Circle Dock.
Although not an option for everyone, this has worked out greatly with my MX Revolution

Let me know how things work, or not, and I will try everything I can to help get you set up in an appropriate way
