Other Software / Developer's Corner / A process around restoring production data to test/development servers?

Hi,
I have been asked to create a process around restoring production data to test/development servers.
Apart from the logistics of restoring the data, masking the appropriate fields and granting access, I have to create a form that users are required to sign before we restore data. This form is to cover such things as:
1. Protecting the confidentiality of data (even if sensitive data has been masked) 2. To remove the database after completion of test/development 3. To restrict access to the database to a minimum number of people as possible 4. To restrict the people who can view the DB from test/development front-end(s) 5. Where data is printed from the database/front-end, ensure the output is protected and shredded afterwards 6. Not to copy the database 7. Etc...
Does any one have such a process/document that they would be willing to share or if you have any ideas of what else I should cover in such a document?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Damian

Main Area and Open Discussion / Living Room / iPod Touch - any opinions?

Hi, my wife is heading from little old Ireland to the States at the end of this month. To ease her conscience of leaving me with our three kids for eight days, she's thinking of buying me an unlocked iPhone!
Do any of you use the iPhone and is it worth the hype & cost? Have any of you used them unlocked? Is the complete functionality of the iPod Touch contained within the iPhone?
Failing the purchase of the iPhone (for whatever reason), what do you think of the iPod Touch 16GB model? I already have a Creative Zen Vision:M, but I find the choice of accessories is very limited in Ireland and the iTouch looks so cool.
Thanks in advance
Damian

DonationCoder.com Software / ContextMenu Commander / Re: When?

Hi Mouser,
Oddly enough, one of my resolutions for 2008 is to focus on improving my psychic abilities - it seems to be working on you. Now if I can just read my wife's mind..., I suspect she's better at reading my mind than I am at reading hers.
I love the fact that you don't mind pointing people to alternate (soon to be competitive) products! I can't download it until I get home as the firewall in work blocks to many sites!
Thanks and I hope that ContectMenu Commander will be as useful to be as LaunchBar Commander & ScreenShot Captor are.

DonationCoder.com Software / LaunchBar Commander / New feature
|
on: January 03, 2008, 07:59:16 AM

Hi Mouser,
Can you please add a delay of some form on node types of Folders (a node type that shows the contents of a folder)?
Why you may ask? Well I have number of nodes that have complex sub fodlers with lots of files. I have to pass over the firsy node to get to say the third node and LaunchBar Commander pauses to extract the contents of each folder node and this can take up to 10 seconds on some of my folders.
Regards
Damian

DonationCoder.com Software / LaunchBar Commander / Bug?

Hi,
I'd like to report a minor:
If you go into preferences and paste or type an icon location and tab or click outside of the the text box, the 'Save Changes' command button doesn't get enabled. See attachment to explain this better.
Have a good new Year
Damian
PS Is there an easy way to move Nodes up and down or sort alphabetically?

DonationCoder.com Software / Screenshot Captor / Bug: Ctrl C doesn't work (for me)
|
on: October 25, 2007, 08:20:28 AM
|
|
Hi,
I've reported this before and I'm curious to know if it happens for others.
I keep copies of my screen captures in SC (ver. 2.37.03). If I highlight an older screenshot in the screenshot panel it appears highlighted (selected) on the main screen, but if I use Ctrl C to copy it, nothing happens.
However, if I reselect the image or press Ctrl A and then Ctrl C, it copies fine.
Am I using this wrong or is it a bug?
Tks
Damian

DonationCoder.com Software / Screenshot Captor / Re: Why I gave up on it

SC was the reason I became a member of DonationCoder, I use it everyday. While I don't use all the features (or are features now called bloatware?), its nice to have the features available when you need them.
Some users are obviously put off by the many features, but a little time spent familiarising yourself with the program gives its longterm benefits.
How many of us use over 30% of any OS/program/utilities capabilities?

DonationCoder.com Software / Screenshot Captor / Outstanding bugs...

Hi Mouser, Well done to get so many releases out together. I'd hate to have my productivity measured against you Can I ask you about some older postings? I have an issue with 'Ctrl + A', it doesn't select all the image if it is too large to fit on the screen. Removing the screenshot panel does allow more of the image to be selected. See http://www.donationcoder....um/index.php?topic=7967.0. Another posting I had was a suggestion about trying to override the save to disk. See http://www.donationcoder....um/index.php?topic=8580.0. You said you might try and put an option to override this and you had hoped to have this in the next release. I've also noticed that using 'Ctrl + C' doesn't always copy the selected image to the clipboard, the previous clipboard contents remains intact. I can't see a pattern to this behaviour. Thanks and as usual, great work Mouser. Regards Damian
