101  DonationCoder.com Software / Screenshot Captor / How to backup/restore Screenshot Captor? on: October 04, 2008, 03:47:46 AM
Hi,

Sorry if this is an obvious one, but how do you backup & restore the configuration settings?  I have a new PC and I'm being lazy!

Thanks

Damian

I play squash twice a week during an extended lunch break (this includes a 10 minutes cycle to and from the club). When I get back to the office, my face looks like its going to explode due to the exertion ohmy

Its a lovely French town (or maybe village) called Samoens near the Swiss border.

Can I cheat and use a photograph of from the window of apartment I stayed in on a skiing holiday earlier this year?

Hopefully I can get this picture to display!
105  Main Area and Open Discussion / Living Room / Re: Transcutaneous Electric Nerve Stimulation Gadgets for Pain Relief? on: July 28, 2008, 06:24:10 AM
Yeah, lower back pain seems to be a normal part of life for me (particularly when trying to sleep).

I'd be interested to hear people's experience of these devices.
106  Main Area and Open Discussion / Living Room / Re: Running an external command from with Microsoft Word? on: May 27, 2008, 10:12:38 AM
I managed to get a batch file to work that launched the command with parameters, but Word does warn you about the possibility of the file containing a virus and the command prompt window stays open until I close the utility!
107  Main Area and Open Discussion / Living Room / Running an external command from with Microsoft Word? on: May 27, 2008, 09:13:48 AM
Hi all,

Does anyone know how to insert a link to run an external command from within Microsoft Word (2003)?  I'd like to run a command/utility (or whatever) in a similar fashion to the way you can insert Hyperlinks to other documents.

Thanks

108  Other Software / Developer's Corner / A process around restoring production data to test/development servers? on: April 23, 2008, 03:58:56 AM
Hi,

I have been asked to create a process around restoring production data to test/development servers.

Apart from the logistics of restoring the data, masking the appropriate fields and granting access, I have to create a form that users are required to sign before we restore data.  This form is to cover such things as:

1. Protecting the confidentiality of data (even if sensitive data has been masked)
2. To remove the database after completion of test/development
3. To restrict access to the database to a minimum number of people as possible
4. To restrict the people who can view the DB from test/development front-end(s)
5. Where data is printed from the database/front-end, ensure the output is protected and shredded afterwards
6. Not to copy the database
7. Etc...

Does any one have such a process/document that they would be willing to share or if you have any ideas of what else I should cover in such a document?

Thanks in advance for your help.

109  Main Area and Open Discussion / Living Room / iPod Touch - any opinions? on: January 09, 2008, 07:22:14 AM
Hi, my wife is heading from little old Ireland to the States at the end of this month.  To ease her conscience of leaving me with our three kids for eight days, she's thinking of buying me an unlocked iPhone!

Do any of you use the iPhone and is it worth the hype & cost? Have any of you used them unlocked?  Is the complete functionality of the iPod Touch contained within the iPhone?

Failing the purchase of the iPhone (for whatever reason), what do you think of the iPod Touch 16GB model?  I already have a Creative Zen Vision:M, but I find the choice of accessories is very limited in Ireland and the iTouch looks so cool.

Thanks in advance

Damian
110  DonationCoder.com Software / LaunchBar Commander / Re: New feature on: January 08, 2008, 05:04:04 AM
That seems like a sensible solution to me. Have either have an option of 0ms for instant access or a higher value to delay it.
111  DonationCoder.com Software / ContextMenu Commander / Re: When? on: January 04, 2008, 02:22:27 AM
Hi Mouser,

Oddly enough, one of my resolutions for 2008 is to focus on improving my psychic abilities - it seems to be working on you. Now if I can just read my wife's mind..., I suspect she's better at reading my mind than I am at reading hers.

I love the fact that you don't mind pointing people to alternate (soon to be competitive) products!  I can't download it until I get home as the firewall in work blocks to many sites!

Thanks and I hope that ContectMenu Commander will be as useful to be as LaunchBar Commander & ScreenShot Captor are.

Hi Mouser,

Has this project been shelved indefinitely or is just on the long finger?

Tks

114  DonationCoder.com Software / LaunchBar Commander / New feature on: January 03, 2008, 07:59:16 AM
Hi Mouser,

Can you please add a delay of some form on node types of Folders (a node type that shows the contents of a folder)?

Why you may ask?  Well I have number of nodes that have complex sub fodlers with lots of files.  I have to pass over the firsy node to get to say the third node and LaunchBar Commander pauses to extract the contents of each folder node and this can take up to 10 seconds on some of my folders.

115  DonationCoder.com Software / LaunchBar Commander / Bug? on: December 31, 2007, 07:25:27 AM
Hi,

I'd like to report a minor:

If you go into preferences and paste or type an icon location and tab or click outside of the the text box, the 'Save Changes' command button doesn't get enabled.  See attachment to explain this better.

Have a good new Year

Damian

PS Is there an easy way to move Nodes up and down or sort alphabetically?
116  DonationCoder.com Software / Screenshot Captor / Re: Bug: Ctrl C doesn't work (for me) on: October 26, 2007, 02:37:43 AM
Hi Mouser,

Yep, that's it when I do Ctrl V in Explorer it pastes the image into the folder as a PNG file (nice feature that).  If you could, I'd like a different shortcut to paste it into the clipboard.

Tks

117  DonationCoder.com Software / Screenshot Captor / Bug: Ctrl C doesn't work (for me) on: October 25, 2007, 08:20:28 AM
Hi,

I've reported this before and I'm curious to know if it happens for others.

I keep copies of my screen captures in SC (ver. 2.37.03). If I highlight an older screenshot in the screenshot panel it appears highlighted (selected) on the main screen, but if I use Ctrl C to copy it, nothing happens.

However, if I reselect the image or press Ctrl A and then Ctrl C, it copies fine.

Am I using this wrong or is it a bug?

Tks

Damian

I have a few PCs that can be at your disposal.  They won't be running 24*7 as I'm trying to minimise my carbon footprint
119  DonationCoder.com Software / Screenshot Captor / Re: Why I gave up on it on: September 01, 2007, 02:35:20 PM
SC was the reason I became a member of DonationCoder, I use it everyday. While I don't use all the features (or are features now called bloatware?), its nice to have the features available when you need them.

Some users are obviously put off by the many features, but a little time spent familiarising yourself with the program gives its longterm benefits.

How many of us use over 30% of any OS/program/utilities capabilities?
120  DonationCoder.com Software / Screenshot Captor / Re: Outstanding bugs... on: August 22, 2007, 03:49:10 PM
Hi Mouser,

Thanks for the reply, but I knew about the "Don't Auto Save Captures".

In a previous posting (http://www.donationcoder....ic=8580.msg61880#msg61880) you said:

what if i added options to right click tray for quick settings like:
1) autosave and stay minimized
2) dont autosave but copy to clipboard

Its the quick setting I was looking for.

Thanks again.

121  DonationCoder.com Software / Screenshot Captor / Outstanding bugs... on: August 22, 2007, 07:26:04 AM
Hi Mouser,

Well done to get so many releases out together.  I'd hate to have my productivity measured against you smiley

Can I ask you about some older postings?

I have an issue with 'Ctrl + A', it doesn't select all the image if it is too large to fit on the screen. Removing the screenshot panel does allow more of the image to be selected.  See http://www.donationcoder....um/index.php?topic=7967.0.

Another posting I had was a suggestion about trying to override the save to disk.  See http://www.donationcoder....um/index.php?topic=8580.0.  You said you might try and put an option to override this and you had hoped to have this in the next release.

I've also noticed that using 'Ctrl + C' doesn't always copy the selected image to the clipboard, the previous clipboard contents remains intact. I can't see a pattern to this behaviour.

Thanks and as usual, great work Mouser.

Regards

Damian

Hmmm, I ran CCleaner again and all was OK.  Maybe it was those darn gremlins which visit my PC every now and then.
123  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: CCleaner 2.0 Beta Released - Clean the Crap off your Computer on: August 17, 2007, 10:06:55 AM
I ran CCleaner 2.0 beta and it SEEMS to have caused issues with a fine piece of software called LaunchBar Commander (1.60.06).  When I try use a Menu Node Type to display a list of files in a folder and click on an item, I get an error message: "ERROR: could not launch quickdoclauncher..."

Has anyone else encountered this?

Regards

Damian

PS reinstalling LaunchBar Commander solved the issue
124  DonationCoder.com Software / Screenshot Captor / Bug: copying an image from SC main window uing Ctrl C shortcut on: July 17, 2007, 10:07:52 AM
Hi,
Sometimes when I have an image in the main screen captor window and I wish to copy it using the shortcut (Ctrl C) it doesn't work.  If I use the menu Edit->Comopy Image/Object to Clipboard (Ctrl C) it works just fine.  I have already selected the complete image before I use Ctrl C.
