because, this is the proper area to post it (Post New Requests Here). I'm new to the forum and I'm quite having a hard time focusing in development.

re~jgpaiva:
actually, your idea is great and has give a good function to desktop profile, I'm sorry that I'd say its "complicated" because of the "moving of contents" you said and I say "w/o moving contents"

* Dexpod is a Windows Manager (virtual desktop), the other links provided  "symbolic link" to a file like in linux.

i you read my old post:
https://www.donation...?topic=10493.new#new

and this one that we attempt to develop it:
https://www.donation...57.msg85201#msg85201

we encountered problem in refreshing the desktop, i think a windowless explorer (overlaying the real desktop) may help:

re~wetsmellydog:
I know a virtual desktop and i have searched alot about it, it looks like a virtual desktop but its not using a switching taskbar or open window's desktop switch. only the desktop.

I see what you mean.. every profiled desktop has the contents of the real desktop, every desktop contents is carried to another desktop when the profile is selected?  :-\ like hiding contents by its profile? then getting organized folders? I think its too much complicated while all i need is a floating explorer w/o its window(desktop functions replica).

my idea is an "empty" and "independent" desktops (besides recycle bin) for them to "decide" what to put in their desk (just like a table, theres a gaming table desk, working table desk, reading table desk ~ etc) each of these Desktop folders correspond to "assignable" area (like Photoshops is Drive G:\PIX, Office is Drive F:\, your USB ~ Etc) while the real desktop is unaffected(coz of the MS bug when refreshing, check the link in my first post here)

Only the real desktop has apps shortcuts, while the rest of the profiled desktop are empty, every desktop has different contents. as this would be their real "storage" is located. Actually, shortcuts will be decided and be copied by the users, an application shortcut that match a desktop profile.(e.g. Office Desktop has only Excel and MS Word Shortcuts with some folders and files you are currently working with, Other desktop is just for organizing downloads)

tapping the upper corner of your screen will show the other desktop (just like "Expose") but much simpler (as performance-wise) for just selecting screen

The main point is.. desktop is the area where you can easily drop/drag items, organize files & reminds you of your work desk. its much bigger than windows explorer. and is always available when hitting "win+d" specially when your working with some multi-tasking project. Your desktop is the "home" or root of your files inventory. It would be much easier when the desktops are profiled, ~ separated to other groups or organized by profile so it wouldn't look so messed up and is very manageable.

This idea is much manageable for a single user PC with so much things you are working on, rather using another windows profile login to organize or profile the work desk when your the only one whose using it.

:-[  if changing the real desktop to a separate folder is very complicated, how about not touching it and create another replica of it in a separate desktop files/folders environment functions(taskbar is not affected).. "Profiled" desktop somehow similar to windows login profile user's files/folders environment, but the idea is organizing a single profile's work desk.. a separate "work desk"(table desk) for each type of work profiles.. i hope/wish there's a coder out there who can work it to something like this: (click it ~ to show)

nope.. peazip uses right-click.. and has to be, somehow to register in windows registry even if there's a portable version.

i hope someone can develop something like this: (Click ~ to Open)

also check this good apps site

Ok, to clear the info:
im looking for someone who can code this apps. or similar

"a Self Package (SFX) ~ .exe with explorer-like GUI"

* Drag n Drop files inside that box (there is only two way)
* updates(overwrites) the file when there's duplicate
* able to delete the file inside by pressing del key or rightclick delete
* independent, which mean, the extracting and compressing feature in built-in.. like a shell, a single file, self-contained, portable
* wish list: encryption function and password (or else, will just act like the default XP zip folders)

that would be great..

re: tinjaw
somthing like this, fSekrit(link below) try it also - but files are involved

This is from my last Post
https://www.donation...?topic=10493.new#new

* where you can relocate Desktop Files as a "separate folder" in your hard drive

* where you can select a Desktop Profile with a Zoom In and Zoom Out Function (Zoom Out is the Desktop Selector or an overview of all profiled desktops, Zoom In is the current selected desktop with shortcuts/files/folders/orThemes)

* a Profile Desktop is generally to organize your files from Work/Projects/Gaming/Internet/ETC as it is very useful for people whose desktop is full of files/folders

.. the idea is just to switch desktop.. (I think, tapping the edge of the desktop or a backspace to go back to overview mode..)

.. and to relocate the desktop in a separate folder (e.g. D:\Desktop\productive_desktop\)

.. overview mode, as i can see it, will only act as a shortcuts to the profiled desktop folders.. ideas: widgets, image maps ~ any imaginations

.. RE: "Virtual Desktop" = nope, this is using only 1 taskbar for opened windows and just browsing a different desktop folders..

i think the problem is, it cannot change the desktop(as i didnt successfully changed mine using the script [compiled from autohotkey] - im using xp sp2), i think how about covering them with an explorer like apps to function like desktop profile.. but i know it would be hard..

DesktopX is too complex, and only the switching is needed.. i know alot of people has dirty desktop, and this is a very good solution.

btw, im shock, that people here are good and responsive..

this might help.. i hope(the last part):

;D just need a switcher for desktop folders

116
I've been searching (weeks)for:
a explorer-like GUI of Self Package (SFX) where you can drag n' drop files into the archive.(or prompt for password).. the idea is to make it a self-container (the files and the application) for easy distribution of files.. similar to "fSekrit" notes.. making it portable..

The question is.. have you encountered anything like it? coz for me.. that would be the best..

Thanks

.. the cube came from HTC Touch idea(i'm thinkin about a "medium size frame for in-frame window" then it will overlap the cube's edge when rotated.. designs ideas.. NOT related to this "desktop profiles" btw)

.. the GUI example is just an example... i can also help in designing.. thanks for the replies btw n_n

Is there a software where you can have a Profile Desktop?
